A continuation of www.gransnet.com/forums/news_and_politics/1241620-Corbyns-Momentum

Corbyns unknown peace prize was in the Mail today apparently. He joins a long list of people awarded peace prizes you've never heard of. Like the Confucius Peace Prize won by Mugabe.

durhamjen Sat 30-Dec-17 13:15:30

I'll have to stop feeding the need.

Anniebach Sat 30-Dec-17 13:22:36

I should have had copyright for that comment ?

varian Tue 02-Jan-18 19:12:41

Sir Keir Starmer does not seem to attract as much criticism as JC. That is an attribute in a politician.

Jalima1108 Tue 02-Jan-18 19:43:02

or does it mean he is boring?

durhamjen Tue 02-Jan-18 19:48:58

It means he hasn't been in parliament so long. I find his comments interesting and incisive, as befits his previous occupation.

Anniebach Tue 02-Jan-18 19:50:05

Or momentum are making sure he gets far less air time than his leader

durhamjen Tue 02-Jan-18 19:54:02

Shouldn't a leader get more airtime anyway, Annie?
Just because you don't like Corbyn, you shouldn't let your ideas run away with you.
May gets more airtime than any of her cabinet.

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 20:19:23

Probably Corbyn is easier to manipulate and promote (by Momentum) than Starmer, and anyway he isn’t a far left Labour MP.Certainly not a Marxist.

durhamjen Tue 02-Jan-18 20:21:05

Nothing to do with Momentum.
By the way, do you realise what you have said there?
I agree that Corbyn isn't a far-left Marxist.

jura2 Tue 02-Jan-18 20:23:07

lemongrove, we desperately need you on the other thread, please- about the Cons cabinet reshuffle. We need your advice and vision- never mind about Labour- they are not in GVT are they?

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 20:31:53

‘Desperately need you’ grin yes, I just bet you do!
However I had already decided not to look at or join in anything more on that particular thread, (why would anybody) it is just for those of a left wing persuasion to have a grumble fest, so you carry on enjoying it jura2
It will become the usual echo chamber I expect, without any dissenting voices to spoil it with opposing views.

dj I think it is patently obvious that Starmer isn’t a Marxist but Corbyn probably is, along with friend McDonnell.

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 20:33:50

Annie grin yes, you should have copyright on that for sure.

jura2 Tue 02-Jan-18 20:43:08

so you refuse to look at the issues we have now- refuse to give any ideas about how to solve them, how Mrs May could reshuffle her Cabinet to be, let's say, more effective and get us out of the disaster we find ourselves in ...

but you are very happy wating time harping on about Corbyn, who has very little influence on what happens now-

Why would anybody? Because it is the Cons who are in charge NOW, and we desperately do need them to get sorted out before we all fall of that cliff...

Do you know the meaning of left-wing. Even in the UK, there are other options that left and right, and especially extreme left and right ...

Anniebach Tue 02-Jan-18 20:45:07

Immitation is etc lemon ?

Anniebach Tue 02-Jan-18 20:46:41

Corbyn has now claimed the centre ground, well it was new year so he may have been a bit ?

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 20:50:21

True Annie

jura2 ......are you not getting just a teensy bit obsessed by me.
I can please myself about which threads I comment on I believe.
I shall be off this thread as well if you continue stalking behavior.
Some posters seem to be driving themselves half crazy with their worrying about politics night and day.

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 20:53:03

Mrs May is quite capable of doing a Cabinet reshuffle without my help btw or yours or anyone else.In any case that is another thread, and we do not talk about other threads on GN.

durhamjen Tue 02-Jan-18 20:58:30

A bit what, Annie, and lemon?
You need to be careful spreading rumours.

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 21:03:42

A bit merry, shall we say? tchgrin

durhamjen Tue 02-Jan-18 21:07:08

That's what I thought, spreading rumours.
He doesn't drink alcohol.

By the way I find myself much more interested in politcs than when I am going to take my decorations down.
You could just stay on pleasant threads like that, rather than criticise Corbyn for being drunk. I would have thought Annie would have known that, too, as she seems to know so much more about Corbyn than anyone else.

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 21:08:50

Oh, are you stalking my posts as well dj ? Flattering but rather weird.

lemongrove Tue 02-Jan-18 21:10:42

So, he is vegetarian and doesn’t have a drink? It’s worse than I feared!

POGS Tue 02-Jan-18 21:39:17

"Whilst Corbyn once talked of leaving the single market "

Yes he did, John McDonnell at the last count still is.

Nobody understands where Labour stands on the Single Market Customs Union because Labour faces 2 ways dependent on who/where/when any Labour MP / Shadow Cabinet member is being interviewed .

It still doesn't answer the question how can anybody ' state ' we will stay in the Single Market and 'leave' the EU without the EU agreeing to loosen the treaty rules and the ' no cherry picking' over the 4 pillars/freedoms?

Keir Starmer has had a flipflop journey over where he stands and for a supposed government in waiting Labour will have to take the splinter out of it's backside sitting on the fence trying to please everybody, you can't , that is why being in government is a hell of a lot more difficult than being the Shadow Government.

Labour are as split over Brexit as the Conservatives but Corbyn is standing the risk of losing his Bennite comrades / old loyal membership for the opportunity of getting votes from the 'new intake' of Labour members. He could be playing a good game that pays off but it is a gamble.

durhamjen Tue 02-Jan-18 21:43:21

Even more silly, lemon. You can't accuse him of being merry then say that not drinking is worse!
You really are making yourself look ridiculous.

Like you, I am allowed to look at any thread I want to. It's not stalking.
But to complain that people worry about politics on political threads - we could say that you stalk us as you are patently not interested in politics.

Anniebach Tue 02-Jan-18 22:06:51

Vegetarian, doesn't drink, grows veg in his allotment, makes jam, watches Love Island , wears vests , fur coat and shell suits, rides a bike and enjoys being a bridegroom
