I am seriously getting worried, that that joke Corbyn might end up running he country, which will within months, put a new social policy in place to be paid for by the ones that work, and on their knees knees already, borrowing money, left right and centre, so that llike every labour government in history leave us in massive debts that will increase until, once again the country votes conservative to sort it all out. I probably won't be here it see that happen. I notuce the frugal life style Blair had, an example to all labour voters. He and his very rich family did very well out of it, pity the country didn't, particularly those youngsters sent to Iraq.

I have read anniebach.s and I hAve never never read anything which is remotely socialaist.

I don't actually care very much, because she only has one vote and it would appear doesn't have much influence over her local party. Get over it annie modern politicians don't care about troglodytes. Your anti-Corbyn smear campaign didn't work out - work on!

Jacob Rees-Mogg, eh, Tegan?

Tegan2 Sat 03-Jun-17 23:49:05

Ah, Jacob; a member of the Tim Nice But Dim school of politics methinks....

GracesGranMK2 Sun 04-Jun-17 06:58:05

He sounds like that Tegan but sadly I think his politics are far from nice and I doubt he is that dim.

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 08:59:29

He said he would take his business away from that tattoo parlour.
What tattoo do you think he and his son have?

Tegan2 Sun 04-Jun-17 12:08:33

Well, he is a Trump supporter; didn't he say any Republican president is better than a Democrat one [or words to the effect]. Perhaps a tattoo of The Donald somewhere...

whitewave Sun 04-Jun-17 12:11:11

I wonder if he a climate change denier as well? I suppose there are still some "flat earthers" in parliament

rosesarered Sun 04-Jun-17 12:14:26

Nothing dim about Rees Mogg, and he is well liked by both Labour and Conservative MP's I have read, he is also unfailingly courteous to all.

Iam64 Sun 04-Jun-17 12:47:34

Jess Phillips, one of my favourite Labour MPs speaks positively about working with Reece Mogs. She doesn't agree with his political views but says he is a good work colleague and a likeable individual. (My paraphrase ). imagine that, people with differing political beliefs respecting and even liking each other

Jacob Rees Mogg agrees with trump that the Paris agreement is worthless.

I hope you are all as pleased as I am about this.

whitewave Sun 04-Jun-17 20:35:48

annie id be surprised if Mogg read anything else grin

Ginny42 Sun 04-Jun-17 23:11:42

Rees-Mogg's read a lot of things, like a poem from his coffee mug whilst filibustering in the House of Commons, wasting Commons time to block a green farming Bill.

Rees Mogg read history at Oxford

I've recently failed to be at all impressed by Oxford having read only yesterday that Toby Young (of failed Free School fame) got into Oxford on the strength of B's at A level, an administrative error and a phone call by his very famous father..

And however nice and charming Rees Mogg might be he still holds repellent Tory views...

Iam64 Mon 05-Jun-17 07:58:24

Yes, I find everything about him repellent. I like and admire Jess Phillips. I worked with a number of privately educated Oxbridge barristers, like Jess I found good constructive work relationships were probable despite the difference in our life experience and political views. My comment was an attempt to point out that it's possible to find common ground when working together. It's rare to find that on a gransnet politely thread which more like PMQs polarises

GracesGranMK2 Mon 05-Jun-17 09:24:37

I still believe the Tories will win but I was surprised to see a poll in our local paper for our local constituency (not mine - as is the way of thing I am on the edge of an area miles away).

This is Conservative but has been Lib-Dem in the past so we all thought Lib-Dem was the best bet to keep May out but this is the poll.

Labour – 67%
Conservative – 20%
Liberal Democrat -10%
Independent – 3%

Quite likely to be wrong I feel but it does make you wonder what to do if you are in that area. Oh for PR so that you could vote for what you want and not against what you don't want.

whitewave Mon 05-Jun-17 09:47:51

Rees Mogg hold repellent far right views. He aligns with people like Trump. -Trump for heavens sake!!!!

whitewave Mon 05-Jun-17 12:58:58

I've just received a letter from that nice Richard Wilson.

He is urging me to vote Labour on Thursday smile

Tegan2 Mon 05-Jun-17 12:59:56

Yes; I never held any particular view about him until I heard his remarks about Trump. I'm sure he's a witty, charming man but, if people say they worry about Jeremy Corbyn [who, imo is becoming more statesmanlike by the day and is someone I feel sure European leaders will be quite happy to work with]representing us on a world stage, do we honestly want people like Rees Mogg, Slimy Gove and Boris Johnson doing so? Is it any wonder that the people being used in the Tory election campaign are mainly Amber Rudd, May and Karen Bradley [and Karen Bradley is now digging herself into a few holes].

yggdrasil Mon 05-Jun-17 13:47:10

It just goes to show what happens when you let Jeremy talk without changing his words and smearing him.

"Is it any wonder that the people being used in the Tory election campaign are mainly Amber Rudd, May and Karen Bradley"

And Amber Rudd has now been seen censoring an independent candidate's speech at a hustings, when he tried to talk about Saudi Arabia

whitewave Mon 05-Jun-17 13:54:52

The Tories are actively suppressing information about SA.

trisher Mon 05-Jun-17 14:28:42

Well they would wouldn't they! to paraphrase Mandi Rice Davies
