The trouble with a 'bumpy couple of years' is that it's way too long for those already in poverty to get poorer, those likely to be losing their jobs as companies pull out of the UK, those facing longer delays for medical care, and children being educated with teacher shortages in under-funded schools. These groups can't wait long for some bonanza. What are the predictions for them?

I don't know if this has been mentioned but the S.O. says that someone from the NHS was on tv saying how much more medicine that was being imported from other countries is costing the NHS because of the fall in the rate of the pound.

Dr Clare Gerada campaigned for the LibDems at the last election. She has warned of the dire consequenses of brexit for the NHS. She is the sort of expert Gove told us all to ignore.

Hang on; as a Dr doesn't she fall into the category of 'expert' and therefore has to be ignored .

Report in today's paper that ~150,000 tweets from Russia were a deliberate attempt to sow discord during Brexit campaign.

I don't think we needed any help on Brexit discord either then or now, thanks all the same, Russia.

Dominic Grieve had the best line yesterday , saying Brexit is an

"extraordinarily painful process of national self-mutilation."

Not 150,000 tweets, Baggs, 150,000 accounts. All tweeting and retweeting in favour of voting Leave. The actual number of tweets they generated could potentially be in the millions. These accounts don't represent 150,000 real people (all having a completely strange Russian obessession with the pressing need for the UK to leave the EU ); they are multiple accounts run by a few people.

Apologies for my mistake. I don't think the alleged Russian tweeting made an iota of difference.

It's not 'alleged', it's real. The accounts have been traced to their source.

It's 'possible' that they made no difference, but the Russians thought it a valuable enough exercise to repeat it for the US presidential election.

At the very least the tweets would have confirmed to Leavers that they were part of a huge community and sown misinformation about the way the UK constitution works. Ignorance of our constitution is rife; from tweets I've seen it appears that many people think that because lots of people repeat the same misinformation it is actually 'true'. Which it isn't.

Of course, I know that the Leavers on here weren't influenced by anything but what their 'research' had thrown up. Though I'm not sure how they could be positive that their sources of information were accurate and unbiased.

I wonder if we’ve had a Russian poster on GN? Looking at examples of some tweets from Russia shows some almost identical experience to some of the posts on here.

Pre-referendum there was a huge amount of activity posted by “new” people, who disappeared post-referendum.

Anna Soubry has contacted the police after receiving five threats against her she says in the Commons just now. She blames the Telegraph front page naming the Tory Brexit rebels.
There is a still lot of Brexit hatred out there. She is entitled to her view. Terrible when MPs can't speak out freely in Parliament.

The reason I doubt the Russian tweets would have made any difference is because, apart from a few mavericks (Gove, Boris, Dyson, etc), the entire "Establishment" was (and is) pro-Remain.

I'd be interested in some trustworthy figures about the kind of people who use Twitter. Again, I doubt if the old and uneducated, who are supposed to have swung the Brexit vote, are keen Twitter users. Generally speaking, of course.

They didn't dare put Ken Clarke centre stage in that picture, did they. That paper will have blood on it's hands if anything happens to any of those people. I'm sure I've read that Anna has had death threats from her [pro brexit]constituents in the past.
