As I made a mistake and posted in 'Brexit, power to the people' - here is Brexit4.

I know some of you don't like 'experts' or their opinions, but I do urge all to listen to this man again, from Liverpool University, calmly and expertly explaining what the single market is, and how it does work

Row in cabinet seems to be getting worse. May issued a confidence vote in Hammond this morning. That is often the kiss of death.

Hammond is clearly very worried about the way Brexit is threatened to go.

rose it could yet come. We are better informed because we understand German, and do not have to decide whether the DM or the SUN or the telegraph or FB are telling the truth.

If you had read the links that Granjura put up for us then you would know what the situation is and realise how hard it is going to be to get out.
Main thing you have your sentmental patriotic feelings intact, and your own rules and less money to play with.

I love England too, and wish it had never happened. I see my grandchildren's future well being in Germany, in the EU as being a much better option.

Losing the plot. It's interesting to see what happens when people are shown into the Brexit department.

"It is astonishing to see ministerial scrutiny, especially from a chancellor, being framed in a negative context. The clear underlying thought behind the comment is that a commitment to Brexit should be the motivating force in Hammond's mind, with concerns about the likely consequences an afterthought.

We see the same thing across government. Trade body officials visiting Davis at the Brexit department report being taken aside by civil servants and told to go in saying that Brexit opens up many possibilities. If they enter making critical comments they are shown the door after five minutes. Any view outside of hard Brexit is intolerable."

I can't find the article you are discussing.

It sounds profoundly made, a spoof in fact up so can you provide a link for viewing please.

"Perhaps Brexiteers are secretly longing for a bit of punishment"...

Are you talking about my post re the Swiss Referendum which uses the word 'threatening'?

Welshwife Mon 17-Oct-16 17:15:52

Maybe this will answer the question of whether or not the referendum was binding ps

POGS Mon 17-Oct-16 17:23:02

I don't understand what your point is to 'rose'. What could yet come?

I don't see anything in your post that is not just an attack on the papers you assume people get their information from, a supposition that German speaking people are better informed than those of us in the UK and finally a rather nasty comment 'Main thing you have your sentmental patriotic feelings intact' which is obviously meant to belittle.

What is your post to 'rose' about please?

rosesarered Mon 17-Oct-16 17:24:48

Of course Margaret every post you put on the forum tells us how wonderful Germany is, and how the UK does things all wrong.
We will get out of the EU, and govern ourselves , and you know what? Money isn't everything, going to hell in a handcart with the EU as it gets ever bigger and more cumbersome is now not something we will have to put up with.Nor is the massive corruption and equally massive bureaocracy.
Who said it would be easy? But it is doable, and we will be doing it.
I wish you well of the EU you are welcome to it!

Welsh wife 17.15

Who were you posting to re the EU Referendum?

I don't follow?

rosesarered Mon 17-Oct-16 17:28:47

I assumed the post from Margaret was yet another attack on a poster for daring to vote to leave.

Welshwife Mon 17-Oct-16 17:31:12

I have been out all day and was catching up and up thread pogs you ask the question as to whether the result of the vote was binding and the answer would appear to be 'no'.

rosesarered Mon 17-Oct-16 17:33:43

I understand that the referendum was advisory, but it was always going to be implemented.

Welshwife Mon 17-Oct-16 17:40:07

If that was the case it should have been stated before the vote took place!

rosesarered Mon 17-Oct-16 17:43:01

Would not have been any point having a referendum if it was never going to be implemented.Parliament will not go against the majority vote of the people.

Ana Mon 17-Oct-16 17:47:25

I think most people thought the referendum vote would be acted upon.

Should have checked with the House of Commons Library beforehand, obviously...

rosesarered Mon 17-Oct-16 17:52:36

....oh all they have in there are Harry Potter books Ana grin

POGS Mon 17-Oct-16 18:01:47

Welshwife

I thought you were posting to me although my name wasn't written in full.

I'm sorry but where have I asked if the result of the vote was binding?

Are you confusing me with somebody else?

Welshwife Mon 17-Oct-16 18:34:49

Pogs I think i may have got confused with a remark you made about a Swiss referendum!

granjura Mon 17-Oct-16 19:25:59

Roses your post at 17.24.48 to Margaret is truly nasty and vindictive sad unbelievable. How can such posts contribute to a debate? You do know the war is over, don't you?!?

Ana Mon 17-Oct-16 19:34:47

Margaret's post was patronising and sarcastic, granjura.

Like you, she seems to be obsessed with the idea that everyone in the UK who doesn't absolutely love the EU reads the DM and the Sun. Terribly sorry we don't all speak German!

And our mention of 'the war' was out of order.

Ana Mon 17-Oct-16 19:35:30

'your' mention...

daphnedill Mon 17-Oct-16 19:41:50

You forgot the Daily Express, Ana.

Ana Mon 17-Oct-16 19:46:24

No, they never mention that one, Daphnedill.

rosesarered Mon 17-Oct-16 19:54:59

granjura my post was in response to one made to me , I see no reason to turn the other cheek at all.Naturally you rally to the other poster, as they are in agreement with you about Brexit.
Your remark about 'the war' was pretty pathetic.

daphnedill Mon 17-Oct-16 20:22:13

Maybe the Daily Express really is beyond the pale. ;-)
