A Labour Government.

I am seriously getting worried, that that joke Corbyn might end up running he country, which will within months, put a new social policy in place to be paid for by the ones that work, and on their knees knees already, borrowing money, left right and centre, so that llike every labour government in history leave us in massive debts that will increase until, once again the country votes conservative to sort it all out. I probably won't be here it see that happen. I notuce the frugal life style Blair had, an example to all labour voters. He and his very rich family did very well out of it, pity the country didn't, particularly those youngsters sent to Iraq.

Theresa May has to work out her figures before she can find them.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-May-17 20:14:40

Yes norose, that's my point which is why it was not my 6 year old mind that prompted me to post that picture. It would be wonderful if any leader could deliver what's been outlined in the Labour manifesto but it's an impossible dream. Like the 'Child catcher' offering sweeties.

No tuition fees, free child care for all so I ask again where's the money coming from?

No decent fair minded person could disagree with 'some' of what Corbyn proposes: but, ( taking my dislike of Corbyn, Abbott and Thornbury out of the argument) I can't trust or imagine them managing the economy or trust them on security.

Now candy man song is going around inmy head Smileless ?

Are you really going to vote for more of this to happen?

daphnedill Tue 30-May-17 20:24:46

Smileless I'll repeat...go and get a book on macro-economics from the library. A country which issues its own currency is not like a household.

The magic thing about creating jobs is that nobody pays.

durhamjen Tue 30-May-17 20:25:18

Or this?

I don't need to read the dummies guide to macro economics which includes post Keynesiam durhamjen as I studied these when I did my degree.

Keynes is well known for proposing that if a national economy suffers a downturn, the gov. should borrow and spend money in order to boost economic activity. That said, I for one don't see how spending money on eradicating tuition fees is going to boost the economy. Nor do I see how giving free child care to all, regardless of their income is going to boost the economy.

Please don't seek to insult my intelligence by implying that I need to read a dummies guide to anything. I may not agree with your political point of view, but I'm not a dummy.

norose4 Tue 30-May-17 20:27:25

Yes that's the big worry isn't it Petra , this time around there is only one real option isn't there , there is too much going on for the country at the moment to have the added burden of all the unrealistic promises of Corbyn being fulfilled without massive borrowing .

durhamjen Tue 30-May-17 20:29:16

Er - I didn't ask you to, Smileless.
Apology, please.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-May-17 20:29:36

My apologies durhamjen my last post should have been directed to daphnedill

durhamjen Tue 30-May-17 20:30:19

Somehow, I think you are on a hiding to nothing, daphne. All the Tory voters think they know it all.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-May-17 20:32:37

What makes you think I'm a Tory voter durhamjen? If I vote Tory it will be the first time in my life that I've ever done so.

durhamjen Tue 30-May-17 20:35:10

Does that get you even more worried, daphne?

trisher Tue 30-May-17 20:38:14

Smileless2012 I reply to posts in the same manner in which they are made. So if you post silly comments and silly pictures don't expect a reasoned debate in return.
I suppose you would have been saying much the same things when the NHS and the Welfare state were conceived at a time when Britain was in a much worse state financially than it is now. You benefitted from all of those policies and I really object to you denying my GCs the same level of support because you have fallen for a lot of right wing hype about how poor we are and how much better the Tories manage the economy. The trouble is by the time you wake up to what the Tories really want to do- shrink the state, cut taxes, make the rich richer and let the poor and weak sink or rely on charity- it will be too late and the sort of society we grew up in will be lost forever.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-May-17 20:38:17

What's wrong durhamjen? If you're not prepared to respond directly to a fellow poster who has the decency to respond directly to you, why are you taking part in this discussion?

Oh, and I'm pleased that you so gracefully accepted my apology.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-May-17 20:52:09

How do you know which policies I may or may not have benefited from trisher? You know nothing about me and you're not the only one who has GC. You may think my posts and pictures are silly but that's just your opinion. You're entitled to yours and I'm entitled to mine. Personally I don't find it necessary to be offensive to some one just because they have a different point of view.

I haven't fallen for any propaganda, have you? I don't need a wake up call, do you?

You say you respond to posts in the same manner in which they are made; I think not.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 30-May-17 20:54:49

Is Smileless a returnee folks, please? This is beginning to seem very familiar.

norose4 Tue 30-May-17 20:57:42

Isn't everyone a returnee?

Ana Tue 30-May-17 20:58:56

Don't be ridculous GG2, Smileless has been on GN for years.

rosesarered Tue 30-May-17 21:00:17

Good posts Smileless
A week to go and feelings are running high, this does not mean resorting to personal remarks or insults though.

Smileless2012 Tue 30-May-17 21:01:21

If you have a question for me GracesGran why not ask me directly? How would anyone but me know if I'm a returnee?

Elegran Tue 30-May-17 21:02:09

If it was so easy to please everyone and bask in the approval of the voters, the Tories would have done it before now.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 30-May-17 21:02:42

I'm not sure why the question was ridiculous. I don't mean to be rude but I haven't noticed her on the politics threads. That is not ridiculous it's just one of those things you don't like - a fact.

UKIP Smileless?

POGS Tue 30-May-17 21:02:45

GG MK 2

Going on the concept of 'You say it , you own it' who do you think Smileless reminds you of?
