A thread for all Corbyn lovers & haters

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:27:09

May was being sarcastic ( as well she might be.)

durhamjen Sun 25-Mar-18 19:27:48

So you are not going to answer my question?

durhamjen Sun 25-Mar-18 19:28:30

How was that being sarcastic?

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:29:53

Since Corbyn has said that the mural should be cleaned off now that he has seen it closely, does that mean that he is a member of the far right as well?

durhamjen Sun 25-Mar-18 19:29:54

Did you actually watch it? There was no sarcasm. She meant it.
Don't you think it is appalling to call every member of the labour party anti semitic?

whitewave Sun 25-Mar-18 19:30:12

lemon what do you get? And in what way can’t you agree with me?

durhamjen Sun 25-Mar-18 19:30:20

Including the Jewish ones?

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:31:03

Do you not understand sarcasm durhamjen ?

whitewave Sun 25-Mar-18 19:32:09

May wasn’t being sarcastic - how ridiculous. May was being Maybot

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:36:18

I get the fact that you are angry about charges of anti-semitism within the LP, and I can’t agree with you in any way about artistic license in the mural ( when it is quite obviously anti Jewish).
So many in that community had complained about it, and not only Jewish people either you will find.

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:38:10

The best way to dispel all charges of anti-semitism in either the LP or anywhere else is to not support disgraceful artwork.

Primrose65 Sun 25-Mar-18 19:42:06

If anyone's bored with the same old excuses, they can play Jeremy Corbyn Anti-Semitism Bingo from the comments on this thread.

whitewave Sun 25-Mar-18 19:43:32

No lemon you don’t remotely get it, neither do you apparently understand it.

When you throw out comments like that you really need to back them up otherwise they are just that - comments.

I ask again, have you looked at the artists explanation, and if so perhaps you would like to explain why you disagree with him?

Baggs Sun 25-Mar-18 19:51:23

Can you direct me to the artist's explanation, please, ww? I found a Guardian article but it didn't actually quote the artist.

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:52:37

I have looked at it and reject it completely.
The artist is anti-Jewish and anti-Capitalist and presumably lives a poor life on the meagre pickings of his artistic integrity ( sarcasm).
When all around you are talking of this mural with disgust
whitewave ( I take it that you have read reports about it)
And even Corbyn regrets his original tweet about it, why are you going overboard in defending it?
The Jewish people have had more than enough to put up with throughout history, and here in the 21st century is some huge wall painting in their neighbourhood depicting the old myth of Jews acting secretly to take over the world with wealth and stealth.

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 19:54:11

I would further say whitewave that actually it is you that doesn’t get it or understand it, not me.

whitewave Sun 25-Mar-18 19:55:20

Jewish Voice tweeted

“We are used to party leaders who only point out the problems in other parties, whilst ignoring problems in their own party. But Corbyn is different and willing to look within Labour and admit change is needed.

That is why Jewish Voice want Jeremy Corbyn for prime minister.

durhamjen Sun 25-Mar-18 19:55:21

But you still think it's okay for May to say that all labour party members are antisemitic. Is that right, lemon?

whitewave Sun 25-Mar-18 19:57:22

Where in any of his works or statements does the artist say he is anti-Jewish?

durhamjen Sun 25-Mar-18 19:59:45

GracesGran's post, 16:24, Baggs.

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 20:05:05

whitewave I suggest you look at the mural, the men are all Jewish stereotypes, and it is not just me saying that but just about everybody and his dog, including as I keep saying Corbyn.I think it is probably a waste of my time saying it to you though.

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 20:07:17

Corbyn is just now saying that he hopes to rebuild trust within the Jewish community in the LP ‘ we must stamp this out from our Party’ he says ‘and is sorry for any pain caused’.

whitewave Sun 25-Mar-18 20:09:32

lemon what on earth do you think I have been doing all day.? Do you think I plucked my posts out of thin air?

Because I have been researching the artist all day by looking at what he says he is trying to achieve in his art as well as studying his other recent works I was able to come to the conclusion I did.

Anniebach Sun 25-Mar-18 20:13:58

The list of labour candidates for the next election has been published.

One is a Mark McDonald, a human rights barrister who set up Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East , he was endorsed by Momentum.

He has worked with the Jewish Labour Movement to train activists how to avoid using offensive terms when debating the Middle East.

He has also given advise to controversial Labour activist Tony Greenstein, an anti Zionist campaigner who is currently suspended from the party.

Training how to avoid using offensive terms?

lemongrove Sun 25-Mar-18 20:14:14

Well that is your conclusion then ww which is at odds with what most people think.
Pointless engaging in more discussion with you regards anti-semitism, it seems you wouldn't know it if slapped about the head with it.
