Paul Nuttell is according to the poles is 10% ahead in the Stoke bi-election, so I thought I would look at some of his beliefs. I was astounded at how similar they are to Trumps.

1. Privatisation of the NHS - this has been taken from his website because he needs the votes. Privatisation of the NHS doesn't attract votes.

2. Wants a referendum to vote on restricting woman's rights. He is anti-abortion, and believes that there should be a ban on adverts for family planning and abortion.

3. Burka ban. In all public buildings.

4. Against banning discrimination against gays.

5. So he believes in placing restrictions on Muslim belief/culture, but is against any restriction to Christian beliefs.

6. Thinks sexist comment are OK, and against placing restrictions on these type of comments.

No wonder he was so thrilled when Trump won the election.

There are quite a few people who think we have already left the EU I think - so why they should vote UKIP I can't imagine. Other than that they see it as an anti-immigration party maybe?

whitewave Tue 07-Feb-17 09:41:44

I see the UKIP rabble have taken on the alternative fact idea with enthusiasm. We all know about Nuttall and Farage, but Jane Collins a ukip mep has been fined 150k. She lied about some Labour people.

gillybob Tue 07-Feb-17 09:44:23

Did she lie ww or were her words just badly chosen ? Perhaps her mistake was to name names. Never a good idea unless you have absolute proof.

whitewave Tue 07-Feb-17 10:05:45

She was fined for libel. Still no doubt the payment she receives from the EU will come in handy.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 07-Feb-17 10:32:45

To prove a libel case in this country you only have to prove that what you say is true (it didn't used to be like that). If she has been found guilty she was saying something she could not prove to be true. Isn't that usually a lie?

whitewave Tue 07-Feb-17 10:47:50

Of course gg why is anyone surprised that a ukipper has lied. Stock in trade to them.

rosesarered Tue 07-Feb-17 10:52:55

Stock in trade is going a bit far ( for any political party) but there do seem to be a lot of deceitful politicians around, probably always have been, but easier to find them out these days.

whitewave Tue 07-Feb-17 11:03:04

Well let's have a look at all the ukip representatives then look to see if they have been accused of lying. Shan't bore you with the result as you will know them.

MaizieD Tue 07-Feb-17 12:53:56

The kangaroo Jess court:
Off with his head!

Perhaps it would have been better if Jess had used the word 'caught' instead of 'accused'. Nutall was caught lying about several things. There is evidence.

JessM Tue 07-Feb-17 13:15:34

I was being charitable and diplomatic.
"Accused" does not equal "found guilty in a court of law" . It's like that other useful word "alleged".
If I wasn't being so careful, I could have posted something like "He is a proven liar and cheat" But I didn't.

MawBroon Tue 07-Feb-17 15:12:36

Talking of deceitful people à propos of Farage's" lodger" , far from still being happily married, our Nige has apparently been "out of the marriage" for some years.
Oh dear, am I doing a "whataboutery"??

Farage's denial of an affair reminds me of Bill Clinton" I did not have sexual relationships with that woman ". Spending time with his family LOL ?

Iam64 Tue 07-Feb-17 20:47:21

Gillybob, it was more than a case of badly chosen words. "perhaps her mistake was to name names. never a good idea unless you have absolute proof". She named three people, including Sarah Champion, a local labour MP, saying they knew about child sexual exploitation but did nothing. That was not true, I don't know if she deliberately lied, she may just have spoken hermpersonal prejudiced ideas and not expected to be sued and found to have libelled these people.
She was in the wrong in a big way. She's been found out

Mair Tue 07-Feb-17 21:07:42

There are quite a few people who think we have already left the EU I think - so why they should vote UKIP I can't imagine.

Some of them voted Remain. I spoke to a young girl working in a shop just after the referendum who thought we had come out immediately after the referendum. She wasnt particularly bothered I dont think, probably did as a parent or boyfriend told her.

And of course most of the unaware didnt vote at all!

Anniebach Tue 07-Feb-17 22:12:08

Why do as her parents or boyfriend told her to, some vote then let it go and get on with life .

This is interesting. Paul Nuttall says he has changed his mind on the privatisation of the NHS, saying the NHS doesn't have enough doctors and nurses.

I wonder if Ukippers agree with him.
I also wonder when he'll change his mind again.

Mair Wed 08-Feb-17 01:10:29

I also wonder when he'll change his mind again

Politicians change their minds, look at John Bercow used to be a Monday Clubber now the hero of the left and Lib Dems.

Even Corbyn swapped from Brexiter to Bremainer and back, although mostly his politics set in stone at eighteen

suzied Wed 08-Feb-17 05:49:11

Let's face it, some voters ( and politicians) are dim.

whitewave Wed 08-Feb-17 08:33:32

dj it might be and probably is alternative facts as it's difficult to keep up with what is true and what is not.

Anniebach Wed 08-Feb-17 08:47:27

This is serious, I have to defend Nuttall. He has changed his mind in the NHS, Corbyn allegedly changed his mind on leaving the E.U, he said with hindsight he was wrong claiming Hamas as his friends . Clegg chsnged his mind on tuition fees, Cameron changed his mind often.

I changed my mind on Corbyn as leader, people do change their minds

GracesGranMK2 Wed 08-Feb-17 10:05:43

I believe you have changed your mind Annie - who could not. Some of the others are rather more suspicious and Nuttall's is very iffy. Even if he really has changed his mind he may change it back again whilst some of the others you mention have stuck with what they have said and followed up on it.

Firecracker123 Wed 08-Feb-17 13:03:39

Suzied your post of yesterday 07.42 that a poster was dim, whether he is or not who knows, but in my view he would be even dimmer to vote Labour in again.

Anniebach Wed 08-Feb-17 13:07:42

True Gracesgran, I wouldn't trust the man enough to ask him the time ,

Anniebach Wed 08-Feb-17 14:51:11

For anyone concerned. Hope not Hate have an appeal for donations to fight Nuttall
