Why hasn't she been sacked already? She goes in holiday, holds 10 meetings with a range of senior figures, including BN without telling the FO and even worse, suggesting that BJ knew about it in advance. Downing Street says she has been reminded ' of the obligations which exist under the ministerial code ' -oh you mean doing what you want in foreign countries and then lying about it?

Day6 Fri 10-Nov-17 17:53:18

The Evening Standard is a completely biased rag now Osborne runs it.

He is attacking the government at every opportunity.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 17:54:05

Bloody hell, Day6, you are getting more and more ridiculous and pathetic. She was on holiday, for god's sake, visiting her parents, taking their granddaughter to meet them!
She works for a charity.
Your last post was quite sickening. Do you have no feelings for anyone?
I have a new grandson, ten weeks old. His other grandparents haven't seen him yet as they live in Spain. His granddad is ill. I feel sorry enough for them, let alone the Zagharis.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 18:17:59

Another personal attack on anybody you don’t like/ don’t agree with durhamjen are you incapable of posting without doing this?
You know nothing about this case but are acting as if you have personal knowledge.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 18:19:31

We all feel sorry for her and her family but can’t act / speak as if we know exactly, all the ins and outs of the case.

jura2 Fri 10-Nov-17 18:23:54

Wow Lemon- what do YOU know about this case, pray tell. We are all ears.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 18:26:08

Wooden spoon again jura2 or flame thrower?

I don’t know a thing about the truth of the case and neither do you or anybody else on GN.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 18:36:17

No, but I have been following it for over a year, so possibly know more about it than, you, lemon.

Have you watched Richard Ratcliffe's video?

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 18:38:17

My grandson watched the video today and had tears in his eyes at the end.
He signed the petition of his own accord. Good to have a grandson who cares about somebody else.

This is interesting.
Patel has history.

Caroline Lucas left a few things of her list..

Someone earlier was trying to suggest that Boris's gaffe about 'teaching journalists' might have been due to his briefing. I just can't seeing a professional Foreign Office civil servant briefing him so badly. I can only think that if it were mentioned in his briefing it would have been with the instruction not to breathe a word of it in public.

An instruction promptly forgotten by old blabbermouth...

MaizieD Fri 10-Nov-17 22:32:03

Sorry... meant ".. off her list."

GracesGranMK2 Fri 10-Nov-17 23:01:03

I did think Boris's "apology" was made with weasel words. He would blame anyone, even the poor women herself rather than admit he should be cautious in what he says and he wasn't. What a nasty piece of walking egotism he is.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 23:16:52

Over 1,036,000 agree with Richard Ratcliffe that she is innocent and have signed his petition to call on May to get her free.
He is on Newsnight, talking to someone who was in the same prison as his wife.
Of course, lemon and Day6 know differently. They appear to be the only ones who do.

Morgana Sat 11-Nov-17 01:06:20

I am truly shocked that people seem to think it okay to post things which might be construed as indicating that there was some valid reason why this woman was imprisoned in the first place. Please. Think!

maryeliza54 Sat 11-Nov-17 08:00:37

Jal the reason I mentioned the RN connection was she herself said that the ‘cock speech’ was as a result of losing a bet with RN officer friends,

lemon I used the word ‘smutty’ and in inverted commas as it was exactly the right out of date word to describe the out of date humour she was demonstrating. Sorry the subtlety of that escaped you. I think what she did reflects very badly on her and shows a contempt for Parliament which is not in any way shape or form acceptable. Let’s hope she might be a bit more grown up now but if you look at BJ’s continuing ‘attempts’ at humour you can see why I thought they get on well. You can imagine them giggling and passing notes in Cabinet and TM saying ‘bring that note to me NOW’.

And lemon you must be the only person on the planet that thinks Penny M being an ardent Brexiteer isn’t the main reason she got the job. Alistair Burt was the obvious choice on merit

Jalima1108 Sat 11-Nov-17 09:39:12

Yes, I remember; however, what happens in the mess/wardroom should stay in the mess/wardroom.

durhamjen Sat 11-Nov-17 10:10:22

But it didn't stay there. Mordaunt herself brought it into parliament.

maryeliza54 Sat 11-Nov-17 15:31:18

And she didn’t have the judgement to leave it there did she? Oh silly me, expecting a cabinet minister to have judgement - wonder if she’ll be allowed to do her RNVR training whilst she’s in office? Probably not a good idea, who knows what forfeits she might bring back with her.

lemongrove Sat 11-Nov-17 15:39:11

Nothing wrong with a bit of Naval humour, in fact, a bit more humour all round might be a good idea sometimes.wink

Jalima1108 Sat 11-Nov-17 16:21:30

instead of all the navel-gazing
wink

Nobody wants ministers to spend time in an ashram Jalima1108 - but they do need to be functioning adults. There are a lot of rules (some of them archaic it's true) that apply in the House. They are required to bow to the Speaker when they enter the chamber and to refrain from insulting other members, for instance. There is a serious underlying reason for this - it's the most important room in the country and should be respected at all times, just like our courts are.
This prank is more the sort of thing you'd expect from someone who has not got over adolescence and wants to be accepted by "the lads".

Jalima1108 Sat 11-Nov-17 17:34:24

Oh fgoodness'sake
