May is to make an important announcement at 11.15

petra Sun 23-Apr-17 09:35:25

whitewave I can't speak for anyone else but I for one make no excuses for what I have called Corbyn ( and Dianne Abbot). I've never seen Anniebach slating the Labour Party, just Corbyn.

Fitzy54 Sun 23-Apr-17 09:45:10

WW I wouldn't think Annie or anyone else who feel the Labour Party has changed overnight into a very different, much more left wing, party will have any problem suporting it again if it changes back.
Re capping energy charges - I would have thought you would approve of that, and would like the Tories to poach a few more labour ideas? All of them even?
TM also defying the right and keeping the .7% overseas aid policy, and, as I think you have alluded to, there is a very credible view that she intends to use this election to move her party more to the centre generally. I'm not surprised their support seems to be growing. Labour has deserted the centre ground and TM is out to grab a big share of it.

Jane10 Sun 23-Apr-17 09:50:26

And good luck to her!

whitewave Sun 23-Apr-17 09:50:42

petra perhaps I'm wrong then, but it just feels that annie has said absolutely zero, zilch, nothing in support of the Labour Party for months and months. I understood that she is a Labour Party member, and so am somewhat confused by her stance. Of course there is the marmite Leader, but that should not blind someone who is has been a staunch Labour Party supporter to Labour Party policies.

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:04:22

Gilly, he is so obsessed with his 'up the revolution csmpaign' he is out of touch with the real world. I did think of you along with many small business employers I know when I typed my posts . I dread the thought of having to choose who to keep in work and who to let go in my brothers firm. No more apprentices, no more taking on employees with disabilities which we have always done , do I choose the man who is totally deaf so cannot be left alone on site or the man with a disabled child who sometimes fails to come to work because he has taken his child for check ups, we still pay him.

I should pass the decision to the corbynites here ?

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:13:46

I have always fully supported the Labour Party, I do not support the communist leader , no different to the majority of labour MP's.

I see no reason to add to the many posts and links attacking the Tory government, I have never expected them be any different. I critcise Corbyn and have given my reasons, he doesn't give a damn for the Labour Party , he sees his life long dream of turning it into a communist party coming true.

As he has such support from UNITE how come 88% didn't bother to vote in their leadership contest?

Fitzy54 Sun 23-Apr-17 10:13:52

WW just to show quite what the current Labour leadership has done to its support, a poll published in the Times this morning says that the more people trust the Tories than Labour with management of the NHS!!
the message is simple. If there is to be a left wing Govt. it needs to be a moderate LWG, significantly to the right of the Corbyn/O'Donnell vision. I know that will upset the people who have waited decades for more radical leadership, but that's how it is. It reminds me of period in the Tory party where the right took control via IDS and Michael Howard.

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:17:23

And I have posted several times about my views on Yvette Cooper and her true socialist beliefs. For some reason the corbynites here ignore these posts. I suppose they don't because she isn't a trot or a militant,

gillybob Sun 23-Apr-17 10:18:54

Yes Anniebach I was hoping someone would argue his case for him.

My sister works in the public sector and she (and it would appear most of her colleagues) think he is some kind of God. The stupidity of it all is that if he gets into power we will see the demise of many small businesses and larger manufacturers will be forced to move out of the country. Who does she then think will pay her wages?

whitewave Sun 23-Apr-17 10:21:19

fitz I knowsad that's why I was yacking on yesterday about a broad left coalition, but it seems that it has no support from either Lib leader or Labour leader. The Greens are keen.

I guess I must accept that there may be a Tory sweep, just as there was a Labour sweep in the early first part of this century.

gillybob Sun 23-Apr-17 10:22:29

I was a Labour Party member. My late grandad (a proud miner all his life) would turn in his grave if I were to vote Conservative. But I am sure he would understand my reasons for doing so. Having said that a monkey would get into power in my constituency as long as he was standing for the LP.

whitewave Sun 23-Apr-17 10:23:12

annie why are you having to release some staff?

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:24:49

Oooops,If the Tories get back in I hope May will intervene on the price hikes of electricity companies, I struggle now to pay both my and my daughters bills. More important than four extra bank holidays to me

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:30:40

Whitewave, we cannot pass on the costs to customers , we already have to struggle against cash in hand small groups and cannot pay the extra rises in wages , NIC, pensions etc.

Anyway, have just spoken to my brother , he said he will shut down the firm so they will all go. No matter, they can get on their bikes

Fitzy54 Sun 23-Apr-17 10:37:10

Annie the Tories have just said they will intervene - they will cap future increases. I think we might see a few more policies like this from TM over the next few weeks.

gillybob Sun 23-Apr-17 10:37:38

I think Annie was responding to my earlier post Ww saying that if JC gets into power we will probably have to let some staff go as we will not be able to afford to pay them the proposed hike in wages and NI etc.

I gave an example of a second year apprentice to whom we already have to pay the living wage plus NI, pension etc. I could not afford to pay him £400 per week plus NI, pensions etc. he does not earn any money for the business and because of his age I also have to pay his full college fees (even though he doesn't go to college they send someone out twice a year to assess him grin .. Nice little earner for the college though as it works about at about £1000 per hour).

As I was typing the above I was thinking to myself that DH and I must be off our trolleys.

gillybob Sun 23-Apr-17 10:41:32

DH and I had that exact conversation last night Anniebach and sadly I think that is what we would probably be forced to do too. DH could go back to being Self employed.

The idiot should be getting out and speaking to real small business owners struggling as it is, to keep people in jobs. Instead of cooking up these crazy communist ideals. There will be some extra jobs created in the job centers though as quite a few more people will be signing on.

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:46:55

Fitzy ,i hope they will , if not I have no idea how I will pay any extra.

Chewbacca Sun 23-Apr-17 10:51:06

Corbyn's half baked idea of 4 extra bank holidays a year are estimated to cost the economy £9.2 billion per year. (The budget for international development is £11.1 billion per year, as a comparison.) On the Andrew Marr programme, Corbyn said the the reason he thinks that workers need 4 extra days a year holiday is so that they can spend more with their families. He's right, they will, because the impact on employers having to fund his largesse with their money will make it impossible for them to continue trading, and they'll all be out of a job. This is such a cheap and patronising gimmick; dreamt up to attract those who cannot envisage the devastation such a scheme would actually have on their jobs. How can anybody seriously think this man is a credible leader of any country?

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:51:07

Gilly, he has not the foggiest of the real world, the small towns, rural areas, small businesses in large and small towns . My brother ended our chat with - don't expect me to vote for labour .

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 10:53:03

Corbyn also said four extra days means more time to spend,

durhamjen Sun 23-Apr-17 10:56:19

I think anybody who cares anything at all about the NHS should vote Labour, or Libdem if Labour does not stand a chance in your constituency.

Anything to stop the Tories destroying what's left of the NHS.

durhamjen there will be no NHS whatsoever if JC forces small businesses to close their doors and forces larger manufacturers out of the country, who on earth would fund it then?
