It is not given to me to start a threads on politics, I don't believe I have ever contributed to one either.
However I cannot let pass the comment from a conservative councillor currently skiing in the USA who wants the homeless and rough sleepers cleared from the streets of
Windsor before the wedding in May.
God forbid that visitors here to see an obscene and ostentatious picture of wealth and privelage should be confronted by the "have nots" of our society.

Apologies, typo, incumbent leader No. 5

Do you think some people have forgotten that Briton was at one time in history land joined to Europe, ( no need for a referendum if the sea had been a little kinder ! ) and that all humans originated from Asia?
Due to global warming, fairly rapid so I understand, *Bridgeit, and I though we came out of Africa not Asia?
I could be wrong.

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 14-Jan-18 23:36:17

No Jalima, you're right. The latest research shows the first human migration was in small groups out of Africa about 120,000 years ago.

This Newsweek article is interesting

I find it fascinating that DNA technology is now sophisticated enough not only to tell each of us what parts of the world we come from, but what kind of early humans we're made up from too.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 23:41:44

It is fascinating.

The good news is that this seedy couple have decided to split. But why does the BBC find it necessary to repeat a selection of the offensive comments at every opportunity?

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 08:56:20

Just hope the abandoned wife doesn't take him back.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 09:13:36

I hope she does what is best for her and her children

maryeliza54 Mon 15-Jan-18 09:27:02

Is it just the BBC eazy?

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 09:49:04

I would think that someone who abandoned his wife and children for a younger model when the youngest child is a year old is not someone to take back for the sake of the children.

maryeliza54 Mon 15-Jan-18 10:01:16

Absolutely dj - however there is part of me that thinks if you marry a UKIP member......

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 10:02:44

I did not say for the sake of the children , I did say what was best for her and her children. Any man who dumps his wife is a toad, in my opinion.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 10:07:49

How can this woman claim her text was taken out of context

maryeliza54 Mon 15-Jan-18 10:12:21

Any minute now .......

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:05:14

I think it happens across the political spectrum ie husbands dumping wives, vice vera, affairs etc.
Is it more prevalent than in RL?

Dandylion Mon 15-Jan-18 11:20:12

Why does the Country still have to have UKIP? The procession of sleaze-ball Chairmen is depressing to endure and their purpose has evaporated post-Referendum. Get off the scene and give us all back our dignity.

Bridgeit Mon 15-Jan-18 11:23:19

I'm agree Dandylion , well said .

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 11:26:16

I don't think it is more prevalent in politics than RL, divorce rate is over 40% . A politician having an affair will make the news, not the milkman or postman

maryeliza54 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:27:40

I don’t think anyone is suggesting a link between political party and marital breakdown. Obviously there is the particular context of Westminster which may make affairs more likely - who knows though? Also some marriages breakdown in situations that seem more reprehensible than others - such as walking out days before Christmas when you have a 1 and 4 year old. I also thought Robin Cooks dumping of his wife by phone (was it?) from an airport pretty awful too. But we never know the full story do we? Don’t half of all marriages end in divorce these days - and before divorce reform there were very very many unhappy marriages where, in particular women were trapped.

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:31:35

divorce rate is over 40%
And in some families much higher eg the Royal Family.
I do hope that this one is a keeper.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 11:49:23

Jalima, the RF divorce rate rose with queenies children , for such a large family I think four divorces are not high, but I am including all the windsors , oh and a seperation but no divorce . Suppose early days for the younger branch

maryeliza54 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:54:23

Well a divorce rate of 75% in one nuclear family does make you wonder about all sorts of things doesn’t it? But having said that, I’m glad that they were able to divorce because in the past how many thoroughly awful royal marriages were there - Princes of Wales don’t have a good track record.

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 16:10:09

Have to thank Henry V111 for that. At least they no longer behead unwanted wives.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 16:41:58

Or adulterous wives

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 17:26:45

Or torture their courtiers to admit to adultery with the queen.

Ilovecheese Mon 15-Jan-18 17:36:39

Or teenage wives
