But rain is wet Annie. What you think about the Tories is an opinion. Your argument for holding this opinion may be backed by your evidence of what they have done or will do but it is far from a fact in the same way. Someone else may hold a different opinion based on exactly the same evidence.

However, this is not what I was saying. You do not seem to be getting anything out of the constant barrage of opinion re JC and I fear you are not doing yourself any good. Obviously it is your choice though - I just thought I would say.

I suppose the Conservatives being 'good with the economy' is something like the Emperor's new clothes, if some people are told something by a posh bloke they will believe it in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

The next part of the quote however says:

He then advises politicians:

So all we can do, against any of them is to keep seeking real evidence of the truth.

What this particular GE is about really, is who you think would make the better Leader (and cabinet ) to deal with all the negotiations around leaving the EU.
This is not quite like a normal GE.
In five years time the GE then could be different, more based around domestic policies.
If Labour had a different Leader (now) then it's possible that many more would vote that way, but do enough people trust Corbyn and Co to get a good deal with the EU, as he is generally seen as a weak person.

Brexit is clearly the main issue and Labour rightly point to a likely hard Brexit if the tories are in power, but they seem reluctant to explain what terms they would seek. The EU say free movement of Labour is an absolute requirement for soft Brexit. Fine as far as I am concerned - good actually - but is that Labour policy?

Well, they have an uphill slog if they think that! Labour has promised to uphold Brexit, and only the Lib Dems are promising 'something' not another referendum but a referendum to accept the new deals ( and try and crawl back to Brussels.)
The Libs won't have the power to do anything though.

I agree with roses - Article 50 has been triggered and we need a government that can best negotiate for us - as things stand the unelected Lords could cause all sorts of mischief to any final deal - if TM wins this GE it will give her the mandate she needs.

I still want to know what Labour are saying here. Does anybody have any detail on what Brexit stance Labour propose on freedom of movement? And if it is anything other than " no restrictions" then to me, that looks like as hard a Brexit as anything ghetto suggest the tories will end up with.

No it isn't Roses. This election is about that for you (apparently) but others may feel it is about other things for them. You do like telling people what to think don't you.

fitz You have to wait for the manifesto, but if I was guessing I think they will acknowledge just as the Libs and Greens and remain Tories and some Brexiters that free movement will be desirable certainly in the short term, as London businesses and many other industries, particularly the NHS and agriculture can't function without a supply of this labour.

That's what happens in a democracy Ana. A new election brings a new mandate. Just think, it may be just what you want.

Well said Eloethan. I am shocked and surprised by your statement anniebach. I am, by now, fully aware of your view of the Labour Party but I had no idea you agreed with Thatcher's analysis of the miners strike. As someone from a mining area, to another from a mining area, I thought we shared some views in common. I was clearly wrong.

Hopefully Ana we will get what we want!
