I don't think it was fair to target his children but they don't really seem like ordinary folk do they?

trisher Fri 05-Oct-18 14:18:41

Lemon do stop pretending to be completely ignorant and uninformed. You have replied to many of my posts, some about my origins. And I have never criticised wealth or class or used them as 'taunts". I have posted about policies and ideas I disagree with. Unfortunately none of those who claim to be "centred" have posted any ideas they agree with, just criticised mine as "far left"

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 14:25:41

I remember nothing about your origins trisher but it’s fair to say that on this forum, unless we meet in RL we could be anything, or hold any political views.Any Communists on here would probably be reluctant to come out and say so, but who knows, maybe now they will!

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 14:27:16

My point to you still stands, that you used Nye’s words to insult fellow GN members.

MaizieD Fri 05-Oct-18 14:30:44

Careful you don't break that string of pearls, lemon. You've been clutching them a lot lately..

trisher Fri 05-Oct-18 14:37:22

lemon do get it right I used Nye's words to criticise members of the Tory party and centrist voters, not individual GN posters. It's known as political criticism. It's the whole point of political debates. And as I said the analogy of "road kill" must ring true for many Lib Dems.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 14:40:52

Oh if only I owned any pearls to clutch!

Political criticism grin......oh is that all it was?!

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 14:42:07

Strange that other GN members thought the same as me then, about your comments.

trisher Fri 05-Oct-18 14:42:53

lemon you've created a cross-thread I suggest you either request that your Nye comment be removed as it belongs on another thread or stick to what was being discussed on this thread. (If that's not too difficult for you)
I've got pearls!

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 14:44:19

Then go clutch them? grin

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 14:46:10

The Nye comment is relevant, as it’s a good example of
Class hatred.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 14:49:47

Many have said I can't be socialist POGS because I am not working class.
I don't recall anyone on here saying that - are these people in your circle of acquaintances then trisher?

I have no idea what 'class' you are - I thought 'class' was a thing of the past anyway (according to the last Labour Government, him who knows, Baron Prescott - does that make him my better? grin).

trisher Fri 05-Oct-18 14:57:16

Oh No lemon they are old and need re-stringing. They might break.
Isn't it funny how all the so called moderste (actually right wing) posters on here suffer from restricted memory. Still I can't be arsed to look up threads.
People might like to explain why they think 'road kill" is insulting and not just a complex metaphor that explains much.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 15:04:50

Or indeed, look up ‘vermin’ ?

jura2 Fri 05-Oct-18 15:34:22

Now it just proves the politics of envy theory does not make sense- as I own several strands of pearls, modern, and wild Victorian ones too.

jura2 Fri 05-Oct-18 15:36:03

LEMON 'All we ever seem to hear on GN though are taunts of the class hatred/envy type.'

RUBBISH, absolute nonsense.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 17:01:08

jura remember your post today/yesterday about ‘plums in their mouths’ ? Would you have said similar things about youths who mumble ‘innit tho bro’ etc?

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 17:03:40

What does your pearl collection have to do with anything,
grin now, if you had talked of your vast diamond collection... I may have been impressed ( probably not though.)

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 17:06:31

I liked the thought of the ‘wild Victorian ones’ they knew how to have a good time in those days.wink

PECS Fri 05-Oct-18 17:19:25

Class is not always relevant in political opinion. There are many right wing 'working' class and left wing 'upper' class. I do not think it is about one's class but about fundamental values and what you want to promote: nationalism or internationalism, common good or personal preservation, inequality or equality, sharing or keeping.... I'm all right Jack & sod you or I'm all right Jack so I can help you.... obviously lots of shades of grey in between. Avuncular politics is a thing of th past in Conservatism in the same way that the Co-operative values used to be more prominent in the Labour camp.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:27:25

And as I said the analogy of "road kill" must ring true for many Lib Dems.
An exercise in how to insult a whole political party and those who vote for them in one little sentence.

As for 'restricted memories', I can't remember much about anyone's backgrounds on here, if I ever knew in the first place.

jura2 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:35:47

lemon 'Would you have said similar things about youths who mumble ‘innit tho bro’ etc?'

if they talked utter condescending rubbish, pretending they knew what they were talking about, when the clearly don't - oh yes, I would. For all the diamonds, gold and platinum- gave it all away a long time ago, dear.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 17:41:48

Gave it all away to a good charity I hope, dear.
There is no getting away from the fact that it’s considered fine and dandy to insult rich people but not poor people, which makes no sense to me at all.Money and class shouldn’t even come into it.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 17:47:38

JRM wouldn’t get all the bile directed his way in the same way, if he had been born on a council estate, so shall we do away with the nonsense of no class hate, because it’s there alright.
I don’t agree with many (maybe none) of his ideas, but reviling him because he happens to be ‘posh’ is rather stupid IMHO.

MaizieD Fri 05-Oct-18 17:58:48

JRM wouldn’t get all the bile directed his way in the same way, if he had been born on a council estate

That is so funny when I think of the bile directed at Emily Thornberry who was brought up on a council estate. but had the temerity to be born into the middle classes and to become a successful barrister and marry someone with a title. And to be a Labour MP.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 18:00:42

I mean ( of course) all the bile on this thread!
