Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??

thanks Merlot - yes 50% of newstime and ignoring the big issues re Brexit did seem somewhat disproportionate to many ;)

NanaandGrampy Wed 29-Nov-17 17:54:13

Well let’s be honest Maryeliza you’re only here to vent your spleen about pretty much everything so maybe we should wonder why you’re continuing to post about people you dislike, a system you decry etc etc

We heard you the first time grin

durhamjen Wed 29-Nov-17 18:04:29

Not enough people agree with her, though, so she just has to continue to persuade.

NanaandGrampy Wed 29-Nov-17 18:06:22

grin @ Durhamjen

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:06:52

Oh don’t be so pathetic Nana childish and unpleasant. I’ve got every right to criticise what I want - I don’t think you understand what a forum is for - it’s perfectly legitimate to post about systems I decry or are we only allowed to post about things we like? And FYI I post about a whole range of other things as well but you don’t want to admit that do you because kicking me is a GN sport amongst some of you.

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:07:23

Well soop you can just go back to the kitchen and leave us to it.
shock

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:07:58

Durham was that about me?

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:09:48

And FYI I post about a whole range of other things as well but you don’t want to admit that do you because kicking me is a GN sport amongst some of you.

Perhaps someone can explain why it’s fine to come on a thread to say in effect that it’s boring and sending you to sleep? If I said that I’d be in for another good kicking. FWIW I think there are some incredibly boring threads on here - or to be more accurate- ones that don’t interest me at all but I don’t go on them and say that.

durhamjen Wed 29-Nov-17 18:12:39

Of course it was, Maryeliza. Why should you be told you vent your spleen on here?
Saying what you think is what Gransnet is all about.
Just because they don't agree with you there is no need to be nasty.
Don't we both just try and persuade others to change their minds?

durhamjen Wed 29-Nov-17 18:13:35

I meant there is no need for them to be nasty. I realise that could be misunderstood.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:13:46

Jal so you are saying that I deserve all I get on here and everyone who kicks me is justified in so doing - ooohhhh nice people. I don’t accuse individual posters of being mean, nasty, joyless , a misery and yesterdays pearl of course ‘a nasty piece of work’.

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:16:00

Just wondering about the reason why you feel you are being 'got at' and, if so, why

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:16:27

Thanks dj I was a bit surprised and thought I must have misunderstood. Which I had. I guess the general position is that those who can argue their point and those who can’t just dish out a kicking and personal insults.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:17:42

Jal stop being so disingenuous. As my mother would have said, you’re better than that

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:24:55

Yes, but why?
Why do you think you attract what you call 'a kicking'?
I don't think it would be for sport, Gransnetters are on the whole better than that, it must be because some of your posts may upset people, like the one telling soop to just go back to the kitchen and leave us to it after a post that was probably meant to be amusing - probably expressing her view very succinctly on the over-kill in the media which many of us are fed up with.

Baggs Wed 29-Nov-17 18:33:25

Controversy is healthy. Speaking against the trend is good brain exercise. Yous'll heard of devil's advocating.

Baggs Wed 29-Nov-17 18:34:13

Oh god! I'm in a right befuzzle about that apostrophe! Ahoy there, grammarians!

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:34:26

Yes, I am married to one

Baggs Wed 29-Nov-17 18:34:48

...of being a devil's advocate...

phew.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:35:23

So you are speaking for soop now Jal if that’s what she wanted to say she could have said it rather than post as she did which was capable of other interpretations? But anyway I love your defence for the way I’m treated- that I deserve it so it’s fine for other people to behave badly because I’m a ‘nasty piece of work’ ? Can’t you see the utter illogicality in that? Sounds like ‘she started it Miss’. Very adult. I do notice that some of the nastiest comments come from those who have least to contribute to the subject of a thread.

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:35:24

You's'll ?

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 18:40:19

Kate/Catherine/Dutchess of cambridges' accent has changed beyond recognition in only a few years though, not over a period of 20 years or more ( which perhaps you could expect) Apparently ( well according to Mr Google) she didn't speak posh enough so her step mother in law organised for her to have some lessons . grin now her accent is so false and so much plummier than her husband and granny in law. Hope they've got a good teacher ready for MM.
they'll have their work cut out .
I wonder how long it takes to become a British citizen ? A year, a month, a week, overnight ?

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:41:36

HM's voice has changed too - if you listen to her speech to the nation when she was Princess Elizabeth she sounds much less 'posh' now than she was then.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 18:42:40

Supposedly 3 years and we have been assured that there will be no shortcuts for her and she’ll be treated like everyone else?
