Totally agree with you Yorkshiregel, well said.
How do you hang your washing out?

Sometimes it’s just the small things that press the bruise isn’t it? 😢
Well its been announced that Jeremy Corbyn is applying a three line whip to his MPs to make them support the triggering of article 50.
I admire Jeremy for this, it's an act of leadership, and it could save Labours bacon in the many Northern Brexit seats that they hold, so in that sense I am not entirely pleased because it will weaken UKIPs chances. It will also weaken Paul Nuttalls chances in Stoke.
What do the Bremain Labour supporters on GN feel about this?
Totally agree with you Yorkshiregel, well said.
Two good posts there Yorkshiregel
The clever nephew who works as an engineer has had a great career opportunity to move to a job in Paris because presumably he is a British citizen and free to move to another EU country which offers him a job.
If the brexiteers have their way our grandchildren will never have this opportunity.
When borders are open it is not just EU people who come here it is everybody who wants a new life, and some who want a new life where they get everything they need but do not pay a penny towards it.
I really cannot for the life of me work out what you are saying here, Yorkshiregel.
We don't have open borders to anyone apart from EU citizens and even they are only entitled to be here if they have a job.
Who are these people who want a new life where they get everything they need without paying a penny for it?
Personally I do not think it is right to take the 'Brightest ad the Best' from poor countries. How will they manage without them? We should educate our own who are bright enough.
Maybe if people had not gone to Glastonbury and went instead to vote the Remainers might have won the Referendum, but I am very pleased they didn't.
A lot of the doom and gloom of leaving the EU has not materialised, that is because they were mostly lies by the Government to manipulate the people to vote to stay with the EU. Cameron should be ashamed of his performance re: negotiating our terms. He was a complete failure, but he would/could not admit it so he ran like a scared rabbit.
I do agree with you sometimes DJ
There are times when we all feel negative.
Jalima, you are right, never assume that people who pick fruit are all uneducated. My nephew who I mentioned has an MEng(Hons) in engineering, he lives in Paris now and he speaks fluent French.
I do not object to controlled immigration, but what the EU want us to do is just madness. When borders are open it is not just EU people who come here it is everybody who wants a new life, and some who want a new life where they get everything they need but do not pay a penny towards it. When you get mass immigration of people who are willing to work for a pittance then that brings other people's wages down and you get a downwards spiral in to poverty. We should only admit people who we need, nurses for example, but we should also invest in our own people and train them up first.
Tuition fees are a bone of contention too. How can our own children reach their full potential if they are saddled with a 50 thousand pound debt which will only be repaid when they are pensioners like us? Most graduates are employed in jobs that offer more than 21 thousand pounds so they are more or less having to pay the tuition fees/loans back straight away after they qualify from University. Now it Mrs May's opportunity to invest in our own youngsters instead of sending money off to countries who do not need it.
So as you can tell I voted to leave the EU.
I believe that Mrs May should get on and start the ball rolling. I think there should be an inquiry on how we were conned in the first place and our country signed away by Ted Heath when they knew EXACTLY what it would lead to. The History of the EU gives all the details and you can google it as I did. If you need a link I can supply it.
Farmers can find people here who are willing to pick fruit or veg. My nephew was one of them. The problem is that a lot of these farmers are exploiting immigrants and paying less than the minimum wage. Our people are not lazy they just do not want to be exploited.
I think we have treated our Commonwealth people really badly. I am surprised they want anything more to do with us.
I think our Armed Forces have been deliberately cut to the bone so that we could be absorbed in to this EU Army, which we seem to have escaped with the skin of our teeth.
Now after years of running our steel industry down because it is not cost affective we are being told that British steel has a lot to offer! More lies from Cameron et al.
Hopefully Stoke will grab Nutel then there will be another UKIP member to keep tabs on the Government. Stoke was deliberately run down by Cameron and the Pottery industries which have been there since Victorian days have all but gone now, some are coming back thank goodness. Most of the people were on their uppers after that happened. No alternate being given by the government for work. The same happened with the steel industry. Give people a job and they will drag themselves out of poverty. Give them pride and they will take pride in their communities.
I cannot wait for BREXIT to be triggered. Thank God we got our country back from the brink. We are already seeing that our country can manage on its own. All those who preached doom and gloom must see that it will be good for this country in the long run.
Being fearful of more immigrants does not mean all who fear thrm are racists, I have no idea what it's like to live in an area where there are a large number of immigrants and I abhor racism but I am able to understand why people do not want immigrants .
I wish those who dismiss all as racists had the ability to do the same.
I do know how these people feel when they experience the loss of their community
I wasn't commenting on that, just the slur on seasonal farm workers whom you assumed are not the brightest or best.
You may be right that some are not nuclear scientists etc but some may be - and earning during their holidays.
Never assume anything.
By the way, Anya, don't forget that you have occasionally said you agree with me. Aberrations, obviously.
Jalima, that's not what is going to happen, though, is it?
After Brexit, we are not going to allow people in just to pick fruit and veg. Those are the ones Brexiteers want to keep out, so that the lazy British who take unemployment benefits can have the work. It's going to be all change in two years time, didn't you know?
"I don't think Ana has the ear of the PM and her cabinet DJ."
Ana doesn't need that to tell us what she thinks, Anya.
The farmer who is going to lose all his workers does not want the brightest and the best to pick the fruit and veg next year.
That is rather a sweeping statement about the intelligence of farm workers, many of whom are temporary or seasonal.
How many are doing that job just to earn money before they go back home again - perhaps to go on to study etc, or as a stepping stone to a better job here or elsewhere?
Morgana
Do you know Stoke and its people well?
That is so depressing morgana
Would think it very likely that Stoke will elect the awful Nutell .it is a very deprived area which has lost all of its industry over the years. It has also become quite racist. UKIP know how to press all the right buttons to sway the people of Stoke. Unfortunately.
newnanny I assume you are aware that non-EU immigration continues to exceed EU immigration in this country.
newnanny I assume you are one of those I referred to as 'the average, thinking Brexiteer' ....with all those degrees i would have thought you'd have been able to understand my point
The cap on nursing students has been abolished according to this article from 2015 what has been cut is the grant to nurses to train.
newnanny 3 degrees
some people are just plain greedy !!!!!! Well done you though. Are they all related?
I'm not too quick to do anything newnanny I think about things carefully and I think you've actually misinterpreted my post too.
And newnanny to uphold the will of the people, at least that's what one of the 'expert' speakers on Radio 4 was saying.
Anya I voted to Brexit and I am not racist or uneducated as I have three degrees. I just think necessary immigration should be from rest of world and not just EU countries. Also we pay in very high contribution compared with what we receive out of EU. I work with students and know many who cannot get a job partly because of high immigration. I agree we need health workers etc but if we did not cap how many of our own students could study for nursing and other health related courses then we would not need to import so many nurses. The year before last I had three students wanting to do a nursing degree but due to cap only one got accepted, keen students with three good A levels in the end had to choose other careers because not able to study nursing. Maybe you are too quick to stereotype those who voted Brexit without knowing their motivation.
At the end of the day parliament voted to give the referendum vote to the people and everyone had an equal chance of voting and the majority vote was to leave the EU. If vote given to people then their voice should be respected. Labour are in a tough position as they had constituents vote to leave and remain in almost equal proportion. If Labour supporters in Brexit areas see Labour MP's vote against the Bill then they are likely to vote against Labour at next General Election. Really the best option to me would be to support Bill to trigger Brexit as all MP's will get final vote over package deal offered whether to accept or reject and walk away with just WTO terms. Most effort needs to go into building up good trade deals with rest of the world which will ultimately determine our wealth as a nation.
