I think the timing of Sturgeon's speech was the important point. It sent a message to the Government - just when they were voting to sign the divorce papers - Scotland must not be overlooked or we shall try to run away from The Union again. The Welsh and Irish are issuing mild threats also. It's all part of the game of politics.

English Scots for YES
(1001 Posts)this weekend saw the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Jeremy Coorbyn both north of the border giving us "the facts" about Nationalism .They couldn't BE more wrong ,Scottish Nationalism ,unlike English Nationalism or Britnats is INCLUSIVE we dont care where you were born if you live here you're Scottish by Coice. Here is a link to what the group English scots for YES have to say about the interference from Mr Khan and Mr Corbyn ...it might surprise you.I have found a lot of people on here are very misinformed about Scotland and our efforts towards independence ,lets see if this helps .http://www.englishscotsforyes.org/2017/02/26/on-nationalism/
On Nationalism… – English Scots for YES
Many of you will have seen the comments of London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan over the weekend to Scottish Labour’s annual conference; many of you will share the outrage felt by our members, by supporters of Scottish independence, and indeed across the Scottish political spectrum at what we feel is a complet...

The SNP don't represent everybody's views in Scotland ( thank goodness) and it's hard to see many voting for independence soon, that boat has sailed, and sunk.
Because Scotland cant stand on its own and doesnt want to stand on its own either granny23 maybe if the snp stopped whining on about joining Europe they might get somewhere. Even my Brother who is the only person i know who voted yes in 2014 voted Brexit.
Wee Nicky's name was mentioned in our local yesterday and the fool who dared to mention her name wished to god he had never uttered it.
But Independence or as you call it 'seperatism' IS, in my very considered opinion, the best, indeed the only way forward for Scotland and its people. The alternative is to remain as a remote backwater of a Disunited Kingdom which will always prioritise the needs and wishes of London & the SE where the bulk of the population, the elite and ultimate power resides.
Why is Nichola Sturgeon always criticised for looking after the best interests of Scotland and told to get on with the Day Job when her job IS to look after the best interests of Scotland? Why is Theresa May not criticised for spending all her time talking about Brexit when she has the whole UK to look after and in particular the English as Westminster is the only Parliament they have? And finally why is a Scottish desire for sovereignty to be deplored when a British desire to regain sovereignty (to take back power) is to be applauded.
I have raised the topic of Nicola Sturgeon 'Declaring' she wants a 2nd Referendum between Autumn 2018 and Spring 2019 as this thread was about English Scots for Yes and I thought her declaration deserved a thread of it's own.
If I have upset anybody I apologise but I do not consider it to be a thread about a thread .
Nicola Sturgeon is obsessed with the separatist agenda, irrespective of what might be best for the Scottish people.

It's not just about independence, though.
This makes interesting reading.

Who is responsible for agriculture, and how is the money we retain, if any, shared out?
Same goes for health and social care.
The only people I know who would vote for independence work in large govt organisations or are either retired or unemployed. People who work in businesses ie the places who contribute directly to the economy by making and selling goods or services are absolutely against independence. These are the people who create jobs for others.
Its hard to understand why people don't see that it would be just plain daft to vote yes.
In 2014 the SNP based their economic case for separatism on oil revenues. How wrong were they? Not just a little bit wrong.
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) now estimates that revenues from the North Sea will total just £900m in 2017-18 due to the fall in prices, compared to the £11.8bn best-case figure predicted by the Scottish Government in 2013.

really ? i still only know 1 person who would vote for idependence.
Latest Poll shows another rise in support for Independence:

Jalima Calling anyone who doesn't agree with her/him Bawbags isn't rude then?
But you were all attacking Paddyann for saying it, when it wasn't actually her at all.
(Mind you, if some posts were better punctuated it might be easier to not get the wrong end of the stick
)
Another view of May's speech to Scottish Tories.

Maybe they do just that dj. They won't be exactly thrilled that they are seen as something to get out of.
Here is an extract from a non-rude non-ranty view of Theresa May's recent speech in Scotland.
"Nicola Sturgeon should “get on with the day job”, said the prime minister currently presiding over an omnishambles in every aspect of domestic life. Of course, Scotland’s first minister has questions to answer about educational attainment and a fumbled farm payments system. But one benefit of watching network news these days is wall-to-wall coverage of the domestic difficulties of life in England under the Tories."

Do you think that's how the EU think of the UK?
We don't want you to go!
But when I read some posts I do think, 'well, go then, see how you get on, see if I care'.
Sorry!
I think the OP is English living in Scotland and, as an English person, I feel embarrassed by the rants and those in the links because our Scottish friends living in England (and some in Wales) are lovely!
Yes indeed Jalima calling people 'bawbags' is extremely offensive and sadly typical of the standard of debate of some SNP fanatics. The result of the last Scottish referendum may have come as a surprise due to their social media responses. 'No' voters didn't dare mention their likelihood to vote no online due to the very unpleasant (to put it mildly) responses from SNP fans.
The economic case was unanswerable last time and is much more so now. Theresa May said it all in her speech yesterday. I'm not a Tory voter but I'm open to persuasion now!

Like other British Overseas Territories and Overseas Territories of other EU countries they are not members of the EU; however Gibraltar is because it is part of the European geographical landmass.
However, they all have an interest in the result.
Calling anyone who doesn't agree with her/him Bawbags isn't rude then?
You may be right varian
I couldn't possibly wade back through all of paddy's posts to verify it
I mistook her for a he because of the "I am a 60 year old Englishman" quote
