Should MP be sacked for using " n "word

Tory MP Anne-Marie Morris used the phrase "N . In the woodpile" when giving a speech in a meeting in the House of Commons. There are calls for her to be sacked. This is a phrase that even my parents wouldn't have used. I am surprised anyone under 60 knows it. Does she use this phrase at home? She should be severely reprimanded IMHO. Sacked if it happens again .

There is also another extremely unpleasant racist joke made by a Tory MP recently.

One wonders what else is said and not in the public arena

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 16:56:12

I remember the same word being used in some Tory election pamphlets years ago. I suspect nothing has really changed amongst a certain element

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:11:36

Absolutely unacceptable - sacking would make her a martyr of the right. If she were an employee of mine, I'd send her on a course about acceptable language use and then make her write a reflective piece to be published in MSM and socisl media explaining why what she said was unacceptable and put her on a final written warning.

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:12:50

But she's not an employee of course so what should the party do?

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 17:14:41

I suppose she can be de-selected?

BlueBelle Mon 10-Jul-17 17:14:41

Absolutely , unacceptable she has to go immediately

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 17:18:47

What about the one who told that dreadful.joke on FB?

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:19:27

Oh yes right like the average Tory constituency party would deselect for that?

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:20:00

Which MP was that re 'joke'?

NfkDumpling Mon 10-Jul-17 17:20:04

If it was a speech it must have been preprepared so she should at least grovel and crawl on her stomach the length of the Commons in abject apology. Silly, silly person. What was she thinking? No one, but no one uses the N word - unless a person of colour.

NfkDumpling Mon 10-Jul-17 17:23:10

What does her being a Tory have to do with it? It would be equally deplorable if any other party MP had said it. Or are you saying that only a Conservative would possibly do such a thing?

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:25:28

She's apologised -bless! Nothing will be done I'll bet! R4 is saying whip will be removed - let's see. Totally cynical that it's really being taken seriously

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 17:26:47

Well she was suspended. Name of Rosemary Caroll - Mayor ( not mp)

The post shared by her compared Asian benefit claimants to dogs.

Which are " brown , stinks and never worked a day in his life"

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:26:47

Well she is a Tory so it's a relevant fact.

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:28:09

And yes, people who are right wing are more likely to not appreciate the importance of language and people who are right wing are more likely to be Tory.Ergo....

NfkDumpling Mon 10-Jul-17 17:30:24

Why? Being an MP is relevant. The implication is that only Tories would say such things. I have labour friends and certainly they're no better.

Rigby46 Mon 10-Jul-17 17:37:42

Well I have friends across all parties and none of them would use that word ever. I'm not saying only a Tory MP would use that word but that a Tory is more likely to use that word - right wing people are not, as a group, so sensitive about the use of language. Note I'm not saying all but talking about tendencies.

NfkDumpling Mon 10-Jul-17 17:50:17

Perhaps. I'm not so sure. I've always found bigotry pops up in many guises across society. But this, as you say, is purely careless inconsiderate talk. She should have known better. And as you said before, she needs to go on a course.

kittylester Mon 10-Jul-17 18:12:23

Here we go again.

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 18:16:53

I m for one minute sufgesting that this should run and run in fact it is so distastfull i hope it doesnt.

But it wasnt long ago that Labour was accused of anti-semitism and the shock, horror and end of the world stuff emanating from the Tories on here was major stuff.

Ana Mon 10-Jul-17 18:18:17

So were the vehement denials from the Labourites on here!

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 18:22:03

Are you denying they said what they said ana?

Ana Mon 10-Jul-17 18:23:15

Who?

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 18:24:50

No i didnt think you would
