i knew about the piper and about rates of pay in the army but, sorry, can't get annoyed or excited about this.
i think it's a tradition and perhaps i'm a traditionalist and i don't see any reason it should be stopped.

Glad to hear so many really don't get excited about this. I've sometimes wondered if there is something lacking in my makeup as I often find it hard to get het up/offended/excited by something (not just this) that others seem to take to heart.

When you think of the billions of pounds the Royal family has brought into the country in tourist pounds, not to mention the decades of political and national stability over which the Queen has presided, a picturesque alarm clock does not seem overly expensive.

Imagine the self important aggrandisement of a President Blair, for example, as an alternative.

It’s heartening to read that so many of us love our hard working, selfless queen and that we support our wonderful armed services.
