Luciana Berger who is chair of the Jewish Labour Movement was re-elected in Liverpool with a majority of nearly 33,000
Momentum activists took nine of ten positions in the LP, one new official has said Berger is now answerable to us!
I thought an MP was answerable to her constituency
Oh dear annie i think that is called flights of fancy
ww .....you can take it as a yes as a no or any way you like.I expect I know as much as most people know about them without actually being part of their group.
They are doing a ruthless job of promoting Corbyn, flattening out any opposition and generally making his way smooth and doing any dirty work that he doesn't need to know about. He may of course, know quite a bit of what they are doing, but is allowed to rise above it and pretend not to know.Anyone who isn't wholly behind Corbyn and McDonnell will be harrassed and eventually got rid of by deselection.
Of course, all Corbyn fans will probably not mind a bit. They should!
No Whitewave, it is fact,
Rees Mogg is fair game in my opinion when he can afford to have 6 children has a grant of some kind to fix his family mansion and then still votes for a pay cap on public sector workers [just saying...].
All politicians are fair game Tegan for their policies, utterances, etc but it's beyond silly and petty to say, ooh, look his children have funny names etc.
So what? Lots of people give their offspring strange names ( Geldof for one.)
Oh, just to redress the balance, however, I am concerned about momentum and all this talk of deselection. The S.O. tells me that Nottingham MP Chris Leslie is in danger of being deselected and he is an incredibly good constituency MP. However, I don't really understand the ins and outs of it all but am even more concerned about the awful things that this Conservative government has done/is doing to this country.
And presumably taking your Nanny canvessing is fair game
I really find some of the posts on here laughable. Is it because this is the first time in generations we have a party that is interested in peace not war, that when other parties (and posters on GN) demonise parts of our society this party and its leader urge the end of discrimination and want to treat everyone with respect. Please don't tell me that is not what they are saying because it is what I and many others are hearing.
The idea that we would be anything like the old USSR or North Korea (that is what a one party state looks like) is risible - very. I don't think anyone can seriously suggest that is what the Labour Party is aspiring to - nor could they achieve it if they were. They are part of a diverse party in a capitalist, democratic country. It seems to be democracy you are fearing and the removal of the growing plutocracy.
Nothing that has come out of the LP is further to the left than the social democracy of the Nordic countries and Scandinavian countries would call it middle of the road. These are counties with some of the highest living standards in the world and do many things better that we do - why is that so bad? Why do you not want it for all people in this country?
All I can hear from the screams of the right on here is people who have voted for parties who have increased in-work poverty, increased homelessness, increased insecurity and are now worried that a party will come along and take some of their toys away to create the fairness they don't believe anyone, that doesn't see the world as selfishly as they do, deserves.
They are doing a ruthless job of promoting Corbyn, flattening out any opposition and generally making his way smooth and doing any dirty work that he doesn't need to know about.
Do you have any idea how the conservative work behind the scenes RAR?
'Screams'? Ha, ha!
Well, I think that Rees Mogg pretty much sums up all that stinks about the Conservative party.
Excellent postsgg
Good one liner ana not quite up to your usual standard, but well done for trying
tegan too right
Tegan2. The story about Jacob Rees-Mogg and his 'family mansion' was fake news. the house concerned is Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire, the largest stately home in England, I believe. It was bought recently by a specially formed Preservation Trust, a charity, who were awarded this money to help restore the house . JRM's only connection with it is that is the ancestral home of his MiL and she is involved with the trust.

Nowadays you need always to carefully fact check news items before you disseminate them.
Oh dear whitewave, what a poor put-down attempt...
And your posts haven't been up to your usual standard either ww. Far too much patronising and silly childish comments about the names of babies. A little light on actual facts, which you're always so adamant is what the News and Politics threads are for.
You may be interested but not surprised to know tegan that Mogg recently gave a speech to Traditional Great Britain. A fascist group with Tory ideas about the countryside.
His present abode is the 57 bedroom Gournay Court.
Well he's doing his level best to fill them
ana it wasnt a put down
it was faint praise
Wouldn't surprise me if it was sold in a tax evasion sort of way. But can anyone defend him for not wanting public sector employees to have a decent pay rise? Which is more important.
He has always been up himself. He had himself painted during his last year at Eton. Its just of him in a junior outfit. Not sure if this means that he was so mediocre that he didnt acquire a single colour or he prefered rather strangely for an 18 year old to be painted as a first year.
Extraordinarily weird
As with Boris Johnson, I used to feel amused that we had such colourful characters in British politics. But when I see people like that in power and turning this country into a place that I don't recognise I don't find it amusing any more. The pair of them are great on HIGNFY, but shouldn't be running the country.
'He joined former Ukip leader and Brexit orchestrator Nigel Farage in indicating his support for Mr Trump ahead of November’s US presidential election.'this from a BBC4 interview with Rees Mogg. This is when I first really started to detest him....
Yes has always been a strong supporter of Farage as leader of ukip, and or course Trump.
He reminds me of the sort of interwar upper class sort that supported the Nazis.
Im sure he wouldnt be quite so stupid as that though.
'Now I turn to this place. This building is intimidating. It reeks of the establishment and of power. Its systems are confusing, some may say archaic, and it was built at a time when my class and my sex would have been denied a place within it because we are deemed unworthy.'
Rees-Mogg fits in well.
