This as the Labour Party conference , a momentum fringe meeting.

Corbyn attended Momentum fringe invites but turned down Friends of Israel invite.

Very Donald Trump isn't it?

Anniebach Fri 17-Nov-17 13:23:31

The head of Momentum, John Lansman failed to get support from his constituency Labour Party ,Bermondsey and Old Southwark CLP have backed three independent candidates who are running a rival campaign to Momentum, two of the selected candidates are Corbynsceptics

By elections results, labour held two , tories held three ,Libs held one

That's interesting Annie, I had missed that - thanks for sharing.

Anniebach Fri 17-Nov-17 15:55:19

And Corbyn had arranged extra seats on the NEC to accommodate them

Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard

The election of Richard Leonard as Scottish Labour leader this morning is a huge milestone for the party both in Scotland and UK-wide. The election of a left-wing, pro-Corbyn Scottish leader with his own radical agenda signals what Labour insiders have called a 'total reset' for the Scottish party - and cements the pro-Corbyn majority on Labour's UK National Executive Committee (NEC).

Also said Many labour voters not well please, I am not alone in saying the Labour Party is being killed off and we will have a communist party in its place. They will not be honest and say they are communists though, rather Venezuela, Corbyns dream.

paddyann Sat 18-Nov-17 17:33:38

Richard Leonard seen as a bit of a joke,he wont revive the Scottish branch office of Labour .He'll be like the last few leaders a year or so in the job and then ousted. At least they didn't vote for Sarwar ..so maybe some have sense! I see Kezia is off to join I'm a Celebrity....should she have a job to come back to? Isn't an MP or MSP suppoesed to be around for their constituents.I remember Phillipa Whiteford SNP ,being slated for working during her holidays ..SHE was operating on cancer patients...yet I'll bet the fallout for Kezia isn't half as bad rules for one and different rules for the rest!1

Anniebach Sat 18-Nov-17 19:21:30

43%.didn't vote for Leonard

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 09:51:47

John McDonnell, Arthur Daley of Westminster

Being asked a question several times and refusing to give an answer - "you are asking the wrong question "

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 10:22:28

And McDonnell wants a united Ireland , get out the guns time is looming again and this time quite possibly with the full support of a far left government

Primrose65 Sun 19-Nov-17 12:59:34

John McDonnell, Arthur Daley of Westminster
grin grin grin
With the Arthur Daley golden handshake guarantee, the world is my lobster.

humptydumpty Sun 19-Nov-17 13:03:39

Primrose65 Sun 19-Nov-17 13:59:47

In a vote which saw a 62.3% turnout, Mr Leonard won a 56.7% share, with Mr Sarwar on 43.3%.

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 14:06:09

Do you .Jen, like McDonald support a united Ireland ? not forgetting he has not remained neutral on this but supported the IRA with Corbyn?

durhamjen Sun 19-Nov-17 22:25:05

I have no idea who you mean by McDonald.

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 22:29:50

I think you do, the shadow chancellor, got it now ? Do you support a united Ireland?

paddyann Sun 19-Nov-17 22:33:56

I support a United Ireland, the UK had no right to hold onto the six counties .The country should be one .I also support an independent Scotland ,a country that has its own Law and education system ,its own church and language .We are NOT a region of England and neither is NI .

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 22:44:11

And the people of NI who want to remain in the U.K.?

Scotland voted - no

durhamjen Sun 19-Nov-17 22:46:35

Shadow chancellor is NOT called McDonald.
Got it now?

Anniebach Sun 19-Nov-17 22:48:46

Do you support a united ireland Jen just as the shadow chancellor does? Not forgetting he supported the IRA

Primrose65 Thu 23-Nov-17 07:48:06

Classic John McDonnell on Radio 4 this morning
"Apple was started with a government grant"
When you borrow more "It will pay for itself. Every infrastructure project immediately pays for itself"
"I wouldn't plan for no deal (on Brexit)"
gringringrin
It actually felt sorry for him for a while. Until I remembered how Ken Livingstone sacked him from the GLC for fiscal incompetence.

Anniebach Thu 23-Nov-17 08:42:23

Bless him, preparing his excuses for the mess he will get this county into with the billions he will borrow.

Interesting article in the FT today - people are selling their businesses because they are worried about Corbyn. "Entrepreneurs and their advisers said fears that Jeremy Corbyn could take power in a Labour government ......... were among the reasons for the sales"

And from the Observer
"Leftwing pressure group Momentum is asking Labour parliamentary contenders to sign a contract that ties them to the “political objectives” set out in the organisation’s constitution to secure its support in upcoming selection battles"
"One Labour MP, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “It reflects a Stalinist approach to politics that Momentum would come up with such a contract for candidates. It has worrying implications for our democracy that there could be MPs in parliament who have signed away their right to independent judgment,” he said."

I'd just read a summary of the Observer article Primrose. It made my blood run cold. We need our MP's to have independent judgement. To be excluded from the LP as a possible candidate if you don't sign up to the kind of contract described does seem Stalinist. I'd feel the same if any other political party tried to stifle free speech and debate.
