Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??

Baggs Wed 29-Nov-17 18:48:35

Yep, yous'll. Yous is plural of you, often used where I live.

Baggs Wed 29-Nov-17 18:50:44

And I use it on Gransnet to make it obvious that I'm talking to anyone and everyone so that individuals don't feel got at.

NanaandGrampy Wed 29-Nov-17 18:52:50

You’re right maryeliza you can criticise what you like AS can I !

I’ve seen some of your posts and there is a similarity between them all that is inarguable.

It’s funny how when you speak harshly of others it’s ok but if anyone does the same to you you’re getting ‘ a kicking’ .

I thought that was called lively debate grin

Yawn yawn yawn No ripostes made to this comment.

soop 17.36

Sigh................Yawn...........Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

maryeliza54
Well soop you can just go back to the kitchen and leave us to it.

Says it all really. And you wonder why you "get a kicking"?

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 19:02:24

I get the very personal comments as you well know - I never call people nasty pieces of work or mean or joyless but I’m getting sorely tempted . If you can’t see the difference between my style of posting and those of some others to me then I don’t think you are being fair.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 19:04:13

chewbacca I think you’ll find my comment was made in the context of a thread that I had been contributing to - quite a different scenario - but hey, don’t let the facts get in the way of a good criticism.

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 19:07:23

I see now it was in response to yet another goody comment from you - hence yawn

willsmadnan Wed 29-Nov-17 19:10:13

Well my dear maryliza, you could always 'bugger orf' from GN and save yourself a kicking as you put it. Pull up the drawbridge, and stay in your republican castle until the whole ghastly business is over. Or are you and A.N Other going to continue being voices in the wilderness a la John the Baptist?

Chewbacca Wed 29-Nov-17 19:12:46

I'm sorry Maryeliza, but I can't see any comparison to your style of posting to anyone else's, especially Soop's. As for personal comments; I think you've done a few yourself; for example, you told Jalima "Have you any idea how stupid your post sounds? It’s not even accurste. Pathetic" So you come across, to many of us, as being able to dish out the harsh comments, but you dont like taking them back and you complain that people gang up on you to "give you a kicking". You almost seem to invite it. I've no idea why, and I don't care enough about you to find out. Sorry.

Chewbacca Wed 29-Nov-17 19:15:20

Maryeliza I think you’ll find my comment was made in the context of a thread that I had been contributing to - quite a different scenario - but hey, don’t let the facts get in the way of a good criticism.
And I think you'll find that the comments I quoted were from this very thread. Did you not think that I'd check that before posting?

maryeliza54 Wed 29-Nov-17 19:18:13

No I didn’t I knew you would have done your homework

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 19:24:59

one could almost use the word snowflake

"Have you any idea how stupid your post sounds? It’s not even accurste. Pathetic"

grin Chewbacca I think I explained to maryeliza that I was not cursing her so perhaps it was rather a pathetic post

gillybob Wed 29-Nov-17 19:26:00

No special treatment for the royals then maryeliza grin

durhamjen Wed 29-Nov-17 19:48:12

Perhaps she'll be sent back home for not having the correct paperwork, if there's no special treatment for her.

Anniebach Wed 29-Nov-17 19:51:29

feeding the need

Jalima1108 Wed 29-Nov-17 23:05:21

yes 50% of newstime and ignoring the big issues re Brexit did seem somewhat disproportionate to many ;)
jura2 - that's the problem. As DH said in exasperation 'Is there any other news?'

Lovely, we're happy for them (well some of us are grin), as the Duchess of Cornwall said: ''^Sometimes, you know, in a climate where we are surrounded by a lot of bad news, it's a real joy to have a bit of good news for once.^'
''A glamorous new step-daughter-in-law, can't wait!!" (no, she didn't say the latter).

However, most of us hope that it doesn't dominate the news media for the next few months - or years.

durhamjen Thu 30-Nov-17 00:52:53

I am sure these men are really happy for them.

Oldwoman70 Thu 30-Nov-17 07:11:40

dj I spoke to a homeless person yesterday (yes I often stop to chat to them), he told me he was very happy about the engagement because it made (most) people feel good and when they feel good they give more.

NanKate Thu 30-Nov-17 07:57:04

I love your comment Willsmadnan I suppose from your name you couldn't be Her Maj (wobbly curtesy from me just in case).

Anyone coming to this thread by chance expecting joy, interest and excitement should first see the sign. ENTER AT YOUR PERIL.

MaizieD Thu 30-Nov-17 08:21:14

Enter at your peril? Quite right, NanKate

Joy? Why on earth should I feel joyful at the non-news (because it was absolutely expected) of the engagement of two youngish people I don't know?

Interest? None whatsoever.

Excitement? Ditto.

OTH this has been quite an amusing thread. Back to the playground again for many of you as usualhmm.

gillybob Thu 30-Nov-17 08:30:25

Yes I'm sure they're positively dancing in the street DJ .

I don't buy the clap trap that because people are feeling happy about a couple of overpriviledged people getting engaged they give more to the homeless either.

Oldwoman70 Thu 30-Nov-17 08:45:44

Sorry you think it is "claptrap" gillybob, I was merely repeating what I was told by a homeless person - this was the experience of him and his friends (but what would they know!)

merlotgran Thu 30-Nov-17 09:22:22

If the entire RF was whisked off to Planet Tharg in the middle of the night, we would still have homeless people.

Their empty houses and palaces would not provide instant affordable homes but would probably be swallowed up by Russian oligarchs or Chinese businessmen.

An awful lot of people would be without jobs though.

Greyduster Thu 30-Nov-17 09:33:59

Quite right, merlot - well said!

gillybob Thu 30-Nov-17 10:17:51

To be fair old woman70 (70 is not old btw smile) we only have one completely genuinely "homeless" person in our town. (by homeless I mean sleeping rough, outside ) and he doesn't know what day of the week it is never mind whether some multi millionaires got engaged.
