And he’s still sticking his nose in trisher - him and Brown.

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 12:46:15

Party members shouldn’t have freedom of speech , this is Corbyn/Momentum party’s view.

trisher Sat 08-Sep-18 12:50:08

It's a mater of clarification Annie nothing to do with free speech.

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 13:06:27

How can any party member be accused of sticking their nose in if they voice their opinions on party matters ? Are we here sticking our noses in? When I write to HQ am I sticking my nose in? No, this is freedom of speech, to condemn, critcise or praise . Fact.

Ilovecheese Sat 08-Sep-18 13:34:12

I would also like to know what the policies of the so called "centre left" actually are.
Is it to continue with selling off social housing?
Is it to continue with austerity?
Is it to continue with failed and expensive PFI contracts?
Is it to continue with privatising our public services?
We have already got those policies in a Conservative/DUP Government.

What exactly does "centre" mean?

trisher Sat 08-Sep-18 13:35:44

As I have already said those criticising might actually try setting out their own beliefs and how they conflict with the ones held by what they refer to as the "Hard left" until they do so it is just a lot of hot air and name calling. If that's what they want fair enough, if those are the standards of free speech you accept. Personally I would prefer a little more reasoned argument and a little less personal condemnation.

MawBroon Sat 08-Sep-18 13:43:04

Who, Old Meg ?

Labour backbencher Chuka Umunna has accused leader Jeremy Corbyn of driving centre-left MPs out of the party, urging him to "call off the dogs “.

I think it is quite clear that Chuka Umunna (probably among others)is talking about “bullying.”
At least one of the Labour MPs who lost the no-confidence motion in their constituency was quoted as saying this was orchestrated by Labour HQ.
(Don’t ask me which, I was driving at the time and it the first I had heard of it)

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 13:44:05

Seems trisher you want them silenced .

So easy to produce a manifesto, so easy to ignore parts of it once power has been won.

Jalima1108 Sat 08-Sep-18 13:47:58

Is it to continue with failed and expensive PFI contracts?
Unfortunately, we can't do much about them; we are locked into them for years, ilovecheese

What exactly does "centre" mean?
If centrist MPs were brave enough to speak out we may find out what their aims and policies might be.
We are not the policy-makers.

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 13:50:22

Maw, yes he was speaking of the bullying which is going on throughout the country. Many MP’s are being bullied , this is a fact . It is denied by the far left but as the bullying is carried out by the far left, well, they would say that wouldn’t they.

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 13:56:29

Brown has been accused of ‘sticking his nose in’ he is a party member who gave his views on the IHRA, this is sticking nose in ?

paddyann Sat 08-Sep-18 13:57:34

Oh dear Greta I think you'll find that Scotland subsidises England if you look at the FACTS .Why else do you think Westminster is so desperate to hang into us,why did they move 6000square miles of OUR coastal waters to be included as English/ strange isn't it that English coastal waters now reach almost to Aberdeen!!Thast not even counting the Scottish exports counted as English as they go through English ports ,thats several billions of Whisky for starters .I do wish the English public knew the truth .Scotland could easily be self sufficient without us having to hand over ALL our revenue and get pocket money back from WM .Oil from Scottish waters has kept the UK afloat for over 40 years .OUR government balances its books ,every year .WE dont have borrowing facilities so all the borrowing is done by Westminster government and spent by them too .

Grandad1943 Sat 08-Sep-18 14:10:13

The problem in the labour party is that there are a number of Blairite MPs who cannot accept that the party has democratically changed its underlying policy position and with that it's leadership.

I am one who does not feel that Jeremy Corbyn has led the party well regarding Brexit and the antisemitism issues. However, there are obviously many party members in the district and constituency parties that still have great belief in those present policies, and they prevail as the majority at this point in time and in that wish to retain Corbyn as leader to present those policies.

The parties present policies also have the support of the wider Labour movement along with the current leader. The trade unions are demonstrating some frustration with the Corbyn leadership on the two above issues. However, even if Corbyn were to be replaced as Labour party leader, the present policies would remain as there will be no going back to the Blair policies that so failed Labours grassroots members and working families throughout Britain.

Therefore, the remaining Blairite MPs and others with Blairite views in the party need to accept all the above and that things have very much changed

The constituency parties have the right under rule to select or deselect who it is that represents them in parliament. As long as that action is carried out democratically, then should the majority of a constituency party feel that their current MP does not represent their views or fully support current party polices then to deselect that MP is justified.

In short, those blairite MPs and others should cut out the whinging and whining and accusations of bullying etc and move on into the present Labour world. Blair and his policies are gone and they ain't coming back.

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 14:12:12

3 centre left MP’s have faced a vote of no confidence this week. There will be more.

2 of these MP’s are members of Friends of Israel, coincidence?

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 14:15:33

Here we go again, stop freedom of speech from grandad1943

Anniebach Sat 08-Sep-18 14:39:17

During the Blair government, three consecutive general election wins.

There were far left MP’s , Corbyn was one, they was not told
to stop their whinging and whining, the centre left respected freedom of speech. One general election , lost , and the far left are telling centre left to stop whinging and whinning, party members are accused of poking their noses in.

This is how the far left think and speak.

OldMeg Sat 08-Sep-18 14:45:47

I think the accusation Maw was that someone who praised Corbyn’s undoubtedly sincere socialist principles (me) went on to defend bullying.

That was a complete fabrication of course which is why there was no answer. No one defended bullying. Fake news or more acutely fake accusations. Very Trump?

OldMeg Sat 08-Sep-18 14:49:55

Of course they were sticking their noses in. When we make comments there aren’t the TV cameras conveniently there. That was quite deliberate and planned.

Of course that plonker Brown knows all about cameras etc having left his microphone on in one memorable senior moment I see to remember.

OldMeg Sat 08-Sep-18 14:53:40

Oh naughty Grandad you are not allowed to express your opinion yet are being accused of wanting to ‘stop freedom of speech’.

Irony is alive and well on this thread ???

lemongrove Sat 08-Sep-18 14:55:51

the far left of the LP are engaged in a massive shut down of free speech by anyone who doesn't support their views.
Massive deselection of moderate MP's and Councillors is now underway.

lemongrove Sat 08-Sep-18 14:58:23

things within the LP may be funny to you OldMeg but according to many Labour MP's there is real anguish within Parliament over what has been happening.

OldMeg Sat 08-Sep-18 15:03:12

Massive deselection of moderate MP's and Councillors is now underway

Is this just breaking news lemongrove because I’ve just googled it and all I could find were a couple from 2016 and 2017?

OldMeg Sat 08-Sep-18 15:04:50

Missed the point Lemon and yes, I suppose there’s nothing funny about people flinging out false accusations, or to put it more bluntly telling lies.

lemongrove Sat 08-Sep-18 15:05:45

it's just the start [now] OldMeg anyone who doesn't cut the mustard will be got rid of.

lemongrove Sat 08-Sep-18 15:07:17

two years ago, when posters were warning this would happen with Momentum calling the shots, the far left on GN denied it would ever happen.
