I am seriously getting worried, that that joke Corbyn might end up running he country, which will within months, put a new social policy in place to be paid for by the ones that work, and on their knees knees already, borrowing money, left right and centre, so that llike every labour government in history leave us in massive debts that will increase until, once again the country votes conservative to sort it all out. I probably won't be here it see that happen. I notuce the frugal life style Blair had, an example to all labour voters. He and his very rich family did very well out of it, pity the country didn't, particularly those youngsters sent to Iraq.

Isn't there now a tax on insurance policies which I've only just heard about [on the subject of hidden taxes, that is...].It was mentioned when I renewed my car insurance.

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 20:24:25

tegan its called insurance premium tax it is going up soon I think not sure of the rate but something like 10 and 20%. It's been around for some time.

Tegan2 Sat 03-Jun-17 20:31:08

Yes; I can't make sense of it. Seems it's to fund flood defences.[I think...]

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 20:33:17

Yes. I suppose that's right. Bet it just goes into the sinking fund

Looks like the Lib Dems may do really badly this time.
May has run a poor campaign but I think the Conservatives will still win, with what majority it's hard to say, polls have been wrong before.

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 21:08:46

One poll shows Tory on 40 Labour on 39%

Another shows Labour will win, but only if the young turn out.

I am refusing to believe it.

rosesarered Sat 03-Jun-17 21:09:46

Very wise.

Ana Sat 03-Jun-17 21:10:20

As you keep saying, but refusing to say where you've got that information...sigh.

rosesarered Sat 03-Jun-17 21:15:46

I haven't seen any polls with a gap of 1% they vary between 5 and 12.One poll a few days ago had 3% but seems to have come up since then.

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 21:18:51

Perhaps it was found on voxpox blog Roses,

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 21:28:43

Yougov. Tories on course to lose overall majority.

Faisal Islam, - put Corbyn on 72% of viewers thought he won the debate.

Ana Sat 03-Jun-17 21:32:06

'Tories on course to lose overall majority' doesn't mean Labour's going to win.

rosesarered Sat 03-Jun-17 21:34:09

Viewers thinking that somebody has won a debate means little where actual voting intentions are concerned.Even the polls themselves.

durhamjen Sat 03-Jun-17 22:28:58

The Tory magic money tree.

It was possibly the Survation poll:

CON: 40% (-6) LAB: 39% (+5) LDEM: 8% (-) UKIP: 5% (+2)

However these polls turn into reality (and I still think the Conservatives will win), it's going to be evident that the Conservatives don't have the "popular vote". It's unlikely that they will achieve a majority of the popular vote, which means that the majority is unhappy about how the country is run.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 03-Jun-17 22:43:41

Something nasty has happened in Londonsad Major incident.

daphnedill Sat 03-Jun-17 22:46:52

Just reading about it.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 03-Jun-17 22:47:54

They don't seem to know exactly what has happened but they are moving people away very quickly.

daphnedill Sat 03-Jun-17 22:52:42

The Survation poll assumes that he 18-35 will turn out as predicted.

If they don't it will be a victory for the old codgers.

durhamjen Sat 03-Jun-17 22:59:09

A poll I read said that 63% of young voters have confirmed they are certain to vote.
Of those, 68% will vote Labour. That was ICM, I think.

NotTooOld Sat 03-Jun-17 23:00:49

Incident is on London Bridge. A van travelling at approx 50 mph has been driven into pedestrians.

daphnedill Sat 03-Jun-17 23:06:18

Whatever has happened, let's hope that none of the
political parties use it to score points.

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 23:09:22

Fat chance!
