All the foregoing begs the question why Debbie Abrahams has decided to "stand down" from her position in the Labour Party and "go public" while she has not engaged all the above procedures?
I think you're confusing the process for MPs with a process for employees. Where did you get the info from?
She didn't decide to stand down. She was forced to stand down. That's why she went public.
Any chance of a response to my other questions? Still interested in discussing your 'theories' on Hamas and the Russians.] End Quote
Debbie Abrahams would have received her statutory salary as an constituency MP plus expenses. However, as a shadow minister, she would also receive from the labour party an enhanced salary via what is known as "short money" or "short list" which on receiving that payment would make her an employee of the Labour party or with her brief being her employment contract for the position.
The "Short Money" which is paid directly to Jeremy Corbyns office as opposition leader totalled approximately seven million four hundred thousand in 2017. Enhanced salaries for shadow ministers are paid from that amount.
Where did I get the information in regard to employment legislation, it is part of my job. I have attended over the years very many disciplinary investigations, hearings and appeals in an advisory capacity to employers where employees have fallen foul of workplace safety rules or legislation.
From what I have read in the little time I had available today, Debbie Abrahams was suspended from her position pending an inquiry into "employment Issues".
In regard to your above remark on Hama's I believe I have already stated that I feel that the organisation still speak widely for the Palestinian people, although in Gaza they have been challenged by other groups in recent years outside "official authorities". However, on the Golan Heights in recent years they have become the main voice against the continued Israeli occupation of the West Bank.
In regard to Russia in the Gorbachev era, had the EU offered the prospect of membership status or even associate status at sometime in the future then things may have developed totally different to how they did. In short, more positive support by Europe and America was very much what was needed at that time.
By the way primrose you stated in one posting that a number of pre soviet block countries joined the EU in 2004 when they achieved full independence from that former block in late 80s-90s, how was that fast track. I would believe that looking how the EU slowly proceeds on almost any matter, that is very much fast track. (LOL)
Anyway, just finished so I knocked the above out in a few minutes just before leaving the office. Therefore I apologise if there are any text errors in the above.
By the way, employees under disciplinary investigation are required by legislation to be suspended from their employment on full pay while the entire disciplinary procedure is carried out.
