Dear Gransnetters
I am making a sincere request for any ideas and policies you think might help me and my government cling on to power keep the country on a strong and stable path. We are willing to consider anything. Sajid has already launched a housing idea, Michael is busy searching through Jeremy's bins for cast offs and Boris has promised to keep his nose out of things is focussing on foreign policy. But I am sure some of you have really good ideas. Don't worry about u-turns I am willing to swivel 360% and more if it will keep me in power is in the country's interests. So please send them to me. Desperately Seeking Solutions Theresa @No.10

I notice you have given West Midlands an extra £250 million from a fund where all the other cities have to bid for the funding from £1.7 billion.
It couldn't be because the mayor, Andy Street, is a Tory, could it? And a Tory donor?

Naughty Theresa.
Is that what you meant by transparent government?

durhamjen Mon 20-Nov-17 18:55:05

Here's a good policy for you, Theresa.
END AUSTERITY NOW.

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2017/11/20/the-chancellor-must-end-austerity-now-it-is-punishing-an-entire-generation/

I double dare you.

FarNorth Mon 20-Nov-17 19:59:46

Oh, really, dj, you're so impractical. Theresa doesn't want policies like that. They'd be bad for rich people the economy.

durhamjen Mon 20-Nov-17 20:10:20

Sorry, FarNorth. I was just thinking of something that might give her a bit of kudos and therefore some leeway in Brexit negotiations.
She definitely looks as though she needs some help there, don't you think?

FarNorth Mon 20-Nov-17 20:18:12

Poor Theresa. I think all hope of credibility for the UK in Brexit negotiations has totally vanished as our soon-to-be-ex fellow Europeans gaze at our government with astonishment and bewilderment.

durhamjen Mon 20-Nov-17 23:18:12

Here's an even better one for you, Theresa.
Tax the rich. Apparently they don't move, they pay!
Shocking, isn't it?

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2017/11/20/if-you-tax-the-rich-they-dont-move-they-just-pay/

(I hope you have gone to bed, FarNorth, it might be too much for your sensibilities.)

durhamjen Mon 20-Nov-17 23:35:15

Keep Philip away from driverless cars would be another good policy. In fact, you should have thought about it before he mentioned going in one.

"But aides apparently wary of photographs which could be used as metaphors for a ‘driverless’ Government just days before Wednesday’s Budget have insisted Mr Hammond will not be allowed to use one of the vehicles.”

Too late! "

trisher Tue 21-Nov-17 10:04:29

That's so weired dj I asked Philip about trying out a driverless car and he just mumbled something about it "being too close to real life" and "going round in circles" before I could ask any more he rushed off saying he had to balance the numbers.. Have you noticed Boris has gone very quiet, but rumours that he has been tied up and gagged are entirely untrue, he is simply being more circumspect (OMG you don't suppose he's plotting something do you?)

FarNorth Tue 21-Nov-17 19:16:44

Yes.
He's always plotting something.

durhamjen Tue 21-Nov-17 22:42:00

Continuation of the Ralf Little/Jeremy Hunt spat/discussion about NHS statistics.

twitter.com/FullFact

I do hope, Theresa, that you have managed to ask Hunt to correct his statistics.
Of course, like the rest of your cabinet, he probably chooses to ignore you.
How do you do it, choose such complete Hunts for your cabinet?

durhamjen Tue 21-Nov-17 23:07:26

What happened, Theresa, to that bloody difficult woman?

durhamjen Wed 22-Nov-17 08:58:42

Did you enjoy your Christmas present yesterday, Theresa?
I think you can share it with your hard up chancellor.

Sorry it's on RT, but I never saw it on any UK newsfeed.

trisher Wed 22-Nov-17 15:11:31

I thought it was Waitrose delivering!! I have a new phrase, "absolute poverty" You will be pleased to know the numbers living in absolute poverty have fallen. So now I will no longer discuss poverty only absolute poverty I'm not sure why the numbers have fallen starvation, hypothermia, no healthcare but they have.

FarNorth Wed 22-Nov-17 15:22:36

Reclassification of what absolute poverty actually means?

durhamjen Wed 22-Nov-17 18:19:34

Rather childish of Philip today, to give the NHS an extra £350 million to cover the whole of the winter season.
Was that his idea, or yours?

durhamjen Wed 22-Nov-17 18:27:13

Is this really how it went last night when you were discussing it?

twitter.com/UKLabour/status/933247447429627904

FarNorth Wed 22-Nov-17 18:28:28

That seems like a rather clever move. Now you can say "We did give £350 million to the NHS, as promised."
And, once again, lots of people will believe it!
Good old Phil.

durhamjen Wed 22-Nov-17 18:50:29

He would have done even better if he'd given £350 million to the Metro, instead of £335 million.
Showing a lack of imagination there.

Theresa could we please have a policy of restoring at least a bit of pride or self respect in our country (not empire or anything like that).
We seem to have lost our status of a reliable, honest, wise and stable country. Boris makes us a figure of fun in world affairs, Brexit just causes incredulity in Europe and beyond, we've lost out to India on The International Court of Judges, may well lose our G7 position as we have sunk from top of G7 to bottom in growth in just four years!
Can you do something to improve our international status please?

trisher Thu 23-Nov-17 11:01:46

I'm so glad you raised this mostly I am working on our International Status. I have had extensive discussions with my hubby and his pals and have had an idea for gaining financial investment by creating tax haven offering inducements. This would make us really popular internationally -at least with the super rich--.
I'm also getting rid of all the workers for the EU in London the EMA and the EBA have already gone. But don't worry there will be lots of new jobs in coffee shops on zero hours contracts

mostlyharmless Thu 23-Nov-17 11:04:57

Oh yes coffee shops. Our only growth industry!

If you want to work on our international status, Theresa, you really need to get rid of the fox.

durhamjen Sat 25-Nov-17 14:22:46

Theresa, can we please have a policy of sticking to your policies? Otherwise, just don't promise things you are not prepared to deliver, particularly for people in the North.

"Theresa May has delivered a slap in the face to the people of Manchester, showing once again that she is running a country that works only for the rich – and not for everyone as her lying propaganda claims.

After the Manchester Arena Bombing last May, she promised the city, “Whatever you need, it’s there.” Now she has gone back on that promise. It was a lie.

The total cost of the bombing to the public, for police, health and council services, came to £17 million but, in a letter to Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, Mrs May has offered to pay only £12 million.

She has told Mr Burnham that this is “reasonable”. The people of Manchester are likely to take a different view.

Mrs May’s decision shows her contempt for the city – especially when we consider the huge amounts of cash she has pulled from her Magic Money Tree for other purposes, while still claiming there is no money available for the rest of us."

FarNorth Sat 25-Nov-17 19:39:56

Oh dear, Theresa.
When you came on here, I hoped you were starting to be interested in what the Great British Public thinks but, looking at that report about Manchester, it seems not.

trisher Sun 26-Nov-17 11:32:51

When I came on here I expected to get lots of support (someone told me that GN was mostly the demographic that voted for us at the last election). I must say you have surprised me. You are far more confrontational than I expected. You also seem to know what is going on (sometimes far more than the cabinet). dj Did I say that about Manchester? Well guess what- I changed my mind!!!!
