Thank you for responding. I have done a 'cursory' search during today but I cannot find anything, whether it be before or after work, that says as you do:-

If you find anything I will be interested , rather on the thread than a PM I don't like those much. I thought perhaps living in France there was a possibility your point had been made over there but at no time have I heard it mentioned here.

It is not a thing that the UK Govt has broadcast because I suppose people would ask why it has not been implemented.. I am very surprised you haven't seen this point as it has often been quoted even before the vote - but of course I do rend to see a lot of info on ex- pat groups - both UK citizens and those from the EU.

Now seeking a temporary CU whilst being able to pursue other trade negotiations good luck with that!!!

You notice he was totally unprepared to discuss cash, as it is so contentious, but he is going to have to get that sorted first, and the longer they dither, the less time they will have to sort out all the complications.

He's up for leadership so isn't prepared to be responsible for making the financial settlement decision bring down Tory anger onto his head, he'd rather leave that for patsy May.

And I am still trying to understand the benefits of Brexit.

They are now saying they want a deal as near to the Single Market as possible, with the benefits of the Customs Union.
It is clear immigration is not a problem, or wasn't until the nurses care-workers teachers etc started leaving. After all, we have full employment, apparently.
Nobody has yet told me what sovereignity is supposed to mean, and we haven't heard much about that recently anyway.

ygg I think too that business is already getting fed up and beginning to invest elsewhere. This will become a haemorrhage if decisions aren't soon made, but listening tobDavis this morning I wouldn't hold my breath.

The Tories associated with business will soon begin to agitate.

I await with interest the papers due to be produced next week by the government to see if any discernible sense is becoming more clear. I fear that I will be disappointed.

The Europeans cannot understand this Brexit - we were talking yesterday with a mixed bag of people - French. German, Polish, American, Irish and non could see any benefit at all. They were too polite to actually say to me they thought the Brits barking mad but the obviously do!

I think that the whole world thinks we are mad.

It is amazing to me how a relatively small minority of vocal individuals with money and access to the media can cause such chaos and division.

It is very worrying - corruption gone mad really. Makes you wonder how far it will go and how the next generations will get on. It is hard enough for them now to realise their goals.

I've just returned from a Fred Olsen Cruise, most of my fellow passengers were in our age group. I did not mention Brexit except in response to already started conversations much but everyone who expressed a view was pro remain. I have yet to hear a convincing reason for voting leave.

David Davies does seem to be getting a little softer. Unfortunately much of the damage has already been done so even if Brexit were to be stopped we would still be worse off than if the wretched business had never been started.

Please can some Brexiteers give me and others of my camp at least one good reason to change my mind.

For me Vince Cable says it how it is though his choice of words may sometimes be too vitriolic. I just hope that parliament stands up to the bully Brexiteers against the "will of the people" formed by many lies and some prejudice. If that means a second referendum then so be it; then lets hope for a better informed public and fewer lies from the politicians.

You'll be lucky cinders I did ask a while back but in all honesty I don't think anyone can think of a single reason to leave.

The new paper announced by the U.K. Government seems to suggest that it is possible to be in and out of the customs union at the same time. Moreover, that an "invisible border" between Ireland and Northern Ireland is feasible. I fear this is all mere fantasy. In any case these discussions will be part of the second phase of the negotiations. First, we need to deal with the issues currently on the table: the rights of the citizens and the financial settlement.

I simply don't understand why this government isn't tackling the negotiations head on.
They know that they have to progress the Irish Border, the immigrant issues and the divorce settlement, before anything else can be tackled. Why not just get on with it?

Where are those papers?? Instead, next week we have fantasy papers about a * temporary customs union* -- dear of dear.

t's hard to know where to start with the customs union position paper. It is such a mess, such a full-spectrum catastrophe of ineptitude and wishful thinking, that it's honestly quite difficult to choose which bits of it to single out for criticism.

There is a Blogger surname North can't remember his Christian name, but he is a long time leaver, and he is incensed with the government. He thinks the whole think is a catastrophic cock up.

Davis has been caught telling little porkies.

On R4 this morning he said how his department spent the past year consulting with business over the CU etc.

Now they are saying that they would welcome comments/discussion from and with business over the CU.

to be fair I don't think anyone believes that the past year was spent very productively -not really sure what they were doing to be honest - so I think his remarks this morning were taken with a pinch of salt.
