Are you watching tonight's tv debate?

There is the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron, leader of the Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the Greens, Caroline Lucas, leader of Plaid Cymru, Leanne Wood, deputy leader of SNP, Angus Robertson, leader of UKIP, Paul Nuttall and someone called Amber Rudd, who seems to be standing in for the leader of the Tories.

What do you make of it?

whitewave Thu 01-Jun-17 11:30:23

But you see annie the point is he DID take part.

Maybot chickened out and had the nerve send Rudd!! My god with friends like that.......

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 11:32:17

Did anyone else notice Leanne Wood saying a few times that Welsh Labour had voted with the Tories every time Plaid tried to get a socialist policy through?

whitewave Thu 01-Jun-17 11:33:56

No- is that true?

paddyann Thu 01-Jun-17 11:47:04

so did our ONE labour MP ,well lets face it the labour party might as well have as abstaining is tantamount to the same thing

paddyann Thu 01-Jun-17 11:52:50

Niglynellie Nicola Sturgeon is not the leader of the Westminster Parliamentary party ...Angus Roberton,Deputy leader of the party IS ,thats why HE was there Thats HIS job Nicola is in charge of Holyrood and is leader of the party

paddyann Thu 01-Jun-17 11:56:32

Nigglynellie THIS is a Westminster election ,nota Scottish one,not that you'd know that by the fact that when Nicola IS on debates ALL the questions are about devolved matters ...thats all 17% of matters that ARE devolved !!

Tegan2 Thu 01-Jun-17 11:57:32

Tim Farron eloquently set out his vision for a kind, caring, just society last night. If that brands him as an idiot it just shows that people on opposite sides of the political divide see things in a totally different way; I know what side I'm on....

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 11:58:13

Armando Iannucci has said that so far the only person May has debated with on TV is her husband.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 11:59:47

Holyrood is still sitting, isn't it, paddyann?
I keep getting emails about their debates on the NHS.

Lazigirl Thu 01-Jun-17 12:00:12

And that was about taking out bins wasn't it?

Tegan2 Thu 01-Jun-17 12:00:13

Yes; I'm confused by some of the things Leanne Wood said. I think, of everyone, she seemed to most nervous. I've always had a lot of respect for her, but she didn't come across well. Caroline Lucas, on the other hand, was superb. I was also impressed with Angus Robertson who, I must admit I knew nothing of till last night. He reminded me of Charles Kennedy.

Lazigirl Thu 01-Jun-17 12:01:38

I'm in love with Angus Robertson. May move to bonny Scotland.

Tegan2 Thu 01-Jun-17 12:03:29

It's the accent, isn't it!wink...

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 12:08:36

Another laugh? Or is it true?

Angus Robertson is always good on PMQs.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 12:24:40

From Comres, about how the audience was chosen last night.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 12:28:39

Actually, reading all that makes you realise how difficult it is to get an audience for a debate like this.
Respect for Comres.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 13:17:04

I like Barry Gardiner's take on the debate.

Anniebach Thu 01-Jun-17 13:42:32

Niggly is correct, Angus Ribertson is the deputy leader of SNP, I
Sturgeon could have been there just as Leanne Wood leader of Plaid Cymru but not a Westmindter MP was there

Anniebach Thu 01-Jun-17 13:48:41

Leanne dud nit say labour had voted with the Tories, she said labour had voted against Plaid . You have such little knowledge of Welsh politics, Plaid is fighting labour for seats , they took Rhondda from Labour at the Assembly elections last year.

She also said Welsh Labour had air brushed Corbyn out of this campaign

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 13:50:03

Angus RObertson is the leader of the SNP in the commons.
He always asks questions on PMQs.
Nicola Sturgeon is in Holyrood, doing her dayjob at the moment, just as she should be. First Minister's Questions.

Since the skwawkbox is just a left wing blog, it will no doubt say how marvellous Gardiner is or will contain silly jokes or equally silly pictures of T May or Boris.

durhamjen Thu 01-Jun-17 13:56:14

You following me around again, roses?

skwawkbox.org/2017/06/01/skwawkbox-in-the-news-literally/

Skwawkbox has been mentioned in the Financial Times, the Economist, the Times, the Telegraph.
Not that I expect you to notice it, roses, but that's quite good for a leftwing blog.

Anniebach Thu 01-Jun-17 14:03:28

Leanne Wood is a member of the Welsh Assembly, has nothing to do with Westminster, she is leader of Plaid Cymru

Anniebach Thu 01-Jun-17 14:05:41

Skwakbox? Who claimed Corbyn the IRA supporter was involved with the NI peace process but he wasn't
