My prediction( not hope) is for TM to have about a 40/50 overall majority. I reserve the right to change this prediction up to the announcement of the exit poll. Anybody else have a prediction?

Anniebach Sun 04-Jun-17 09:06:13

Will he demote Abbott?

varian Sun 04-Jun-17 10:33:55

Just to be clear. A lot of ignorant people read the rightwing tabloids (DM, DE, S etc) but it does not follow that everyone who reads these papers is regarded as ignorant.

I have never suggested that, nor would I. Simple logic. Lots of ignorant people will vote in a certain way, but that does not mean that all others who vote in that way are ignorant.

What is true is that newspaper readership strongly influences voting intention. I predict that some rightwing papers will use the latest appalling terror attack as a reason to vote for the TM party as they will be credited with being "the party of law and order" in spite of the massive cuts to the police while TM was home secretary.

Anniebach Sun 04-Jun-17 10:44:04

Is a Home Secretary responsible for cut backs in the police ?

mcem Sun 04-Jun-17 11:04:27

Impressed by Emily T this morning with Marr and Peston.
I'd dump Diane A in favour of her.

Anniebach Sun 04-Jun-17 11:19:48

And have Abbott as foreign secretary? Surely not

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 11:39:04

I agree with you, mcem. She wasn't going to be browbeaten by Peston, either.

mcem Sun 04-Jun-17 13:31:14

Annie I neither said nor implied that.

Anniebach Sun 04-Jun-17 13:37:59

I know you didn't mcem, just if Thorbury became Home Secretary where would Abbott move to

rosesarered Sun 04-Jun-17 13:41:03

Out of politics hopefully grin

Ana Sun 04-Jun-17 13:42:37

She could be deputy Leader - she'd like that. Give Corbn the chance to sack Watson.

mcem Sun 04-Jun-17 13:51:35

Rate occasion but I wholeheartedly agree with roses .

mcem Sun 04-Jun-17 13:52:23

Rare not rate!

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 13:53:37

Corbyn cannot sack Watson or give Abbott the position of deputy leader.
Both leader and deputy are voted on by the membership.

rosesarered Sun 04-Jun-17 13:53:52

grin ah well, you had to at some point mcem and I shall try and reciprocate someday.

mcem Sun 04-Jun-17 14:00:06

?

Anniebach Sun 04-Jun-17 14:02:56

So where could she be moved to? Agriculture ? She did have that naked romp in a field with Corbyn grin

kittylester Sun 04-Jun-17 16:52:26

TMI!!

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 20:40:49

TM and Corbyn?
Were you watching The Last Leg on Friday?

rosesarered Sun 04-Jun-17 20:46:26

TMI ...too much information, not T May grin

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 21:57:00

May's fault. She said that he would be alone and naked in the Brexit talks.
You really should watch the last few minutes of the Last Leg from Friday on catchup.

Tegan2 Sun 04-Jun-17 22:16:45

It was a really unpleasant comment that she made, albeit being a quote from a Labour politician....

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 22:20:41

I bet she wishes she hadn't now. Has she sacked Lynton Crosby?

Luckygirl Sun 04-Jun-17 22:21:34

I am with Anna - we have to raise the hope that integrity and honesty might prevail or at least have the opportunity to clip the wings of rampant conservatism and austerity.

There has to be some principles that are greater than just profit.

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 22:37:03

Do you mean Anya?

ninny Mon 05-Jun-17 07:58:45

Is that the Emily Thornberry who looks down on the hard working white van man flying the Union Jack. She's a snob and hypocrite, just like the Labour leader Corbyn who opposed shoot to kill but now is apparently for it so he can get a few more votes.
