What happens when a family is evicted (presumably from a privately rented home or do councils evict people too in the circumstances we're talking about?) because they can't pay the rent? Are kids and their parents left to rot in the gutter?

Capitalism, for instance. I think I'm beginning to have some understanding of it after a lifetime of not really and wondering what all the fuss (for and against) was about.

I very seriously think that it would be really interesting if you were to start a thread about capitalism, Baggs so that we could all really think about it and explore the topic. We've done threads on Populism and Socialism in the past, haven't we?

Many capitalists at the moment don't even pay their taxes.

Homeless families may not rot in gutters but they rot in one room in bed and breakfast accommodation with shared washing/toilet facilities and very little access to cooking facilities.

ilove you are being too kind - when the story hit the headlines he very robustly defended he investment decision because it was best for the investors. I can imagine he didn't know before that but really you'd think a jolly clever chap like him might think to find out what his company's funds are invested in wouldn't you. Especially with his being such a moral, principalled decentbtype. I'm sure he's done it to further his political ambitions
