Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

Do you know what neo-liberal economics are Primrose? It's being discussed in almost every newspaper (and has been for quite some while) and political TV broadcast as has the fact that this is being seen as the reason for the crisis of the legitimacy of capitalism. When Corbyn quoted those words, he was quoting from a series of articles in the Financial Times.

Try those and if you haven't got anywhere check back and I'll find you some links although I am sure some have already been put on here.

Just watching a clip from May on Marr this morning and she is saying that the privatising moves they have made to University fees aren't working because the universities haven't behaved as they intended. Doesn't she yet realise that this is exactly what unfettered capitalism does?

Primrose65 Sun 01-Oct-17 23:24:47

I know what neoliberal economics are gg!
I do not know what the neoliberal economic trap means in your post.
Any idea which articles in the FT? That was actually the first place I searched and it's not bringing back a single result.

MaizieD Mon 02-Oct-17 00:02:57

I suspect that you might need to be searching on the 'neoliberal trap' Primrose, rather than the neolib economic trap. you get lots of interesting results then. And of course, neoliberalism is closely associated with economics.

About the universities, GracesGran, which university is going to say I'm not as good as the rest, so I'll charge less?
It was a non-starter.

durhamjen Mon 02-Oct-17 09:54:35

I also can't believe the Tories believe these lies.

durhamjen Mon 02-Oct-17 09:55:54

World class public services, anyone?
I feel sorry for the rest of the world if the Tories think they are the same level.

durhamjen Mon 02-Oct-17 09:57:14

Fairness for working people?
Fighting injustices?
Causing them, more likely.

Rees-Mogg showing what an idiot he is again, with regard to the Irish border.

"Rees-Mogg’s solution, offered on the fringes of the governing Conservative Party’s conference in Manchester on Sunday, was simple: Do nothing.

“We won’t have to,” he told a ConservativeHome event. “I don’t care if a few hundredweight of beef is smuggled across the Irish border. It will make no odds to the British economy. We have no obligation to put any border up. Full stop. Challenge the EU to do it. I just don’t believe that they will, and I don’t believe that the Irish will agree to them doing it.”

Rees-Mogg is popular with Tory party members and topped a recent poll of possible successors to May. The self-consciously old-fashioned lawmaker, who speaks Latin and has a large social-media following, represents the most enthusiastic supporters of Brexit, who are pressing May to avoid compromises during the split."

Doesn't he realise that it is the Brits who want a border, not the EU. Brexiteers like him want control of our borders. That's what they thought they were backing him to organise.

50,000 at the People's Assembly yesterday.
This is what they are doing today.

Whitewave, you mentioned Catalan. I have been watching videos, and I am not sure they were all police.
Why would riot police attack firefighters?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:19:47

Watching spreadsheet Phil is really, really hard work.

Primrose65 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:26:53

Any links for me gg on "the neoliberal economic trap"?
Other posters seem to think it's just neolib economics, but I'd like to understand what the trap is.

Primrose65 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:29:00

Links to the FT articles would be fab - it was the first place I searched and I couldn't find any.

whitewave Mon 02-Oct-17 17:41:30

I seem to remember primrose your advice to me when asking for information is to google it, perhaps you should follow your own advice, there is plenty on it if you look.

I found neo- liberal trap the first time of looking.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:43:28

I am told that spoon feeding the student does not help them learn Primrose. Have you done anything to find out for yourself? As that was my phrase you will not just be able to google it but will have to work out why neo-liberal economics might be a trap.

FT articles will probably pop up if you google something like "crisis of the legitimacy of capitalism Financial Times"

Primrose65 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:43:57

Well done, but that's not what I'm struggling to find.

whitewave Mon 02-Oct-17 17:44:36

gg wow I found it on google!!!!!??

GracesGranMK2 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:46:17

There was me thinking I was the first to use it! When I was very young I thought I had invented the word sabbatical - this feels almost as sad grin

GracesGranMK2 Mon 02-Oct-17 17:47:36

I have a feeling that this is a case of 'if you can't get them to say what you want just distract them' Now who used to do that all the time?

Primrose65 Mon 02-Oct-17 18:20:50

You're right.

Me saying straight up that I cannot find anyone who uses the term means I'm in need of a google lecture.

Then it's "As that was my phrase you will not just be able to google it".

This is what happens when people regurgitate stuff they've heard to try and sound clever. They end up tying themselves in knots.

Thanks for the clarity.

durhamjen Mon 02-Oct-17 18:33:52

Come on, primrose, you're not trying. Someone as intelligent as you shouldn't need to be spoonfed.

durhamjen Mon 02-Oct-17 19:52:19

Simon Wren-Lewis calls it overreach, GracesGran.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 02-Oct-17 21:40:04

Goodness Primrose, all those educated people regurgitating things they have read and heard (from people who know) and then thought about themselves. The world will obviously come to an end because you don't think it's right.

The only person who is tying themselves in knots (because of lack of knowledge) is you it seems so please don't try and attack others who have tried to help you when you asked.

Durhamjen said "Whitewave, you mentioned Catalan. I have been watching videos, and I am not sure they were all police.
Why would riot police attack firefighters?"

The riot police were from Madrid, sent by the Spanish Government. They attacked a lot of people, the firemen, ordinary people trying to vote, even the local Catalan police.
I'd like to say it couldn't happen in the UK, but I remember Orgreave :-(
