Did anybody feel sorry for her yesterday? Or embarrassed? Or, like me, annoyed that she was so ill prepared and frankly incompetent.
She "misspoke" apparently. hmm
She only had one job to do.
And before anybody says the poor dear had to give eleventy billion seven interviews -she is a professional politician it's what she does.
What compounded it was her tone of voice -like a primary teacher talking to a very stupid child, trying not to lose her patience but clearly just about to. Especially as she was talking such nonsense.
With talent such as Yvette Cooper, Chuka Umunna, Michael Dughan and others (even Ed Balls!) to call on why does the Labour campaign wheel on choose someone like Diane Abbott to score an own goal?

Here is a great challenge for anyone thinking of voting Tory. All you have to do is pick five of these fifty things from the Tory track record in government and explicitly defend them. ://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/the-tory-challenge.html

I don't like Diane Abbot and hate the way she speaks but her "misspeaking" interview looked as though she was having some sort of mental bloc and I felt sorry for her.

Is anyone really surprised. She has been a seriously, pretty awful performer ever since she appeared on the political scene, guaranteed to speak a lot of rubbish. If we wondered in the past why she remained there the answer must be the support from Corbyn and the left but even they must have had doubts.

During an election campaign the media delight in putting politicians on the spot with awkward questions. For example I seem to remember an interviewer asking Cameron "what is the cost of a pint of milk? Or a loaf of bread?" I would struggle with the maths, if in the middle of an interview, as who buys milk in pints any more?
I feel a bit sorry for Diane Abbott (though why no crib sheet handy?)

Anniebach Thu 04-May-17 11:32:33

Cameron hadn't made an announcement about milk, Abbott was doing the rounds to inform the country of the latest announcement to win votes, this means three questions will be asked, 1. How many more police. 2. The costs of taking on extra police. 3. Where is the money coming from,

She can`t be sacked as that would be rasism. _):

Luckylegs9 Thu 04-May-17 11:46:09

Unbelievable that she gets paid for her total incompetence. She makes the most horrendous mistakes and blames the interviewer, she doesn't practise what she preaches, ie. Private education etc. She is laughing all the way to the bank, who would employ her? It woud be laughable if it wasn't so serious, can you imagine her and Corbyn, meeting world leaders, apart from Trump of course, now that would be interesting.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 13:03:16

Silly comment, handmade. She is up for being sacked now, along with all the other MPs from the last election.

GranVee Thu 04-May-17 13:08:44

Trisher I absolutely agree with you. Funny how everyone is jumping on this. She made a mistake and yes she should have just said it will be in the party manifesto instead of digging herself into a hole. She made a mistake get over it. Look at strong and stable Teresa May. Never answers a question and surrounds herself with party activists. Refuses to meet Joe Public and stage manages her "visits" out in the community. I despair sometimes I really do.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 04-May-17 13:09:29

I believe it's the tradition on the run-up to any election that a Labour politician shoots themselves in the foot.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 13:09:42

Who would employ her? She has over £30,000 in her register of interests since the last election, so someone must.

rosesarered Thu 04-May-17 13:44:07

Haha lovebeige you're right there, wasn't it eating a bacon sarnie for Ed Miliband? grin that and tripping up after his tv interview with Joe Public.

rosesarered Thu 04-May-17 13:44:48

However the Abbott debacle was far worse!

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:46:05

Surely one of the worst politicians ever! Prejudiced, hypocritical and stupid beyond doubt belief....like the labour party!

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:47:14

The conservatives are the ONLY credible party. Wake up and see what a bunch of idiots they are.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 13:48:33

How is she prejudiced, Ruth?
I'm prejudiced - against Ukip and Tories. That's quite normal in politics.

I think you are showing your prejudice there, too.

sarahellenwhitney Thu 04-May-17 13:48:46

Diane Abbot is not the sharpest knife in the box. Her party is now at the lowest it has been for many a year. She needs to keep it zipped before they sink even lower.

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 13:49:26

Errmmm! I don't think anybody else in the world sees Boris as a very credible Foreign Secretary, but TM appointed him.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 13:49:52

"The conservatives are the ONLY credible party. Wake up and see what a bunch of idiots they are."

Well said, Ruth. The Conservatives ARE a bunch of idiots.

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:50:17

Hypocritical December Abbott....another champagne socialist...we couldn't afford to send our children to private school but respect the rights of those who can to do so.....Diane Abbot is against private schools for all of us....ONLY FOR HER SON! Makes me sick! If your not up to the job dear LEAVE

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 13:50:37

I seem to have wandered into a primary school playground, judging by the childish name calling.

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:51:21

No....as a typical labour voter (I presume) you just said and saw what you wanted.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 13:52:02

Only repeating what Ruth said, daphne.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 13:52:42

Did she mean you, daphne?

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:52:57

Did you not see her say black mothers make better mothers than white mothers. Total hypocrit useless baggage
