Article 50

Well its been announced that Jeremy Corbyn is applying a three line whip to his MPs to make them support the triggering of article 50.

I admire Jeremy for this, it's an act of leadership, and it could save Labours bacon in the many Northern Brexit seats that they hold, so in that sense I am not entirely pleased because it will weaken UKIPs chances. It will also weaken Paul Nuttalls chances in Stoke.

What do the Bremain Labour supporters on GN feel about this?

Nothing surprises me any more. We don't live in a world, in which logic and reason matter.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 26-Jan-17 22:28:08

I am really surprised about the three-line whip.

Corbyn applying a three line whip, by any chance?

confused

So what do you think the OP actually wanted to discuss?

Ana Thu 26-Jan-17 21:21:25

What have recent posts got to do with the OP?

Are you all obsessed with UKIP? confused

Kirsty is our AM and a good one

daphnedill Thu 26-Jan-17 19:48:45

Thank you for pointing that out.

whitewave Thu 26-Jan-17 19:42:44

Competent and UKIP are not words you would associate together

daphnedill Thu 26-Jan-17 19:40:50

Indeed! As I wrote, they're probably more competent at cover-ups.

rosesarered Thu 26-Jan-17 19:38:22

On 'punching each other'......who knows what goes on in the bar in Westminster when they have had a few?grin

Kirsty Williams is a brilliant Liberal Democrat who is quite prepared to work with others to help the people she has been elected to serve.

I so agree with what Kirsty is doing with the Infant schools Annie - wish someone had done it sooner.

Anniebach Thu 26-Jan-17 18:58:13

Whitewave, the leader of the Libs in Wales and Plaid Cymru are both female, they voted for Carwen for leader and in the Senydd he referred to them as the first ministers concubines. Needless to say Leanne blew a fuse , he had to apologise to the two women and to the assembly

whitewave Thu 26-Jan-17 18:38:07

grin

daphnedill Thu 26-Jan-17 18:36:44

roses I don't think they punch each other unconscious - or maybe they're just better at cover-ups?

daphnedill Thu 26-Jan-17 18:35:22

If Nuttall wins, will he have to resign from being an MEP? Not that it really matters. His attendance has been 736th out of 756 MEPs. He'll be too busy making sure he doesn't get stabbed in the back to do anything for Stoke.

whitewave Thu 26-Jan-17 18:35:12

At least the main stream parties have a manifesto that we can all read. UKIP doesn't appear to know what it stands for except bigotry

rosesarered Thu 26-Jan-17 18:34:08

Good for Corbyn, the only bit of leadership he has shown.

rosesarered Thu 26-Jan-17 18:32:57

Don't all the parties?

suzied Thu 26-Jan-17 18:27:15

The only consolation is that UKIP seem to be a party which doesn't agree amongst itself. The members seem to fall out at the drop of a hat.

whitewave Thu 26-Jan-17 18:25:04

And my MP

daphnedill Thu 26-Jan-17 18:21:21

Labour MPs Daniel Zeichner (Cambridge) and Ben Bradshaw (Exeter) have also said they will vote against triggering Article 50. Both represent constituencies which voted Remain. In the case of Cambridge, over 71% voted Remain. I wonder if anything will happen to them.
