As the article says, we all like a trier and none are more trying than Diane Abbott.

Kensington is very mixed. I lived in Earls Court at one time. Both EC and North Kensington are quite run down. It's a relatively new constituency after boundary changes. Nevertheless, it had healthy Conservative majorities in 2010 and 2015.

I don't know what you are reading or listening to SAAK but I got the impression that it is all about May at the moment.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 10-Jun-17 14:48:16

It's all coming out now about despicable Corbyn isn't it.

whitewave Sat 10-Jun-17 11:39:06

Nearly the whole of London was remain and now Labour

I would have thought that living in an area would give you some idea of the demographics of that area and that Kensington and Chelsea is probably one of the more polarised areas of the country. Not everyone who lives there is affluent and the borough could have a fairly high poverty rate.

suzied Sat 10-Jun-17 05:48:48

Many of the affluent in K and C are foreign buyers who don't live there/ can't vote. Not all EU workers - many from non EU - Russians, Chinese , Arab states etc. What difference would Brexit make to that situation? T May did nothing about non EU migrants. There is huge inequality in K and C . Corbyns attack on austerity rang a bell with many who previously hadn't bothered to vote.

There's a large, long established French community in Kensington with French schools, shops etc. Those that were eligible to vote probably voted Remain last year and Labour this week.

Tegan2 Sat 10-Jun-17 00:24:35

Was he the one stood outside Downing Street talking about 'in the nations interest' and acting as if nothing had happened? Now THAT'S delusional...

Eloethan Fri 09-Jun-17 23:56:29

Very incisive analysis.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:42:33

Whist we touched on peoples "minds" corbyn has a feck on a delusional one.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:38:29

So you would truly believe that a predominately tory area which has been so for years can suddenly see through Corbyns weird eyes and vote labour. That is "twilight zone" stuff.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:33:19

Not sure what you mean by peoples "minds" it certainly allows me to use my eyes to see what goes on though.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:31:38

Unfortunately a lot of labour voters were swayed by "quick" unattainable fixes and wolves in sheeps clothing (tacticals) voted labour for their own gains knowing none of what corbyn stated in his manifesto would ever come about.

I however voted for what I believe in which was a hard Brexit, May would have had to carry this out and the rest would have followed.

Eloethan Fri 09-Jun-17 23:31:31

So living in a place gives you access to the minds of all its inhabitants does it saak?

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:21:46

There's a tiny part of me wanting to challenge these so called "labour" voters, let's just let Corbyn in, not enter into Brexit at all, then call another election, in say 3 years, bet the map would turn back to blue in such affluent areas smile

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:10:58

*were (before the school teachers start) smile

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 23:10:17

A very high percentage of votes in Kensington was "tactical" remain voting, knowing the place and people as I do due to actually living here for the past 30 odd years.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 22:43:16

Delusional or "tactical" comes to mind.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 22:40:44

As for UKIP I totally agreed with their policies under Ferrage.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 22:40:01

Why not be my guest in the Borough of Kensington, far cheaper and you will really see what goes on.

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 22:38:15

I'll crowd fund a one way ticket for you.

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 22:37:29

Good grief! I can't believe anybody is still peddling UKIP propaganda. By the way, I've heard there's a vacancy as leader for anybody who's played for Tranmere. hmm grin

saak Get over it! There are some nice alt-right conspiracy sites I'm sure you'd really love.

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 22:37:14

Ive also got a video on how great it is to go to North Korea smile)))

stillaliveandkicking Fri 09-Jun-17 22:35:05

video? I live it smile

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 22:34:24

John Harris' video about the two Kensingtons is worth watching:

(Apart from saak, who knows everything about everything already.)
