Not the party of government? You astound me Watson!

Grandad1943 Mon 09-Jul-18 22:55:08

Lemongrove the Labour party is not the party of government, the Tory party are. Therefore it matters little what happens inside the Labour party at this point in time, but what is going on in the Tory party affects everyone of us.

What was it that Theresa May said entering Downing Street on becoming Prime Minister, something about "strong and Stable government I believe.

What a joke. grin

It’s not about the word MB I wouldn’t use it either but it will be forever associated with JH after JN’s gaffe and that’s what jura was referencing - she didn’t use the word so yes you and petra were being a bit precious

maryeliza54 Mon 09-Jul-18 22:50:06

Is it JH who ‘forgot’ he’d bought seven apartments? Hummm

lemongrove Mon 09-Jul-18 22:47:13

Maw ??

MawBroon Mon 09-Jul-18 22:45:41

The ‘C” word is one I would never use and I think it sits poorly on the lips of any woman.
Why should a part of your or my anatomy be deemed an insult?
Women are insulted and demeaned by the word’s use.
So, no, not “up myself” as you so charmingly put it, but I would be ashamed if my grandchildren were to hear the word, especially from their granny.

Anniebach Mon 09-Jul-18 22:45:31

I am a Labour Party member and the shadow cabinet is a pack of nodding dogs.

Why oh why does Corbyn need to read all his questions at PMQ, who writes them

lemongrove Mon 09-Jul-18 22:39:06

That’s possibly because you are a Labour supporter Lucky
grin although you ( or I ) could equally say the same about the shadow cabinet.

Luckygirl Mon 09-Jul-18 22:35:22

Oh please no - not Jeremy Hunt. His monumental incompetence and disgraceful chicanery during the junior doctors' dispute was chilling and horrifying. He is not fit to be in government at all, let alone supposedly representing us on the world stage. This incompetent cabinet is an embarrassment to everyone in Britain. I am appalled by it all.

No - it was JN

maryeliza54 Mon 09-Jul-18 22:30:14

Oh come on petra and MB no one will ever forget the Today programme and the Hunt - wasn’t it JH what did it?. Don’t be so up yourselves.

petra Mon 09-Jul-18 22:12:53

jura2
Is that a word you picked up when on holiday with those awful badly behaved brits. It obviously didn't bother you too much as your happy to use it.

MawBroon Mon 09-Jul-18 22:07:52

Boris is no loss to the Government, he gives a whole new meaning to the term “loose cannon”.
I could never understand how a man with (ostensibly ) a fine brain could be so hamfisted maladroit and downright stupid.
A Foreign Secretary with no notion of diplomacy? A liability.

lemongrove Mon 09-Jul-18 22:05:16

I think the Cabinet will do better without Boris.

lemongrove Mon 09-Jul-18 22:02:50

paddyann has never hidden her true colours ( sadly) and
Am with niggly.....if they want to go we will wave them off.
However, I doubt that Scotland will vote that way for the forseeable future.

Anniebach Mon 09-Jul-18 22:01:41

Matt Hancock health secretary

SueDonim Mon 09-Jul-18 21:51:18

Wow, you're showing your true colours now, Paddyann.

MawBroon Mon 09-Jul-18 21:38:38

yes, I remember that ... Hunt with an 'H' did you say

Unnecessarily vulgar wouldn’t you say, Jura 2?

paddyann Mon 09-Jul-18 21:36:51

well Niggly could it be for the sameereason your governmnet wants to hang onto us...we're the ones that subsidise their spending ..always have .There used to be accounts from Westminster ..but they stopped publishing them as Scots weren't too happy finding that we only got 30% of OUR money back and the rest went to fund "imperial services" Thats the stuff we still pay towards that has damn all to do with us and even worse is detrimental to us in many ways.Think the pollution from the nuclear bases !Of course they've had a wee bonus with oil for 40 odd years so they couldn't let us go while we had that
And then they decided to move our coastal boundaries...giving 6000 square miles to England..thats 6000 square miles that had a few oil rigs on it...surprise 1 No respect given from me to an institution that has no respect for us.
I could go on...but I know you'd be bored because you cant see why we should be bothered by how we're treated.Ironic isn't it that you want out of the EU for reasons that are far less serious .I'll campiagn for English independence anyday and so will millions of others and for Scottish independence and maybe THIS time we wont let the 800 000 English residents have a say in OUR country and its future ,Saor Alba .

jura2 Mon 09-Jul-18 21:35:35

yes, I remember that ... Hunt with an 'H' did you say?

So who will take charge and work miracles with NHS and Social Services then?

Grandad1943 Mon 09-Jul-18 21:20:15

Well, Jeremy Hunt has been useless as Health Secretary, so I suppose things will certainly not improve under him at the Foreign Office.

I thought he stated some time back that as Health Secretary it would be the last Ministerial position he would ever hold?

Anniebach Mon 09-Jul-18 21:05:03

Wonder who will get health

Pittcity Mon 09-Jul-18 21:00:56

They've given Jeremy Hunt the job.....out of the frying pan. ....

Ilovecheese Mon 09-Jul-18 20:32:12

Nigglynellie does not speak for me either. I think it would be a great shame if The United Kingdom broke up after all these years together in peace.
I understand why Scotland might want to leave because the Westminster Govt. has an effect on them, but I see no reason why England should raise a glass on seeing them leave.

I wonder if the new Foreign Secretary will remember Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Grandad1943 Mon 09-Jul-18 20:25:22

Yes, you are very right Lazigirl to remind us all of the plight of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe who had her already dire situation made far worse by the complete incompetence of Boris Johnson.

However, Theresa May tonight being applauded for her political bravery in facing down the hardline Brexitiers in the Tory party, at that time did not have the stomach or judgment to see Johnson sacked from of her Government.
