Well said dj I’m always surprised st the way certain posters smear one side without having the knowledge base to realise that both sides are probably implicated in the behaviour criticised.
How did you vote and why today
Simple title so should be easy to update everyone with any bits of knowledge we gain.

In the 25-54 age group, Labour lead the Tories by 22%
Bring on the next general election.
Jen, I did read his post. I also read the briefing papers you can download from
www.parliament.uk/about/mps-and-lords/members/pay-mps/
However, as a shadow minister, she would also receive from the labour party an enhanced salary via what is known as "short money" or "short list"
Short money pays for researchers and some other expenses, not an additional salary for anyone Corbyn wants to give a 'top up' to, as far as I can see.
which on receiving that payment would make her an employee of the Labour party or with her brief being her employment contract for the position.
Not necessarily at all. You can receive payment for work without a contract of employment - millions of people in the UK do this every day. Having a ministerial brief is really not commensurate with an employment contract.
This is what I'd like to see some evidence for. It's just an assumption which contradicts the official parliamentary literature, as far as I can see.
What on Earth are you talking about lg? Why is it impossible to have a straight forwardward exchange of views with some of you?
So will 17 tory MPs, including David Davis.
Mc Donnell will have to stop appearing on Russia Today now.
I don’t think I asked you to answer a question maryeliza but that’s ok.
OK sorry maryeliza . I'm out of date.
I well remember John Prescott and his personal problems when we were living in Hull.
Yes lg I did mean DP - there was an allegation, he was suspended, there was an investigation, he was cleared and was reinstated. TBF he behaved properly throughout. Much as I like DA I’m not sure she’s done herself any favours in her public responses. As for employing each other’s children - I think you’ll find that’s right across the political parties -nepotism is also alive and well with the Tories. Why not just stick to the main point at issue rather than segueing off into smearlland?
Did you watch the PM’s statement durhamjen ?
Grandad you posted earlier today that Debbie Abrahams had stood down, one or two of us said that was not correct, and that she had been suspended, niw you are agreeing with us I see.
Primrose, read Grandad's post again.
He explains why some MPs are employed in a certain capacity.
It’s well worth watching.
Abysmal performance by Corbyn in the House this evening, in answer to the PM giving a statement about the Russian poisonings case in Salisbury!
All the Labour MP’s commended the PM ( except Corbyn) and he sat slumped on the bench, what a disgrace the man is, teying to score petty party political points at this time. You should all watch the entire spectacle,
Fennel, I think ME was referring to David Prescott, who is John Prescott's son, who works in Corbyns office. They all employ each other's children. He was suspended late last year for something - I don't remember the detail now.
It's not his job Jen. Employment law does not apply to MPs.
Grandad, MPs are not employed. So employment law does not apply to them. Everything about 'existing employment legislation' may be relevant to employees, but not to MPs. As they are not employed.
Just repeating the same nebulous comments about Hamas and Russia, despite me sharing some contradictory evidence is pretty disappointing. It makes me think that you have your opinion, not based on any sort of evidence, and whatever anyone says, that's your view. Is that a fair assumption that I've made?
"That happened with David Prescott for example"
JOHN Prescott s'il vous plait.
And as to Grandad's comments about Hamas in Palestine, above, there's a lot more to the subject (as always in the ME).
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatah%E2%80%93Hamas_conflict
The present Palestinian leader, Mahmood Abbas, belongs to the Fatah group.
It's the old Arab story of Shia vs Sunni.
It's his job, Annie. He's just said so.
Do you never read anything properly?
General I find the more that you know about a subject, the more you can post quickly about it. The less know, the more you just keep on repeating the same old same old
I am in awe that so much can be brought to mind in just a few minutes Granddad1943, especially the monies paid to Corbyn's office last year

All the foregoing begs the question why Debbie Abrahams has decided to "stand down" from her position in the Labour Party and "go public" while she has not engaged all the above procedures?
I think you're confusing the process for MPs with a process for employees. Where did you get the info from?
She didn't decide to stand down. She was forced to stand down. That's why she went public.
Any chance of a response to my other questions? Still interested in discussing your 'theories' on Hamas and the Russians.] End Quote
Debbie Abrahams would have received her statutory salary as an constituency MP plus expenses. However, as a shadow minister, she would also receive from the labour party an enhanced salary via what is known as "short money" or "short list" which on receiving that payment would make her an employee of the Labour party or with her brief being her employment contract for the position.
The "Short Money" which is paid directly to Jeremy Corbyns office as opposition leader totalled approximately seven million four hundred thousand in 2017. Enhanced salaries for shadow ministers are paid from that amount.
Where did I get the information in regard to employment legislation, it is part of my job. I have attended over the years very many disciplinary investigations, hearings and appeals in an advisory capacity to employers where employees have fallen foul of workplace safety rules or legislation.
From what I have read in the little time I had available today, Debbie Abrahams was suspended from her position pending an inquiry into "employment Issues".
In regard to your above remark on Hama's I believe I have already stated that I feel that the organisation still speak widely for the Palestinian people, although in Gaza they have been challenged by other groups in recent years outside "official authorities". However, on the Golan Heights in recent years they have become the main voice against the continued Israeli occupation of the West Bank.
In regard to Russia in the Gorbachev era, had the EU offered the prospect of membership status or even associate status at sometime in the future then things may have developed totally different to how they did. In short, more positive support by Europe and America was very much what was needed at that time.
By the way primrose you stated in one posting that a number of pre soviet block countries joined the EU in 2004 when they achieved full independence from that former block in late 80s-90s, how was that fast track. I would believe that looking how the EU slowly proceeds on almost any matter, that is very much fast track. (LOL)
Anyway, just finished so I knocked the above out in a few minutes just before leaving the office. Therefore I apologise if there are any text errors in the above.
By the way, employees under disciplinary investigation are required by legislation to be suspended from their employment on full pay while the entire disciplinary procedure is carried out.
And of course the other two Hull MPs are women
I thought that usually once an allegation was made, the person accused is suspended whist the investigation takes place. That happened with David Prescott for example
I know that dj - I don’t understand your point
Yes maryeliza which is why i don't understand is why Debbie Abrahams was thrown off the shadow cabinet without being told what the allegations were, it was the party who made the announcement and she has replied
