So, apparently he told Mumsnet
I’m totally anti-sugar on health grounds, so eat very few biscuits,” replied Mr Corbyn. “But if forced to accept one, it’s always a pleasure to have a shortbread ???
(How do you "force" someone to eat a biscuit?) hmm
Thank goodness they didn't ask him about cupcakecupcake ?

Sheilasue Tue 20-Sept-16 15:52:01

I like the idea of the dog biscuit thought that was so funny. No I would never trust a man who doesn't eat biscuits.

Hmm, maybe, trisher, but I prefer even politicians to allow for complexity. Most of them do, or appear to. Rock hard unbending utter conviction makes me think of martyrs and despotic autocrats. I prefer to keep my distance from that kind of thing.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sept-16 18:07:01

I think the "totally anti-sugar" was just audience pleasing. He needs to find favour where he can, and we all know what this generation of mums think about sugar. Can't blame him. He's a politician. A particularly needy-of-support one at the moment too.

The man is an oik, with the charisma and personality of dingy towel that has been used for drying the dog after a muddy walk in the rain on a wet Wednesday in Wigan.

Apologies to dingy towels and Wigan.

thatbags Tue 20-Sept-16 18:18:31

Oh I do love directness like that. Thank you, phoenix grin

thatbags Tue 20-Sept-16 18:21:15

And of course his dingy damp towel quality didn't matter at all while he was a backbencher objecting to everything and achieving bugger all. Sigh. Wish he'd go back there.

Ana Tue 20-Sept-16 18:21:39

I don't see why he's particularly in need of support. He's bound to be re-elected leader of the Labour party as Owen Smith doesn't seem to have convinced enough voters that he's a better choice.

'Totally anti-sugar' except for shortbread and his home-made jams! grin

trisher Tue 20-Sept-16 18:25:50

I don't know the book I read is called "Pure White and Deadly by John Yukon. I read it in the 70s and made drastic changes in my diet for a bit, since then of course I have had 3 kids and adjusted things, but I can see that if you were the sort who stuck to things it would make you anti-sugar. And he does have an allotment.

trisher Tue 20-Sept-16 18:29:11

I'd choose an 'oik' over a'hooray Henry' or a'jolly hockey sticks headgirl' anyday.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sept-16 18:31:21

Yes. "Pure white and Deadly" started all this sugar knocking off! hmm

Homemade jam is innocent! Hands off!

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sept-16 18:33:05

And I am about to go and have some Blackberry and Apple on toast now having stuffed myself silly at the Pizza Hut buffet earlier

trisher Tue 20-Sept-16 18:38:09

Yum! I want some! I love jam think it's something to do with it being a special treat when I was little. envy

gillybob Tue 20-Sept-16 18:47:36

If I were on a plane with Ant and Dec I would pretend not to know them either Stansgran and I am from Newcastle.

I don't know if biscuits tell you much about a person tbh

Shall we do a GN analysis just for fun?

I like Chocolate Hobnobs, Chocolate Digestives and those little cinnamon ones you get in the hairdressers. What does that say about me?

thatbags Tue 20-Sept-16 19:00:09

When my dad was a kid in a mining village he thought that he would know he was rich when he could afford to spread jam right to the edge of his bread.

thatbags Tue 20-Sept-16 19:05:24

I don't have a preference for oiks over hooray henries or jolly hockey sticks head girls, possibly because I don't know any examples of any of them. What I prefer in a politician is someone with good political sense. Corbyn hasn't struck me as having any yet.

I've heard of Ant and Dec. Not sure I'd recognise them anywhere.

Anniebach Tue 20-Sept-16 19:11:56

I don't want an oik or a hooray Henry for leader. I want a leader who doesn't depend on a cult to win an election , a leader to become leader because of his/her strengths and honesty

Anniebach Tue 20-Sept-16 19:13:34

What is the connection between being anti sugar and having an allotment ?

Ramblingrose22 Tue 20-Sept-16 19:45:08

Biscuits or no biscuits, Jeremy Corbyn is a clueless person who has learned nothing over the last 40 years. He only engages with those who agree with him and only agrees to interviews where he is given advance notice of the questions so that his team can brief him. He won't go on the Today programme and has said he will not attend TV leader debates if there is a General Election. What is he afraid of?

I find it utterly sinister that union leader Len McCluskey is warning MPs who have "disrespected" JC - just like the gangs who beat each other up over turf wars.

His team and Momentum have fired up young people who are naive and naturally want change and conned them that he can deliver it. Now he is saying that th can wil because he can get those who don't vote on his side. How can he know that they would support him or that the numbers involved would be sufficient to give him a majority?

It's all another con by politicians to gain power. The wider electorate who do vote will not be fooled by him and his promises. As for "honest, straight talking politics", when asked if the General Secretary will be sacked if he wins the leadership, all he would answer repeatedly was "I've enjoyed working with Ian McNichol". Why not have the guts to say "Yes" as that is what is going to happen.

Ramblingrose22 Tue 20-Sept-16 19:45:54

Sorry - meant to type "Now he is saying that he can win..." etc.

trisher Tue 20-Sept-16 19:50:05

Healthy eating Anniebach

Smileless2012 Tue 20-Sept-16 20:02:45

I like plain chocolate digestives (especially when dunked) jammy dodgers and ginger snaps gillybob. Don't know what that says about me and if anyone thinks they know, please don't tell me (unless it's complementary of course grin).

gillybob Tue 20-Sept-16 20:08:51

I love ginger snaps too Smileless2012 Even I smile sometimes, and I'm a miserable cow

I did once dye my hair ginger (and it went very red) so that could be the connection. I love leaving them in my tea and then sucking the lovely gingery tea out.

thatbags Tue 20-Sept-16 20:09:03

It's easy to fire up young people with simplistic idealism. Weren't we all idealists when we were young and naive?

Fave bisc: my own homemade nutty seedy flapjack. Can't be beaten. Don't care what it says about me, my professional cook friend and my son-out-law think it's the best. That's good enough for me.

gillybob Tue 20-Sept-16 20:10:04

Do you have the recipe for those please thatbags I love nutty, seedy things.
