Did anybody feel sorry for her yesterday? Or embarrassed? Or, like me, annoyed that she was so ill prepared and frankly incompetent.
She "misspoke" apparently. hmm
She only had one job to do.
And before anybody says the poor dear had to give eleventy billion seven interviews -she is a professional politician it's what she does.
What compounded it was her tone of voice -like a primary teacher talking to a very stupid child, trying not to lose her patience but clearly just about to. Especially as she was talking such nonsense.
With talent such as Yvette Cooper, Chuka Umunna, Michael Dughan and others (even Ed Balls!) to call on why does the Labour campaign wheel on choose someone like Diane Abbott to score an own goal?

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 13:53:25

I know. I didn't mean you dj.

Lololol. I'm no Labour voter. grin grin grin

ninny Thu 04-May-17 13:53:38

She's received more than £110,000 of License payers fees for appearing on the BBC, that'll help pay her sons private school fees. She's the biggest hypocrite going.

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:54:31

Absolutely!

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 13:54:54

That's not what she said Ruth. Tut tut! Fake news on GN! Whatever next?!

Ruth1958 Thu 04-May-17 13:55:35

So good to see people are aware of her 'socialist' money making appearances.

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 13:55:51

Don't watch her ninny, then the BBC won't want to pay her. It's a free market.

sunseeker Thu 04-May-17 14:07:57

I am not a fan of Diane Abbott, but doesn't every politician, of all parties, get paid for appearing on TV discussion programmes? My criticism would be towards those who pay these fees, I am sure most politicians would appear for free if it gets their faces and policies in front of an audience.

I agree with most of the posters here...the woman is totally incompetent. She strikes me as just wanting the "glamour" of being in the public eye. I have never once heard her say anything of any use. God help us if she ever became Home secretary!!

Caro1954 Thu 04-May-17 15:25:02

Well said, W11girl!

marionk Thu 04-May-17 15:46:22

She has s a joke!

chattykathy Thu 04-May-17 15:57:16

I have to say the woman does get on my nerves but let's face it she got ONE word wrong!! The previous day Theresa May said she was going to fight tourism (meant terrorism) and forgot which town she was in. Not too much on here or the BBC about that! I thought Jeremy Corbyn dealt with it very well and showed what a nice man he is. Some are very quick to mock

MawBroon Thu 04-May-17 16:01:38

No, she had several goes at the answers each more ridiculous than the last, then denied saying one figure and accused her interviewer.
Poor show by any standards.

sunseeker Thu 04-May-17 16:04:06

She didn't get one word wrong - she got the figure wrong several times, even after rustling through her notes, then tried to blame the interviewer and even at the end didn't have the correct figure.

I accept that everyone, including politicians, get brain freeze but she came across as completely unprepared and considering she is a professional politician there to convince the public her party were competent to run the country, it was a complete failure.

MawBroon Thu 04-May-17 16:04:39

When London, Stonehenge, Stratford , Edinburgh castle and our other "sights" are clogged with tourists, sightseeing buses, coach parties, and all the rest of it., maybe "fighting tourism " might be no bad thing! grin

sunseeker Thu 04-May-17 16:04:53

crossed posts MawBroon

Ana Thu 04-May-17 16:06:14

ONE WORD my a*rse! grin

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 16:16:10

She got 62% of the vote in her last election, and she has won awards for her speeches.
Amber Rudd was last spotted electioneering for Zac Goldsmith. Now there's one we really need back in, instead of a Libdem, I don't think.

Ana Thu 04-May-17 16:23:34

Who cares whether she's won awards for her speeches.

This one was absolute rubbish!

rosesarered Thu 04-May-17 16:26:29

I imagine it's all over the internet, so even people who don't watch political programmes will see it, this is a major blow to Labour by a Labour own goal!

ninny Thu 04-May-17 16:44:42

She got £500 for taking part in The Selfridges Beauty Projectconfused

Anniebach Thu 04-May-17 16:54:14

she should stick to speeches and give up interviews

paddyann Thu 04-May-17 17:12:54

MAWBROON so you think tourism is bad for us? Well after Brexit it might be all thats left so lets hang onto the tourists and not fight them please

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 17:28:17

Paddyann, that was May's misspeaking - or I hope it was.
Did you not see it?

Anniebach Thu 04-May-17 17:33:15

May got one word wrong, Abbott cocked up an entire interview , not just any old interview, she was explaining Corbyns latest promise!

Come to think of it, perhaps she was repeating his explanation to her

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 17:34:36

Preventing, not fighting. At least if you are fighting it, you let them in the country first, and take a bit of money off the tourists.
