Glad you said 'almost', Annie

I don't think it was fair to target his children but they don't really seem like ordinary folk do they?
Glad you said 'almost', Annie
I said almost because it’s the truth, quite simple .
I'm sure JRM is honest, polite, likes children and ambitious, he also knows his company will make a great deal of money out of the instability that Brexit causes. There is absolutely nothing in leaving the EU that will benefit 90% plus of the population
So there is justification in someone challenging Jacob R-M himself on those issues - but no justification whatsoever for Ian Bone's behaviour.
maybe because its his wealth that protects him from the fallout of this Brexit he's so keen on and its his wealth that fuels his political stance.I have no issues with people having money ..honest .I have had my own businesses for over 40 years BUT I can still see what the less fortunate have to endure and do my level best to help where I can .
thats to Anniebach
JRM thinks that people will be able to live on their savings for a bit when things go pearshaped after Brexit (what! For the 50 years he's predicting?)
Like everyone has several £million stashed away in a tax haven...
Never mind, there will be a bumpy road agread, but we will recover in the next fifty years.
Why do GNers give credence to JRM and all this ‘fifty years’ stuff ? When they don’t believe anything else he says.
not giving him credence at all just shocked that he knows /understands so little of real peoples situations, that he thinks they have stocks and shares and savings etc etc etc.Mind you he's like most other tories in that sense !
"Why do GNers give credence to JRM and all this ‘fifty years’ stuff ? When they don’t believe anything else he says.grin"
Because that's the only thing he says that rings true

All politicians know "real people's situations", they are not blind.
Either
They don't care how the peasants live as long as they have power and money. You see this a lot in developing countries the urban population look down on the rural poor, China and India are probably the worst.
Or
They genuinely believe that their wealth will trickle down and improve the wealth of the rest
‘because that’s the only thing that rings true’
Diana I think it’s because believing that fits with their own thoughts simply because they are Remainers.
So although it does ring true to them it’s only because they have such gloomy thoughts about the future.
They can’t believe just one thing JRM says whilst dissing all else he says.....that wouldn’t make sense.
You know what Tusk says...’you can’t cherry pick’.
The news this morning has him referring to an African country as Jam Jar.
Doesn’t matter whether we believe the 50 years, he said it. He said that we could live on savings and investments whilst things level out so he must think we all have that amount of savings and investments. So either he is out of touch with reality or just says things convenient to the argument at the time. Neither commend him to me.
Diana, who are the peasants you refer to?
Almost all of us would be considered peasants by JRM and his billionaire friends. They despise us all but they most despise the poor fools who are taken in by their lies.
varian, because you want it to be true doesn’t make it true, you know JRM despises almost of all of us, you know he considers almost most of us peasants ?
How can anyone believe anything you post after this , for me there will always be doubt no matter what you post.
Iam64
Varian…. don't you like him then?
varian, because you want it to be true doesn’t make it true, you know JRM despises almost of all of us, you know he considers almost most of us peasants ?
I found varian's assertion strange too Annie.
JRM is a Christian and who knows how he spends his money? A Christian couple I know are very well off but a) they do not denigrate or despise those with very little and b) their active good deeds towards the less fortunate and disadvantaged and the way they offload their money to good and charitable causes is an example of real philanthropy.
It's a wild assumption that the rich hate the poor. Many have been poor in their lifetimes, many have inherited wealth, many have worked to amass a fortune. I do not begrudge them that, or their place in the world.
I have worked hard both at school and work to better myself. Is that a crime too because I have a better income than some?
Labour's politics of envy, distrust and dislike of those with money is truly nasty.
I'd add to the above, nasty people are nasty people, whatever their status or income. Nasty poor, nasty rich, nasty in-betweeners. They exist.
Money is a wonderful cushion which makes life a lot easier in many ways but it does not automatically follow that people with money have no social conscience, compassion or a dislike of those without it.
Life has never been anything other than unfair, We have to play as best we can the cards we are dealt and that's the way it has always been.
Until the revolution of course.
Jacob Rees Mogg may be criticised, rightly or wrongly, for all kinds of things he has said or, when someone should have said something, not said. To attack his children is disgraceful. I think he is a loathsome man, with loathsome ambitions, loathsome plans and a loathsome attitude towards people he clearly regards as lesser than himself. I feel the same way about Donald Trump but most of his children are adults and involved in his nepotistic presidency so they are fair game, but not the youngest boy who is still a child.
I dislike JRM's politics. I don't envy people who are wealthy. I don't resent people who are successful in their working life and able to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
I don't want a revolution. I'd like to see a fairer society. We can afford to fund good public services. I disagree with JRM's views on all those things.
Just remember, absent, that Rees Mogg deliberately put his children into the line of fire (so to speak).
He exploits situations like this. People associate his soft spoken calm manner with 'goodness' and are happy to accept his 'victimhood' because of it. That nasty Mr Bone has got to be in the wrong because he shouts and rants and loses his self control while that nice Mr Rees Mogg does all he can to calm the situation. That's exactly what he wants you all to think. He's a good manipulator.
JRM conducts himself with dignity, he doesn’t publicly use foul language as does John McDonald. Doesn’t hide behind a glass door shouting ‘stop harassing me’.
Doubt he will ever attend a wreath laying ceremony for terrorists who murdered innocent Olympic athletes and say ‘I was there but I don’t think I was involved.
Yes, the nasty Mr Bone is in the wrong, no two ways about it.
I don’t either like or dislike JRM, he’s a backbencher who I don’t take much notice of tbh but he doesn’t deserve nor do his children, that kind of circus on his doorstep.
QED.
As I said. He's a good manipulator.
