First Dominic Raab, the Brexit Secretary and now Esther McVey from Work and Pensions.
Can you see a way out of the chaos we're witnessing?TM to address the HoC at 10.30.

Why is this turning into another “let’s bash Jeremy Corbyn ” thread? I know he,s led a rubbish opposition , but the government is collapsing around our ears, (not caused by JC- he isn’t leading any revolution- it’s the Toris own in- fighting) the country is divided, we should be more worried about the right wing nationalists, it’ll be Nigel Farage in a black shirt as PM at this rate.

mcem Thu 15-Nov-18 15:19:46

Sorry crystal but I see very little evidence of another JC bashing thread. One poster sticks firmly to her view and she's entitled to do that.
Another poster or two defend him.
I think that, today of all days, anyone (and everyone?) in the HoC is likely to be criticised!

MaizieD Thu 15-Nov-18 15:20:34

Yes, MaryE I rather think that my posts are informed and your replies simply prove it.

Your chutzpah, lemon is utterly breathtaking.

'Informed' shock

Shall we move on?

We'd have moved on a lot faster if you hadn't leapt in to attack maryeliza. Can you never resist the urge to have a go at people you don't care for?

oldbatty Thu 15-Nov-18 15:30:10

petra please tell me what you mean?

petra Thu 15-Nov-18 15:51:58

Oldbatty
No point wasting my time.
You obviously live in a different universe to me. You are someone who thinks this country is vunrable to attack ( from who, alians?)

oldbatty Thu 15-Nov-18 15:52:35

yes it'll be alians what wil do it.

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 17:21:52

You do make me laugh Maizie... saying ‘youcan never resist the urge to have a go at people you don’t care for’
You mean...as you have just done! How ironic! grin
At least I manage not to tell you and other posters to Stfu though, eh?

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 17:28:07

mcem..... I will just refer you to my answer to Maizie
Do you think that sort of language aimed at another poster is quite alright?
What we say about politicians is one thing, and what we say,
As in swearing on GN at a poster you don’t agree with is another.
It shows lack of a coherent arguement in any case.

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 17:29:35

Now shall we move on?!

petra Thu 15-Nov-18 17:35:37

mcem
You do know what stfu stands for, don't you?
If you think that's perfectly acceptable language to use.....well.

mcem Thu 15-Nov-18 17:47:56

Yes I certainly do. The poster is clearly fairly irate but did temper her language by using a well-known acronym.
Don't pretend it's the first time you've seen it on GN but please do try diversionary tactics to avoid the argument in hand.
Should we be trying harder to be "nice".
I will just refer you to my post elsewhere about being " nice"!!!
Vigorous language is not used by all of us but at times proves more effective than the pusillanimous and apparently ubiquitous "nice"!

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 17:59:35

Petra it seems that mcem is quite ok with it, as long as it’s an acronym, and it’s not directed at her but with somebody she doesn’t agree with. grin
Am all for robust comments, would be too bland without them, but I prefer not to swear at posters.
Other views are available!

mcem Thu 15-Nov-18 18:07:54

One of your more open-minded and magnanimous posts!
Well done. Nice of you!

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 18:15:27

Well, it’s National Kindness Day this week ( as we discussed elsewhere) smile so why not.

Anniebach Thu 15-Nov-18 18:21:47

I didn’t know what stfu stood for but as Maizie was supporting maryeliza who often uses the f word I assume the f word is part of stfu .

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 18:23:43

Yes Annie...It’s Shut The F... Up, charming eh?

Anniebach Thu 15-Nov-18 18:28:35

Charming ? ?. for me vulgar and showing off

Anniebach Thu 15-Nov-18 18:31:09

Ooooh when a relative told me he was working at the FO I thought he meant the foreign office , silly me ?

Fennel Thu 15-Nov-18 18:49:40

Same thing Annie? grin.

maryeliza54 Thu 15-Nov-18 18:54:12

Using an acronym to swear at a poster who’s launched a personal attack is perfectly acceptable - here’s some pearls to clutch snowflake. You’re welcome

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 19:06:55

Did I hit a nerve MaryE perhaps.
?
Annie grin

mcem Thu 15-Nov-18 19:10:02

How very kind of you ME.
I'm sure the snowflakes think it's awfully nice!
Vulgarity and offensiveness take many forms.
Sometimes it's how something is said and sometimes it's what is being said.
Language has to achieve its desired effect and although I don't advocate swearing, here or in RL, I believe there are times when, regretfully, it can be effective enough to make a point.

lemongrove Thu 15-Nov-18 19:16:30

Would you like to get your thread back on track now....I have tried, twice.
Surprises all round this evening, as everybody thought T May would either be resigning or possibly calling for an election, the journalists looked deflated!

mcem Thu 15-Nov-18 19:26:34

I do believe you were the one who used diversionary tactics - complaining about use of language which wasn't nice!
Besides, it isn't my thread. I wouldn't be so presumptuous!

Anniebach Thu 15-Nov-18 19:31:31

If the choice is being a snowflake or a coarse woman, than snowflake every time please ?
