Poverty of ideas
Poverty of economy

It seems that NI is as useless said to stay in the Single Market according to EU draft.

Expect a major row from the headbangers and denial from Number 10

Round and around we go.

Owen Smith

“The public haven’t decided to make the country poorer, or have an Irish border, or on free movement for the rich but not the poor, nor to take the rules with not the say.
Whatever the deal it won’t match the promises”

Exactly

Quite.
Is it actually morally right to take the country into a perilous future because of a Referendum when nobody knew what Leave would mean?
MPs have a duty to protect their constituents’ interests.

how good brexit was because food was more expensive and people can no longer afford holidays so we're staying at home and getting fit and healthy

Well, there you go grin

Every cloud has a silver lining. After a few years pf Brexit we'll all be fitter and meaner... (in better trim to fight over the diminishing food supplies, no doubt)

Everyone who has a garden will be exhorted to 'Dig For Brexit' and grow their own vegetables. Parks will be ploughed up to plant potatoes in.. football pitches turned over to grow carrots and cabbage...

Ooh, what fun it will all be; just like the old days* when everyone pulled together to win the war... '*Together We'll Beat Brexit*' I can see the posters now...

*The old days which people seem to yearn to return to but which actually most of us aren't old enough to remember.

Yggdrasil; yes; I do that when I'm upstairs [have the radio next to the bed; getting to love the shipping forecast!!] and I also think that, if I have R4 or the world service on I might learn things while I'm asleep, but if I nod off on the sofa I have BBC 4 on; last night I watched several programmes about the Inca's.....unfortunately, I woke up to the sound of a dog barking [which is what happens when BBC4 closes down, so I clicked onto BBC before falling asleep again...

And Maizie, all the old people will die younger as food is too expensive and the NHS won’t have any money or staff.
Wow no pensions to pay.
The future is looking bright post-Brexit!
(For some).

Great Northern March today looks as if it’s going to be massive.

Bet it isn’t reported on MSM though.

Tegan2 Sat 24-Mar-18 09:51:32

My friend has put my name on her flag, so I'm there in spirit, but I'm hoping to go to the Newcastle event tomorrow if my cold bug is better....

The sort of article that should have been written before the referendum.

Great Northern March, Leeds, 11.00.
So you don't reckon there'll be someone from the BBC there, Tegan?

whitewave Sat 24-Mar-18 10:17:20

Don’t

There is brutish jingoism abroad in the country

Worries about Brexit from health professionals.

durhamjen Sat 24-Mar-18 11:30:06

"The UK Government is running out of time. In principle, terms for the Brexit transition period were agreed on March 19, but the detail, especially on Northern Ireland, has yet to be ironed out. The NHS was a major battleground in the lead up to the referendum, but the consequences of a soft, hard, or failed Brexit for the nation's health must now take centre stage. Rising child mortality rates should be the final alert. When will the UK Government wake up to the timebomb that Brexit is for the NHS and the nation's health?"

It is very interesting to see that so many people in Leeds want to stop brexit.

This week's Question Time came from Leeds and one of the angry young brexiters in the specially selected audience said "Who says young people didn't vote for brexit? All my friends, all under the age of 25, voted brexit. All my community voted brexit. All the people I know voted brexit"

A clear majority of the young audience agreed with him, unsurprising when you find out that the Question Time audience is selected by a woman with the same views, Alison Fuller Pedley who has retweeted posts from ultra-right wing groups.

She should never have been given a job like that which so discredits the BBC which once had a reputation for impartiality. Just remind yourself if you ever watch news or political programmes that nowadays BBC stands for Brexit Broadcasting Corporation.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 24-Mar-18 12:27:18

Cities generally voted remain, didn't they?

Bridgeit Sat 24-Mar-18 13:36:25

Where did you get this statistic which you asking about from GG is it verifiable ?

durhamjen Sat 24-Mar-18 13:42:58

It's not a statistic. It's a question.

durhamjen Sat 24-Mar-18 13:46:07

Leeds voted to remain!

Bridgeit Sat 24-Mar-18 13:47:35

Ohhps, so where did the assumption for the question come from, thatswhat I am asking how was it mooted or where did it originate from.?

Bridgeit Sat 24-Mar-18 13:48:58

Or is it meant to be ironic

durhamjen Sat 24-Mar-18 14:08:13

From her mind, I assume. Do you never ask such questions, Bridgeit?
I am sure you can find out on the BBC website whether it's true or not.

Bridgeit Sat 24-Mar-18 14:13:16

You are absolutely correct I could DJ, but as I am actively on GN I thought I would pose my question on the thread to those participating GNetters, isn’t that the point of it all .?
