Well its been announced that Jeremy Corbyn is applying a three line whip to his MPs to make them support the triggering of article 50.

I admire Jeremy for this, it's an act of leadership, and it could save Labours bacon in the many Northern Brexit seats that they hold, so in that sense I am not entirely pleased because it will weaken UKIPs chances. It will also weaken Paul Nuttalls chances in Stoke.

What do the Bremain Labour supporters on GN feel about this?

If you are against brexit and were opposed to the Iraq war support the Liberal Democrats

Jalima Fri 17-Feb-17 19:24:22

I just said the same thing to DH.
He can say what he likes, no-one has to listen.

However, someone should point out to him that he didn't listen to the general public himself, so tough s***t if no-one listens to you and your prattling now.

Jalima Fri 17-Feb-17 19:26:21

sorry, annie I know you don't like swearing and I meant to say 'tough stint'

Blair is a twat.

durhamjen Fri 17-Feb-17 20:17:41

This is an interesting read. I'm not sure if it makes things any clearer. In fact it makes things more scary.

What a fool Tony Blair is ,trying to get back on the political stage with his nonsense about Brexit. It is much too late Tone, that boat has sailed.

Anniebach Fri 17-Feb-17 20:42:54

Jalima, you comment was understandable . I could say far worse about he i must not name. Blair is perfectly aware of the bitterness directed at him but spoke out because no one else has.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 17-Feb-17 21:27:35

There is a public outcry now for others and if UKIP, which stands for what I want, which is a UK independent party, Im all for it. Labour is just a laughable sham. Tories are up their arse snobs that haven't got a clue about normal working class people. Hopefully the elite that call normal bigots, racists and underclass are having a run of it and will be gone.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 17-Feb-17 21:32:55

The normal working class person in Germany and France to say but a couple are really struggling with this stupid free movement policy. NO, borders need to be controlled and countries can work together without having to be invaded by too many other cultures and peoples on mass.

So Tony Blair wants us to 'Rise Up Against Brexit'

The last time we rose up was when he took us into Iraq and a fat lot of good that did us.

How insulting to people who believe in a democracy.

Anniebach Fri 17-Feb-17 22:06:54

Was Iraq the last time we were involved in war?

stillaliveandkicking Fri 17-Feb-17 22:12:26

All of these people that take us anywhere that isn't our war, no one attacked us, is stupid. Tony Blair was one of them amongst others. Leave people alone in their own country to fight their own wars whether it be civil or not.

we now have mr sadiqu khan telling us that he wants to bring in some sort of mad rule that any car over 10 years old going into the city will have to pay 10£ a day more, how stupid, out of touch with the normal worker is that! what it tell me is the city of london is for the "elite". really?

durhamjen Fri 17-Feb-17 23:13:52

It's about pollution.

Who should pay for pollution in London? People who never go anywhere near there?

'Drivers of older, more polluting cars will be charged an extra levy for entering central London from 23 October, the Mayor of London has announced.

Sadiq Khan said the £10 ‘Toxicity Charge’ would apply in the congestion charging zone typically to petrol and diesel cars registered before 2005.

“It’s staggering that we live in a city where the air is so toxic that many of our children are growing up with lung problems,” Khan said. “The T-Charge is a vital step in tackling the dirtiest diesels.”

The move comes two days after the European Commission issued the government with its “final warning” for breaching legal pollution limits.'

Some people seem to have a massive chip on their shoulder. No wonder Paul Nuttall wants to make chips VAT zero rated. hmm

durhamjen Fri 17-Feb-17 23:38:24

Being vegetarian, I feel discriminated against. Haven't bought fish and chips for over forty years.
Is that good or bad, being discriminated against by Paul Nuttall?

stillaliveandkicking Fri 17-Feb-17 23:43:34

I remember the government making people buy diesel cars. Now these people that run them are wrong.
I however have a normal car that runs on petrol, however its over 10 years old, so i need to pay 10 a day if my car is over 10 years old? really? this bloke is a twat.

MawBroon Fri 17-Feb-17 23:52:17

Nobody in their right minds takes their car into the congestion zone let alone Central London if they can help it anyway!

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Feb-17 00:03:09

well sometimes they do. why should it be out of bounds. why should there be a charge to go from one end of london to the other. why should you be penalised to have a car over 10 years old. disgusting. i cant afford a new car. this is a bit weird and part of some sort of scheme to keep it elite or don't you think so?

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 00:26:13

Agreed MawBroon. Anybody with intelligence exceeding that of the average goldfish, who wants to drive from one end of London to the other, goes round the congestion zone.

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 00:36:27

What is a 'normal worker' anyway?

The majority of people of working age are workers. Normality is a relative concept, but I would imagine most of them think they're normal.

In case it's escaped your notice, saak, the UK hardly has any factories and mines. We don't have millions of people living in council houses breeding pigeons and wearing flat caps (apart from Paul Nuttall, of course).

Normal working people are just as likely to have degrees, work in offices and and service industries. Thatcher and Blair both recognised that. Leaving the EU will hit these people hard, just as it will the disabled, pensioners and those still working in remaining industries.

Your motivation for wanting to leave the EU to watch people sweat, trying to come up with a solution, and then laughing because a good outcome is impossible, is pathetic. It says a lot about you.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Feb-17 01:08:22

Im lucky. My son is at uni doing a math degree. so many aren't. why aren't we investing in our kids that have something other than academia?

durhamjen Sat 18-Feb-17 01:18:25

Not heard of apprenticeships?

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 07:17:35

What on earth does your son have to do with Article 50? Are you American, by the way?

There are plenty of opportunities for young people who don't want to go to university. Going to university isn't necessarily 'going into academia' anyway.

suzied Sat 18-Feb-17 09:42:34

I find saak's description of Mayor Khan as a "twat" offensive. The air quality in London is toxic and he is trying to do something about it. You already have a £10 congestion charge and he is doubling that for older polluting diesel vehicles he also wants to phase out diesel buses. Doesn't go far enough in my opinion as a Londoner.
