I don't think it was fair to target his children but they don't really seem like ordinary folk do they?

Anniebach Thu 13-Sept-18 11:49:34

it proves he is a liar to me Maizie

lemongrove Thu 13-Sept-18 11:53:01

I have never heard of Ian Bone, but he sounds like a fanatic with a hive of bees in his bonnet.
I expect Corbyn will want to quickly disassociate himself from this character in future.
It's not only 'posh' families that give their children strange names sometimes, those at the other end of the wealth spectrum do too grin as many state schools could attest.
It's never right and in fact cowardly to 'go after' children and say things about their Father.

Could be, but so many politicians, when they move to a position of power, find they have to make compromises in order to keep the party together. And in power. Look how Theresa May had to go against her remain vote.
Even at local level. There was one member of our local party who was a red hot unionist. Eventually he got a seat on the council and changed to a mild mannered centrist.
I think that might even happen to Corbyn if he became PM.

Corbyn change to centre left ? I think not

This is what a photo journalist who was there has reported:
“11th Sept 2018. Class War at the Westminster £5.6m town house of Jacob Rees-Mogg with street theatre calling for the release of Veronica Crook, his nanny who now looks after him and his six children. They say she ceased to exist as an independent human 50 years ago and has been subsumed into the Mogg family as if she was being confined in the tower of a gothic mansion. The playlet starred former Class War Westminster candidate Adam Clifford as Jacob Rees-Mogg and Jane Nicholl as Nanny Crook, as well as a giant penis and offered escape to Veronica Cook, saying she is paid at below the minimum wage, calling Rees-Mogg a "Slave Owner - The Leopold of the Mendips". Rees-Mogg came out to welcome the protesters, but refused to answer their questions about Nanny Cook's wages and conditions; he was followed by his wife and four of his children with Nanny Cook, who told the protesters she was satisfied with her conditions and refused their offer of trade union membership”

I have listened to this morning's interview of Ian Bone by Nick Ferrari.

I have some sympathy with Ian Bone when it comes to the issues he was protesting about.

Yes, he's intemperate and evasive in the interview when it comes to his shouting at the children but he has no reason to lie about the circumstances leading up to the demo. Which were that it had been arranged 3 weeks ago; Rees-Mogg had agreed to it and so had the police.

Yes, he is badly at fault for shouting at the children but it appears that JRM deliberately exposed his children to the demonstrators by actually bringing them out of the house part of the way through the demo. Had it been me I would have kept my children well away from it. I can only assume that he was thinking that the presence of his children might cool things down. In my eyes that it cynically using them as a human shield.

And note that Bone truly does hate the Labour party and Corbyn... That scorn is not manufactured.

lemongrove Thu 13-Sept-18 12:12:42

yup, sounds like Bone is a foul mouthed protester all right.
he should have mounted the giant penis on his own head.
All he has achieved, in any case, is to show what a loon he is, and garner sympathy for JRM.

MaizieD Thu 13-Sept-18 12:23:43

I bet you didn't listen to the interview, lemon.

I'd further bet that you aren't in the least bit bothered about the pernicious effects of tory 'austerity'.

MaizieD Thu 13-Sept-18 12:25:28

I don't have any sympathy for a man who deliberately places his children in the firing line. The fact that Bone is not an at all likeable person doesn't make JRM a saint.

paddyann Thu 13-Sept-18 12:30:20

Peaceful protest is still allowed in the disunited kingdom,EVEN foul mouthed protest .Its a right that should have been using far more over these years of austerity ,while the rich got richer and the divide widened ,when the DWP became responsible for thousands of deaths and when a tory government led by ideology is dragging us out of the EU .
Of course it will protect the British "tax havens" when the Eu bring in the new legislation Mrs May and her cohorts wont have to worry abou declaring their money and paying TAX on it .

Anniebach Thu 13-Sept-18 12:30:44

No one has said JRM is a saint.

sodapop Thu 13-Sept-18 12:33:55

I was puzzled as to why JRM put his family in the firing line. Bone has long been known for his unpleasant behaviour so it seems odd.

Anniebach Thu 13-Sept-18 12:38:07

JRM and this man worked together and planned it? Did JRM phone him it meet him in the pub to arrange day and time ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Sept-18 13:27:49

I am ready for the insults- here goes!!!

No child deserves to hear an old bitter man shout abusive things to and about their Father.

I like JRM, I do not go along with all his views, but I do respect his faith, which in the face of insults and questioning from all sides has never waivered.

My C and GC all have posh names, especially the G's.

It is not JRM fault what family he was born into. He supports his children, not like some who have lots of children and then expect the state to support them.

He is investing the 'Family Money' where he can get the best returns, for his children's future. Isn't that what we do when looking for the best interest rates, ISA's or weighing up the returns on Premium Bonds?

Jealousy is like an invasive disease, it eats a person up inside until they come bitter and twisted - Bone!!!

Anniebach Thu 13-Sept-18 13:31:15

With you GrannyGravy

lemongrove Thu 13-Sept-18 13:57:59

well said GrannyGravy smile
and for you MaizieD I could have predicted what you say on here, easily and that you would be defending this plonker Bone!
Your bets are wrong, in any case.

Oldwoman70 Thu 13-Sept-18 14:06:23

Can I ask how many GNs would have appreciated having a stranger stand outside their place of work/home and demand to be told how much they earned? I really feel for Veronica Crook in all this, she appears to be happy in her job and it seems JRM has a lot of affection and respect for her.

Grandma70s Thu 13-Sept-18 14:11:53

I agree his views are backward but he can’t help being ‘posh’. Ridiculous to target people because they went to Eton. I doubt if he had any choice.

Grandma70s Thu 13-Sept-18 14:14:48

In any case Eton is a very good school.
Nothing wrong with posh people, any more than unposh ones

maryeliza54 Thu 13-Sept-18 15:07:38

Nobody got anything to say on the Tory MEPs supporting an anti-Semite Government then? The Board of Deputies have condemned their action today but I guess tge Corbyn haters on GN think that Tory anti semitism is just fine and dandy.

oldbatty Thu 13-Sept-18 15:28:57

mary, you are wasting your time. Silly names, its OK to be posh, Mr Bone is a horrible man,Boris says what a lot of us are thinking.....this is what matters unfortunately.

I heard Viktor Orban speak some months ago on the radio and it was terrifying.

Anniebach Thu 13-Sept-18 15:40:54

Here we go again, critcise all politicians with the exception of Corbyn, anything against the Devine one is hatred.

Hate of anyone like envy of the wealthy is a waste of energy

Anniebach Thu 13-Sept-18 15:41:38

batty, what is posh?

oldbatty Thu 13-Sept-18 15:52:50

posh is using a milkjug.

oldbatty Thu 13-Sept-18 15:56:41

btw I don't like Corbyn and I dont hate JRM. I think the rise of facism in Europe is very worrying.
