Sorry should have said my last post was to Petra.

Exactly annie Never in a million years would I have said my OH would vote Tory.
Some people say that the older you get, the more conservative you become, but if you knew my OH you would understand how serious this is.

I can't get my head round that at all petra. I cannot imagine how any labour supporter could ever vote Tory. I have, over the years, been furious about what other leaders have done to the Labour Party as I knew it but there is nothing on this earth that could induce me to vote Conservative. Perhaps other parties, but Conservative never.

Even Cable said today on being asked about the Libs entering a pact with Labour said - never with Corybyn, he did not say never with labour

Surely lifelong labour supporters who decide to vote Tory will do so because they have been driven away by Corbyn and fear the far left take over of a party they have been loyal to for possibly many years.

I imagine some will Annie, but we really do need to understand that not everyone is as interested in politics as we are. Many "lifelong Labour supporters" became UKIP voters in the last election, then voted leave and will now vote Tory because all they are interested in currently is leaving the EU. Some may just be fed up with all the infighting from the PLP and some may just be fed up in general.

You are really stretching it to propose that all or even most lifelong supporters of Labour feel as you do; we have no way of knowing. Tribalism in voting patterns is disappearing all over the world so it isn't unreasonable to think that the trend that made many areas tribally Labour or tribally Conservative will change here too.

If we get a Tory government with a larger majority, pushing through ever more Draconian policies, will your DH be happy to feel that he contributed to that in his own small way?

He did once vote Tory. Because (a) there was no Labour candidate and (b) the alternative was a BNP candidate. He reckoned he'd be forgiven for such a tactical vote that was, after all, for the longest lasting democratic political party in Britain.

Re current times, I think a lot of people who are not natural Tory voters really do think Theresa May as PM is a good option. Without agreeing with her or her Party on everything, there is a feeling that what she wants is what they want: what is best for the country. Lots of people disagree. That's how it works in a democracy.

Of course, everybody wants what's best for the country - that goes without saying. Making such vague statements means nothing - what, for instance, is a "red white and blue" Brexit?

So easy to rant on about the working man v big businesses, he is also attacking small businesses.

Legal holidays are 28 day a year, this includes annual holidays and bank holidays,

So many small businesses which have started when work cannot be found will have to close . What of employers of two or three employees?

£400 per week for each employee, a rise in employers share if NIC , a rise in employers share of compulsory pension scheme.

Small hair salons, cafes , tea rooms, small building firms etc will close.

All that I can say is vote for the party you believe in and not tactically but whatever you decide use your vote.

The election was called ahead of time because Brexit is not working. Hopefully the new parliament will have the courage to act in the best interests of the country. If that means Brexit is given up and the EU is made less autocratic it would be the best of all worlds.

Let commmon sense prevail please.

Perhaps you have no intention of doing so and will leave the Labour Party.

DH and I are genuinely afraid of what "that idiot of a man" will do to small businesses in this country if he did get into power. We, and many like us could not survive and would have no option but to close our doors. We could not put our prices up in order to pay (for example) £400 per week to a second year apprentice (he already has to have living wage due to his age) plus the increased NI proposed etc.

I hope the people who think Corbyn is the second coming of Christ are happy when their children,grandchildren cannot find work due to the final nail in the coffin of manufacturing. The idiot obviously thinks every business (big and small) is run by fat cats paying themselves extortionate wages whilst keeping their employees on minimum wage.

Who can I vote for? Seriously?

I run a small business. I employ 7 people. DH works all the hours that God sends for way less than minimum wage. Our employees all enjoy a very good work / life balance and have a good wage. They work a 37.5 hour week and are paid overtime for every minute extra they work. I pay into their pensions. They have 28 days holiday. I pay them when they are off sick or have a family emergency. I think I am a very good employer. DH and I have put our life and every penny we have ever had into running our business. Our customers will not pay more money for our services.

JC seems hell bent on crippling/finishing small businesses.
