The royal wedding.

It is not given to me to start a threads on politics, I don't believe I have ever contributed to one either.
However I cannot let pass the comment from a conservative councillor currently skiing in the USA who wants the homeless and rough sleepers cleared from the streets of
Windsor before the wedding in May.
God forbid that visitors here to see an obscene and ostentatious picture of wealth and privelage should be confronted by the "have nots" of our society.

Headline as quoted in the first few seconds followed by the fuller report a minute into the bulletin. In both reports I quoted the relationship between the two was made clear. Neither said anything like ' a female UKIP member'. They referred to her as his girlfriend and also used her name.
I use the BBC iPlayer specifically for radio

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 20:26:10

I didn't know there was an iPlayer for radio seperated from tv, little wonder I couldn't find it, thank you

lemongrove Sun 14-Jan-18 20:33:36

mcem what the hell does it matter! You and Maryeliza are keeping on hounding a poster who you well know lost her daughter in tragic circumstances before Christmas.
So much for left wing compassion and ‘caring’.
Bloody disgusting!

Oldwoman70 Sun 14-Jan-18 20:37:57

I have only just come to this thread - is it really important to quote the exact words used in a news bulletin from 14 hours ago? We are all intelligent adults why not just let it go and focus on something more serious, such as the hateful remarks made by this young woman

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 20:43:51

I said the same many posts ago Oldwoman

Iam64 Sun 14-Jan-18 20:49:37

I posted earlier but somehow it is lost in space - saying much the same as Oldwoman. The consensus here is criticism for the loathsome young woman who made disgusting racist comments and for her partner, the Ukip leader (not for much longer we expect)
Surely that is the significant thing here, not hounding someone who is in agreement with the consensus.

mcem Sun 14-Jan-18 20:56:20

I am not hounding anyone.
With no comments for or against Annie's posts or mary's posts I simply quoted verbatim what was said in the main bulletin and, more specifically, what was said in the preceding headline.
The reason that I continued to post was to establish that what I'd said was in fact true.
If you read my posts you'll see that I was not actually backing or supporting Mary. You might be surprised to learn that in the past I 've disagreed with her almost as often as I have with you, but very rarely (if ever) have I had to disagree with Annie.
But then that doesn't suit the left/right fighting agenda that you're so keen to promote.
If Annie does manage to access BBC iPlayer or if someone could do it on her behalf then the situation will be perfectly clear.

mcem Sun 14-Jan-18 20:57:41

That was of course to lemon and not to Iam64.

lemongrove Sun 14-Jan-18 21:02:56

I expected you to reply with a sanctimonious post, and you did mcem
How about just giving the subject a rest.

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 21:08:35

Still seeking mcem,

You are right Iam, what matters is the racist tweets. I have said in the past I experienced racism when asked by a publican if my companion ,a black S.A. And I would mind eating our meal in small room in the back, that was the early sixties.

Chewbacca Sun 14-Jan-18 21:15:28

Agreed lemongrove . It's been ugly watching the nitpicking, spiteful picking apart to the nth detail on here. Not one person has posted their support for Jo Marney, or her limp biscuit boyfriend, and that includes anniebach.
Day6 tried to calm things down ages ago but the usual aggressive posters just won't let up until their posts become so awful that they get deleted.
For the record I am centre/slightly right wing and I deplore and detest UKIP, Jo Marney, her pathetic excuse of a partner and I'm delighted he's being "encouraged" to step down. There! I managed to say all that without swearing or using infantile acronyms.

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 21:18:28

Chewbacca, I am left of centre ? And agree with all you said about that woman and the leader .

Jaycee5 Sun 14-Jan-18 21:23:45

I don't think that there are any UKIP supporters on here including the Leave voters.
They would be insignificant if the media would stop giving them so much attention.
There are many other small parties which have something interesting to say but they never get air time - like NHAP which was set up by doctors to support the NHS and, although they have not yet got anyone in power, they do get a fair amount of votes for a new party and they could have had an MP if Labour had made a pact with them.
I have asked the Wright Stuff why they don't have someone from a party like that on particularly when they are discussing the NHS but they will only stick with the main two with LibDems and UKIP occasionally.

WilmaKnickersfit Sun 14-Jan-18 22:24:43

Bridgeit ignorant and bigoted yes, but using blatantly racist language no. In my own mind there's a line between the two and Jo Marney's comments are over that line. For me there's also something about saying out loud what other people might think inside, but not voice. It's about degrees. Sorry, I don't know if I'm making any sense.

Brandon Lewis on Marr this morning asked about online abuse of Diane Abbott. He refused to stick up for her or apologise for it.

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 22:43:37

What would you expect from BL? There’s racism and then there’s racism - it all depends on who’s at the receiving end doesn’t it?

durhamjen Sun 14-Jan-18 22:43:56

Did any right-winger stand up for Sadiq Khan when he was criticised by trump?

maryeliza54 Sun 14-Jan-18 22:45:27

Of course not dj

durhamjen Sun 14-Jan-18 22:47:49

Sounds like Bolton's been told he has to choose between girlfriend and leadership.
Of course, I only know this as I am listening to the news review on the BBC news channel.
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. I do tend to listen to more than the first ten seconds.

durhamjen Sun 14-Jan-18 22:48:59

No Ukip wallies on here, maryeliza.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 22:51:02

Bolton: "UKIP is a party of leaders"
DH: "Yes, they are, four since Brexit - soon to be five"

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 22:53:24

Come on, jalima. Nothing wrong with saying ffs, is there?
djen none at all!

ps did not understand the previous post.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Jan-18 22:56:26

because it did not relate to what I had posted, so did not seem to refer to my post.

Chewbacca Sun 14-Jan-18 22:58:54

No, you're not wrong about Bolton being encouraged to stand down. I posted about that at 21.15, so its not breaking news. UKIP are probably scraping even deeper into their barrel to find incumbent leader no. 6.
Maryeliza, I'm quite happy to be "a disgrace" by your standards. Its "my* standards that count, not yours.
