Does Branson have a desk in Tory HQ?
Retirement is it what you thought it would be?
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…
Does Branson have a desk in Tory HQ?

There we have it - the LP is no longer 'a broad church'
1. Anything slightly to the left of centre will be condemned as Marxist or communist.
4. None of the posters who make accusations about Marxism are right wing (although you might assume they were from their posts)
Absolute rubbish as there are many Gransnetters who are left of centre but are worried about the present LP, about its takeover by self-professed Marxists and about the shambles that it is in. There are many who do not post any more because they are accused of being 'right wing'.
Perhaps it is significant that this poster has told us on previous threads that her relative was a communist so that we can see from whence she gets her political ideals - so we could assume that they are hardly 'broad church ideals'.
The LP under the present regime has become narrow-minded, blinkered and intolerant.
The posters grandfather was a communist .
Communism is certaintly not slightly to the left and Corbyn and Co are certaintly not slightly to the left.
Now it seems anyone left of centre is a Tory
so that we can see from whence she gets her political ideals
from the poster's own words, or very similar, not my own interpretation of them.
That is absolutely fine, as long as there is tolerance of those who are to the left of centre and they are not accused of being of the extreme right.
Suppose those of the far left would see anyone left of centre as Tory, it's communism belief . My way or no way.
My grandfather was a communist, a docker and a union man. I am not a communist. I do know people who are communists and I understand the difference between socialism and communism which many on GN do not. They are alas still scared of the Reds under the beds.
Grandad 1945
"Whether those policies will be accepted by the wider electorate at election is yet to be tested. However, it is only fitting and correct that those which pay the Labour party's bills and provide its core support choose by debate and majority what those policies should be, and those who cannot accept that democratic process should stand aside."
That is a perfectly clear reference to the Unions controlling the Labour Party as they are the 'Paymaster'.
Another point of view that some refuse to accept.
Grandad 1945
" Remaining as an MP and accepting a salary while in a party whose policies and leadership you do not believe in or support is entirely unacceptable at any level. Therefore, should any constituency Labour party find they have someone who is in the foregoing status, then to de-select that MP should without question be carried out."
A bloody good job for the likes of Corbyn/McDonnell that attitude did not apply to them over the years!
Some of us have said for over 2 years now, since Corbyn became Leader, Labour is now 2 parties and you keep making the case to see how and why so many hold that opinion.
I have said before the days of Labour being a 'Broad Church ' has passed.
After fifty years of unbroken membership, canvassing at every election, chairperson of my local party, elected representive of a womans labour group, the last two I resigned from last year, I am now a whining Winnie who should get out of the party according to a union supporter who is not even a member of the Labour Party.
And just why does 71 year old members of a party raise a LOL, considering the sacred Jeremy is heading for 70 and has said he can stay as leader and be PM when age 78 I too can say LOL

" They are alas still scared of the Reds under the beds."
I think a lot are concerned how those days are gaining a resurgence since Corbyn/McDonnell took the helm with the aid of the Jeremy for Leader/Momentum backing.
Those were days that lost good Union men like my father and myself as a Labour voter as I have mentioned many times before.
Only 13% of UNITE members bothered to vote at last years UNITE leadership contest
As for 'reds under the bed '. rubbish , now the reds in the Labour Party are very much out in the open

1. Anything slightly to the left of centre will be condemned as Marxist or communist.
But Corbyn and McDonnell do not shy away from saying they are Marxist/Communist through their words, deeds and writing. -
2 . Any party proposing such notions will be accused of trying to create a government like Venezuela.
Because Corbyn/McDonnell have for years held Venezuela as a country we the UK should aspire to become! They feted Hugo Chavez.--
3. Not responding to your point 3 as it was just a personal attack and that's your decision to make.---
4. None of the posters who make accusations about Marxism are right wing (although you might assume they were from their posts)
Many of us have tried to bring reason and create evidence based discussions. We have all failed.
Good Luck!!!
I think 'failure' is applicable to those who have provided reasoned and evidence based discussions over the past 2 years but from the other side of the table.
Little reason and no evidence as usual POGS if you want to assert that Labour will establish a government like Venzuela you need to evidence the statements and the policies they will introduce to do so. You can't and they won't.
The other side of the table are fond of doing this.
I can't be bothered to reply to the rest it is as usual rhetoric without any reason.
anniebach, you state that Len McCluskey "has a desk at Labour Party headquarters", could you therefore please inform forum users of where are you gained evidence for that in support of your statement.
- Corbyn believes we should aspire to become a country like Venezuela
If it quacks like a duck and it walks like a duck - it is a duck
Google it Trisher , I gained it from several labour MP's who I have no intention of naming
My grandfather was a communist, a docker and a union man. I am not a communist.
I'll take it that when you told us that and then said that that was where you got your political views from, that it was in jest then.
My father was staunch Labour and a union man but far from being a communist.
I am now a whining Winnie who should get out of the party according to a union supporter who is not even a member of the Labour Party.
Anniebach
or cry!!
Of course, if the unions are providing one's bread and butter one will support them vigorously.
When I suggested Grandad1943 should speak to grassroots members of the party not just union supporters the reply was the union supporters are Labour members/supporters.
As someone who has canvassed both on foot and telephone for years when I speak of grassroots members I mean miners and ex miners, Factory workers, council workers, hospital workers , hairdressers, shop keepers, farmers, unemployed ,housewives, teachers, and more
Oh, you got the information that Len McCluskey has a desk in labour party HQ from a couple of MPs then anniebach. I find it rather strange that these 'MPs have not released that information to the wider media as there is no mention of it if you Google that subject
So, perhaps as forum members we can take the information as just another unsubstantiated accusation that has no real credence to it whatsoever.
So, perhaps as forum members we can take the information as just another unsubstantiated accusation that has no real credence to it whatsoever.
Are you accusing Anniebach of lying then Grandad?
No, just requesting that anniebach gives credence to her statement
Grandad 1945
What would be your opinion if Gerard Coyne succeeds in overturning the Unite Union Leadership vote ?
Are you a Coyne man or McCluskey?
Grandad name the union members you speak to as proof they are saying what you claim they are telling you , name your company who are employed by these unions
Pogs, I believe that if Gerald Coyne does succeed in overturning the General Secretary ballot he would still not be elected in any re-run. However, I do believe that Jerry Hicks could do very well (if he stands again) and could possibly win it
