Apologies if there is a new Trump thread, but the only one I could find had hit the magic 1000 posts mark.
Just seen this on Facebook. Makes excellent sense.

For those who think we shouldn't care about what trump is doing in the US, as it has nothing to do with us.

Brilliant!

Angela Merkel has been stopped from sending asylum seekers back to these 3 'safe countries.' Tunisia, Algeria, morocco. Unlike Trump, she told these people that they were welcome, and come they did in their 10s of 1,000s. But now, because her head is on the block Re the next general election and some of the heinous court cases involving men from North Africa she's changed her mind.
She was hoping that this change of heart would send a message to the 1,000s who are still getting in boats to cross the Med.

Amazing what power, or the potential lack of, does to some.

durhamjen Sat 11-Mar-17 23:19:26

Careful what you wish for, petra.

I do hope trump has seen this.

That's so uplifting, thanks DJ

durhamjen Mon 13-Mar-17 23:11:34

Yes, gives you some hope for America, doesn't it, Lewlew?
You need to put it in your favourites and look at it every time you feel despondent. Turn the volume down, though.

Lewlew Tue 14-Mar-17 11:08:31

Yes, DJ I will...had to look at it again this morning after that awful stupid explanation by his mouthpiece for the fool's tweets about accusing Obama of the wire-tapping. Maybe his lawyers told him he might be sued for libel?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39262158

One can only wish! grin

The loss of health insurance is the other news downer... more choices? lower costs? Pull the other one. Elderly and poor will not be allowed to pick and choose.

Nowadays I just do not watch the US news... too depressing for hte most part.

I see the blizzard hitting the east coast has delayed Merkel from her meeting with him till Friday now.

My friends in NH are battening down the hatches after a very mild winter.

durhamjen Thu 16-Mar-17 21:23:26

Here's something else to cheer you up, Lewlew.

" Something fantastic just happened. The Dutch Trump, Geert Wilders, who was leading in the Netherlands' election race right up to the last moment, was just defeated!

Wilders had promised to close all mosques, pull the Netherlands out of the EU and ban the Koran. After Brexit and Trump, the whole world was watching to see if the far-right would continue its terrifying rise.

But in the end, the Dutch people struck a beautiful blow against Trumpism. The tide just turned against the global spread of fascist politics. And our movement was right in the middle. How?

20,000 marchers, 500km on a bus, 5 million views, 300,000 reached with newspaper ads, and a community united against hate. "

whitewave Thu 16-Mar-17 21:45:36

Getting back to Trump. The wolves certainly seem to be circling. His edict has been struck down again. And he is definately going to have to explain his remark about Obama and wire tapping. That together with the Russian stuff, his behaviour prior to the election, his tax returns etc. The noose seems to be getting tighter and tighter.

durhamjen Thu 16-Mar-17 23:12:27

Wow, it seems it was GCHQ that bugged Trump Tower!

inews.co.uk/essentials/news/sean-spicer-gchq-bugged-trump-towers-barack-obama/

Poor old Sean Spicer gets all the good jobs.

Ankers Thu 16-Mar-17 23:22:51

Your link says it was done for Barack Obama, which is even worse.

Jalima Thu 16-Mar-17 23:29:04

Yeah, right, as if, whatever (as they say)

More fake news?

MawBroon Thu 16-Mar-17 23:33:04

No, <sigh> the link says that Sean Spicer claims GCHQ were responsible, which is nothing like the same thing.grin

White House press secretary Sean Spicer repeated claims last night that the British spy agency GCHQ bugged Donald Trump for Barack Obama in order to ensure there were “no American fingerprints” on the alleged surveillance.

Remember the "Bowling Green massacre" or "Last night in Sweden" ???

Ankers Thu 16-Mar-17 23:33:10

I cant see it on 3 other media sites yet. So it might be fake.

MawBroon Thu 16-Mar-17 23:33:58

<Shakes head and sighs again>

Ankers Thu 16-Mar-17 23:34:28

I do wish these spokespersons say facts rather than spin or whatever else it is.
It is very tiresome.

MawBroon Thu 16-Mar-17 23:37:47

Most people use their common sense at White House gobbledegook utterances these days.

durhamjen Thu 16-Mar-17 23:38:19

If Sean Spicer had to do facts, he wouldn't have anything to say.

MawBroon Thu 16-Mar-17 23:38:46

gringrin

Jalima Thu 16-Mar-17 23:44:20

Sean Spicer has apparently announced that a planned USA manned space mission to Mars has been abandoned as news has just been released that the Dutch got there first.

durhamjen Thu 16-Mar-17 23:47:17

You've checked that that's fact, I assume, Jalima.

Ankers Thu 16-Mar-17 23:50:23

I dont understand why they do those briefings at all. Would save themselves a whole lot of hassle. They are a stupid idea. In my opinion!
