First Dominic Raab, the Brexit Secretary and now Esther McVey from Work and Pensions.
Can you see a way out of the chaos we're witnessing?TM to address the HoC at 10.30.

Complaining about bad language isn’t a diversionary tactic
mcem.......it’s simply complaining about bad language.
You started the thread.... unless you have nothing else to say about Cabinet chaos ( which surprises me.)

Brexit: Theresa May braced for more cabinet resignations after day of chaos leaves deal facing Commons defeat

You really are the ultimate agent provocateur, lemon, aren't you. This thread was progressing perfectly reasonably until you saw fit, at 12.00, to make a completely unnecessary, off-topic, personal attack on maryeliza. Then escalate it by complaining about her language when she, quite rightly, told you to shut up.

Contemptible....

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 21:59:05

‘ Can you never resist the urge to have a go at people you don’t care for’.........your own words Maizie ( aimed at me) upthread.....now I can say the same words right back atcha.
Btw on GN we cannot tell others to shut up, if reported it will be removed. It goes against the spirit of Gransnet.
In any case, telling others to stfu is announcing that only your own view is important and that you have are having a childish tantrum.
That’s what I call comtemptible.
Now, stop your ‘escalating’ and get back to politics, or have you nothing to say.

Eloethan Thu 15-Nov-18 22:41:18

Implying that someone is "coarse", is, in my opinion, far nastier and more offensive than someone saying, in exasperation, "shut the fuck up".

mcem Thu 15-Nov-18 22:57:24

Careful eloethan - you'll be told that wasn't nice !

oldbatty Thu 15-Nov-18 23:21:39

Steady on there old girl

Anniebach, it's quite likely that Jeremy Corbyn has a disability problem in regard to his memory and like many that is why he writes much of what he wishes to state down to text.

Do you condemn him and the millions of others who suffer similar memory disabilities Anniebach. Surely it is how people with disabilities perform their duties not the disabilities that they have that should be judged.

That is a truly astonishing claim Grandad!

a disability problem in regard to his memory
I am not quite sure what you mean by that actually - are you saying that he is suffering impaired memory due to age or that he has always had an inability to remember facts?

A potential PM with a disability is no problem at all (David Blunkett eg was a very able politician) but having a PM with an intellectual disability such as the inability to remember key facts would be disastrous.

Day6 Fri 16-Nov-18 01:54:25

What a shower of sh*t this cabinet and Tory part is. They sit there facing Theresa May for five and a half hours, then come out jointly accepting the proposed deal, and then in true Tory tradition stab her in the back.

Yes Grandad, it is like a repeat of the Labour Leadership fiasco all over again, isn't it?

Comrade Corbyn's Labour party is divided too, just in case you have forgotten - Marxists versus Blairites. All is not well there. He is glad of the Brexit confusion to take the heat off him and Momentum, I imagine.

Mind you, TM might as well hand him and his comrades the keys to number 10 now. She must be in his employ with her Leave Means remain deal. Corbyn hasn't had to do anything to push her off the top spot...She has kept us tied to the EU and allowed a Marxist government to exploit a situation she has mishandled.

We live in interesting times. hmm

Day6 Fri 16-Nov-18 01:57:02

Marxist government

Marxist party.

We will be able to say we have a Marxist government in the near future I imagine.

Eloethan Fri 16-Nov-18 07:53:41

Conservative Party policy in action - don't address the issues raised regarding the government's woeful performance in every area of governance but make the usual claims of Marxism, etc, etc, etc.

lemongrove Fri 16-Nov-18 07:54:27

I really don’t think so Day6 ( although a week in politics is a long time as they say.)
Corbyn had his chance last year and the voters didn’t go for it.
Will Parliament go for this deal? I thought not from what has been said on tv but, ......hmmm, maybe they will.
I alao thought T May would resign last night....but she didn’t.
Yes, we live in interesting times!

lemongrove Fri 16-Nov-18 07:56:16

Eloethan the overall Labour Party isn’t Marxist but as you well know, Corbyn and McDonnell are.Since they would be leading it and forming policies......

Anniebach Fri 16-Nov-18 08:54:50

Eloethan, I do think the ‘f’ word is coarse , you have the right to use it, I have the right to say it is coarse .

And i accept many use it now in their daily life , some do not.

Barmeyoldbat Fri 16-Nov-18 09:20:58

Annie was does it matter with all that’s going on that JC had his questions written down,. I have my shopping list written down. Think it’s a good idea.

Anniebach Fri 16-Nov-18 09:23:48

Barmyoldbat, if / when he is PM how is he going to manage at meetings of world leaders

Barmeyoldbat Fri 16-Nov-18 09:26:35

Plenty of people in top positions write notes for a meeting Annie. So He will manage very well

Smileless2012 Fri 16-Nov-18 09:43:03

I don't think TM will resign lemongrove; I certainly hope not. If they want rid they'll have to force her out.

The woman's got 'balls'; more than her entire cabinet before any resignations, put together.

Anniebach Fri 16-Nov-18 10:14:31

Yes notes, but reading word for word ? No

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 10:18:10

My feeling at the moment (and it might be wishful thinking) is that the 1922 committee vote will not happen or at the very most only 30ish will vote against TM. I’m hoping that JRM has overplayed his hand and that more people are realising he is the Emperors new clothes - there’s nothing there except totally misplaced self regard. He burbled something yesterday about shoes being cheaper with no deal which would help the poor. He’s all heart isn’t he?

Anniebach Fri 16-Nov-18 10:19:35

The whips have been called back to London

varian Fri 16-Nov-18 10:34:27

Liam Fox, the international trade secretary said "Coming to a free trade agreement with the EU should be "one of the easiest in human history" because our rules and laws are already the same".

We haven't heard much from him recently. Is he still there?

Anniebach Fri 16-Nov-18 10:52:04

20 letters now

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:04:42

I wonder if JRM delivered his own letter or if nanny did it for him?

maryeliza54 Fri 16-Nov-18 11:06:05

I think the 20 letters refers to the number gone public not the total. Either was what’s taking GB so long?
