any thoughts?

Not heard of Britain First, then, lemon?
Cold shoulder maybe in your secluded area of the country, but that's not the whole of the UK.
Of course, you don't read anything that doesn't involve you or your family, do you?
Can you explain why?

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 19:58:03

I wish I could blue it.

I wish you could too, ww! Just get the thread up then copy and paste the words that are in the address bar into your post. You don't need to do anything else...

I've looked for it in her timeline but as I'm not absolutely sure what I'm looking for I can't really find it...

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:01:55

It’s a tweet so how do I do that?

Honestly I wouldn’t hold your breath my skills are minus zero it is absolutely pathetic.

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 20:03:16

All I see here is a wee bit of hysteria going on about Rees Mogg.

Actually, lemon that's not all that is on this thread but you clearly have your eyes shut to all the rest. Though, if that's all you can see how come you think we're being silly about the stirrings of fascism in the UK.

Perhaps you'd like to explain how calling judges 'enemies of the people' and MPs 'traitors' and 'saboteurs' is perfectly reasonable and not fascist in the least?

This is a test

Failed!

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 20:05:10

Click on the tweet so that it comes up as a new thread. Then copy what's in the address bar and paste it into your post on here. (If I were more of a computer expert I'd screenshot to show you how to do it, but I'm not sad)

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 20:08:57

Not a bad attempt! But that just gets me a google search that leads to her twitter account. It's not blue because it's not a web address; a web address has www. in front of it.

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:09:51

I have an iPad so I don’t seem to have a paste facility do I?

durhamjen Thu 08-Feb-18 20:11:30

Britain First being given the cold shoulder.

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:13:52

Stop showing off dj grin I think that was what Margolis was commenting on.

It is the underlying anti-semitism that gets me. It is so amorphous so difficult to exactly outline, but everyone knows exactly what they are on about.

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 20:14:07

Take your pick of instructions, ww!

GracesGranMK2 Thu 08-Feb-18 20:26:35

I am not sure what Zoe Margolis said but certainly there was a lot of chatter on the news programmes about the front page article in the Telegraph this morning.

Theresa May’s former chief of staff has been accused of dredging up an antisemitic conspiracy theory after contributing to an article which claims Jewish financier George Soros supports a “secret plot” to thwart Brexit.

Now I think he is a prominent conservative.

It is also fairly obvious that many of the accusations against "the Labour Party" when it comes to anti-Semitism are because many on the left have a great deal of opposition to the Israeli government stand on Palestine - which is not an anti-Semitic stance.

GracesGranMK2 Thu 08-Feb-18 20:28:16

Well done whitewave! The first of many smile

lemongrove Thu 08-Feb-18 20:29:02

Britain First , the EDL, are small groups with no power whatsoever, there are similar groups in most if not all European countries, without the populace there thinking that they are taking over. These groups have been there for years and years in most cases.
There is underlying antisemitism in both the far right and far left.
There is no ‘stirrings of fascism’in the UK, a group would need power for that to happen, in fact there is probably less here than in any other country in Europe.
However, you are all enjoying yourselves so much writing about this ‘fear’ ......so who am I to deny you this.
Carry on ‘carrying on’.

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:30:44

I’ve posted it gg be impressed by my newly acquired skills.

Mind you I’ve just done the same on the diet thread but the result bears nothing to what I intended. God knows what happened there.

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 21:00:44

Congratulations, ww!

MaizieD Thu 08-Feb-18 21:03:07

Still no comment on the fascist language, lemon?

enemies of the people
traitors
saboteurs
and even, the will of the people

It pervades the right wing media

durhamjen Thu 08-Feb-18 22:59:33

Zoe Margolis was actually tweeting a paragraph from this article by Rafael Behr.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/feb/08/brexit-antisemitic-dog-whistle-daily-telegraph-george-soros

durhamjen Thu 08-Feb-18 23:02:18

Britain First supports the man that many people want to be the next PM when May finishes, and you think that's not powerful enough, lemon.
Yes, I think you'd be better off sticking your fingers in your ears and leaving us to it.

whitewave Fri 09-Feb-18 09:54:40

George Soros has been identified by the fascist groups in Hungary, Poland and Italy as the enemy they love to hate. Posters of Soros next to a dead pig have been posted in Hungary.
Soros is a philanthropist who has given billions to projects supporting human rights, the rule of law, education, public health, LGBT and Roma rights, a free press and transport networks across eastern and Central Europe. Other projects include supporting scholarships for Black South African children under apartheid.

Now the hard right in the U.K. has him in their sights, and the Torygraph headlines this week, sought to place Soros firmly as an enemy.

Soros is backing the remain side and is funding the “Best for Britain” campaign headed by Mark Malloch Brown, the former UN Deputy Secretary-general.

There are 70 members of the ERG. That's easily enough to get rid of May when Mogg is ready.

whitewave Fri 09-Feb-18 10:45:21

Saw that. She’s in hock up to her eyeballs.
