The Nasty Labour Party - what they really stand for.

Rod Liddle took Labour to the cleaners on Question Time. I fully agree with his assessment.

“I really wish that the people who were taken in by [Labour] and agreed with that, would look to the left beyond the podium and see the rabble with their Palestinian flags and their lanyards sponsored by Hamas, would look to the raft of hypocrites on the Labour front bench. Thornberry, Abbott, Chakrabarti – all of whom don’t want you to send your kids to private schools or selective schools but do so for their kids, and for Corbyn and McDonnell, who have given support and succour to every possible hostile, violent, anti-democratic terrorist regime or organisation they can. IRA, Hamas, Hezbollah, Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela.

If you want people like that running your country, vote for Corbyn.”

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:36:23

Are you really saying Jalima, that politics should not be discussed on political threads? Really?
confused
I said they should be jura - but without personal attacks on posters.

I will rephrase it and make it clearer:
It can though jura - as long as posters do not make personal attacks and stick to discussion of politics and politicians

I can see why you may have misunderstood.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 20:40:40

So oldbatty what did you think of Grandad43 ‘s post, now that you have seen it hmm?
It’s ok is it? It’s aimed at what you think is a ‘right wing’ poster so it doesn’t matter? Even though Jalima may not be a right wing voter.
Any insult is fine is it, as long as it’s not aimed at a Corbyn supporter?
Especially one that involves swastikas. What’s wrong with you?

oldbatty Fri 05-Oct-18 20:42:26

I honestly think you away with the fairies and I bid you Good night.

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 20:43:00

Jalima yes, that is probably what sparked his vitriol, he got the names mixed up! grin

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 20:44:38

Good night Oldbatty I see you would rather quit the thread than have to comment on the ‘swastika’ post.hmm

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:46:44

Good night oldbatty grin

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 20:50:58

Oh come off it Grandad43 using the bombed out sympathy vote, lots of people were, even Conservative voters!
Haven’t you noticed btw that Jalima isn’t even a Tory, nasty and evil as they are.grin
If that swastika jibe is the sort of thing you come up with when somebody says something you don’t like......phew!

Grandad1943 Fri 05-Oct-18 20:52:32

No, I have no intention of reading "The Bevin Boys". There are always those that seek to make money out of the tragedy of war by publishing one sided accounts in books.

As I have stated the government in view of many took the decisions they had to in the years 1940-1945. That Jalima1108 you seem not able to accept. Therefore please advise on how you would have brought forward the coal production tonnage that Britain required in those years?

You will find jalima1108; it is very easy to criticise the decisions of others but not so easy to put forward other solutions yourself.

Not forgetting there was a war on of course.

I await your solution?

Grandad1943 Fri 05-Oct-18 21:04:23

Lemongrove, Jalima1108 set out to offend me I believe, so I have offended that person.

As I started earlier, do not dish it out if you cannot take it back.

I also believe that there is a great deal of "false offence" being demonstrated by others in this thread, or they have led very sheltered lives. grin

Anyway the battery on my phone is now flat after going all day, and my wife is taking me out to drown my sorrows over having to cancel my retirement today.

See you tomorrow.

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 21:08:10

Watching HIGNFY, I didn’t watch the Labour conference , Corbyn tried dancing ?

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 21:10:43

Day by day on GN it is being affirmed that the present LP members, by their words show the very worst behaviour and confirm the title of this thread.
All can now see it.

POT - KETTLE - BLACK

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 21:13:30

You’re not even a Labour supporter jura but have just joined their gang! Hilarious.

Chewbacca Fri 05-Oct-18 21:13:45

Pot, kettle, black

Oh the irony! grin

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 21:14:13

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 21:16:56

POGS Fri 05-Oct-18 21:40:02

trisher

From the Rees Mogg Thread and shifted to this thread to follow the flow of your post calling Tories and Centrists VERMIN and ROAD KILL.

You posted this:-

" lemon do get it right I used Nye's words to criticise members of the Tory party and centrist voters, not individual GN posters. "
--

Weasel words trisher that might fool some !

What you are maintaining post after post with your attempt to say ' Not my words so I can't be held accountable ' is disingenuous. You know perfectly well Gransnet has a diversity of posters from various political leanings including Tories and now you have included ' Centrist' voters as VERMIN and ROAD KILL!.

Quoting somebody else to prove a point , attempt to align with their words is nothing short of saying I agree with what he/she/they said . Given the context of your original post that quoted Bevan you were aligning yourself with his quote.

VERMIN and ROAD KILL is exactly what you feel about Tories and whether they are on GN or not, it is a generalisation. Why b----y bother to mention the quote in the first place in the manner you did if you can't stand by your post.

If you or anybody else accuse those who find your opinion distasteful , that's being polite, of ' pearl clutching ' then you just affirm your intended meaning .

Gransnet at it's worst comes out of the closet every now and again and boy you have set the bar low.

MaizieD Fri 05-Oct-18 21:48:53

I went and had a look back at the beginning of this thread. It started with an inflammatory OP which was followed by a general attack on tories by paddyann. At which point it became personal as people waded in to attack Paddyann. 6 posts practically in a row from different posters.

I don't think anyone has shone on this thread.

Iam64 Sun 07-Oct-18 10:42:11

Ive been away and missed all the ' fun' here. The latest nonsense about Bevan may qualify for the most unpleasant exchanges I've seen since trying to catch up with gransnet. Grandad has topped his/her own level of unpleasantness in the suggestion that Jalima would rather have a nazi flag flying over Downing Street than the Bevan boys working in the mines to support the war effort.
Over and out from me, other than a friendly wave to Chewbacca, Annie and Jalima for their input here.

Anniebach Sun 07-Oct-18 10:52:10

Maizie, the OP was a posters opinion on the political parties.

Paddyann replied with a personal attack , you must have skipped that post

trisher Sun 07-Oct-18 10:55:50

Iam64 If you do. read a thread could you try at least to get the facts right.
Nye Bevan -responsible for the NHS and calling Tories Vermin
Ernest Bevin responsible for the Bevin boys in the mines.

MaizieD Sun 07-Oct-18 10:57:28

You're confusing your Bevans/Bevins, Iam.

Bev I n Boys, conscripted in WW2 to work in the coal mines, to produce vital coal supplies, by Earnest Bevin.

Nye Bev A n, architect of the NHS and origin of some venomous quotes about tories and a warning to those who stand in the middle of the road.

MaizieD Sun 07-Oct-18 10:57:59

Snap! trisher

MawBroon Sun 07-Oct-18 11:00:43

Oh dear!
Bev I n Boys, conscripted in WW2 to work in the coal mines, to produce vital coal supplies, by Earnest Bevin

You forget the importance of bring Ernest, MaizieD grin .

MaizieD Sun 07-Oct-18 11:01:05

Personal attack on whom, Annie?

I don't see any names named and if you read it without trying to find a hidden personal attack it makes more sense to interpret it as a response 'spoken' to Liddle.
