Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday.

Do you agree?

And then what will happen next........let’s see whose prediction is the closest. Perhaps let this thread run about 2 weeks and see who got it right, or nearly right.

Declare a winner just before Christmas.

Over to you ?

moobox Sat 08-Dec-18 10:42:32

I predict we will be in exactly the same mist of confusion at Christmas

Peardrop50 Sat 08-Dec-18 10:42:35

I predict that Theresa May will lose the vote on Tuesday. Slimy Gove will try to take over but David Davies will become PM. We will leave with no deal. Life will become difficult as the EU try to punish us for leaving. Our US and Commonwealth friends will increase trade with us. Things will get better for us as the EU implodes and the younger generation will be grateful that we got them out just in time. The sun will continue to shine, people will continue to be good and bad. Love and hate won’t go away and Prince Charles will make a better job of being king than any of us imagined.

All of these people saying keep labour out are they blinkered to the austerity that's happened in this country.
The nhs is on its knees.(waiting to be sold to the private sector friends of the tories) . Then we truly will be like Europe where being we have to pay for our medical help . Well it's plain simple that I will just have to die at a ripe old age of 47.
Because I am currently seeing 6 specialists . Only recently everything fine wrong with health . Strokes , hypoglyceamia, chronic arthritic pain, bowel problems the list goes on and on.
None of these is of fault of my own. Before people say u must smoke or u must drink or be obese etc. No i am infact 65kg and would weigh less if the brexit deal happens and we come out of 3urope because atm I live on fruit and veg and meat. So how will we acquire all our fruit and veg into this country once we quit . It will triple in price almost overnight.
Some people need to take off those rose coloured designer specs they ar3 wearing and see the country and what's happening in it.
How people are literally dying due to having benefits stopped or taking weeks to sort out.
The old cannot put heating on.
The crime rate !!!!!! Smash and grabs that are happening is awful.
The lack of police force to tackle all of this crime. I agree it's a total headache . But if the govt . Paid themselves less wages or less expenses if only for 6 months maybe the pot of money for the country would have more in it. Shame on you all not seeing . The difference in crime figures and food banks etc..

I predict we will stay in and Jeremy Corbyn will be PM relying on the SNP to support him. People have been brain washed by MSM so unfortunately Jeremy will not get the majority he needs to make the much needed changes to the devastating effects of this cruel and callous Tory government.

MaizieD Sat 08-Dec-18 10:56:12

Well, here's one prediction I made that's already come true!

MaizieD: I realise that this will not stop people making this stupid claim about 'Parliament' promising 'once in a lifetime'

Juliet27 Sat 08-Dec-18 10:13:18
Well said nigglynellie!

hmm

evianers Sat 08-Dec-18 10:57:29

FYI folks, we here are not exactly shaking in our boots, but are worried about all kinds of aspects of this dreaded vote. We have been told in no uncertain terms that we shall all [at great expense and loss of life] have to apply for a Carte de Sejour Permanente in order not to be classified as an illegal immigrant - despite that we have lived here for 11 years very happily, and without the above documents. It is causing us major headaches and worries as although we have not yet embarked upon this process, many of our fellow UK citizens are in panic-mode [perish the thought that we will be forcibly thrown out but hopefully it wont come to that]. Anyone else in the same boat?

Harrydog50 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:07:00

Not saying which way I voted but leave won so we must agree with the vote if we stay in Europe against the will of the people what's the point of voting I wouldn't bother to do it ever again no general elections of local council that will free up my Thursdays to do something of more use

sandelf Sat 08-Dec-18 11:09:07

I'm with you there NigglyNellie. If we had had a halfway competent negociation we would not have had ref -but we did. 'Freedom of movement' has meant we had to implement racist immigration policies (restricting from non Europe) in a desperate effort to keep inflow down. If we don't break free now we will be unable to. The next development is common armed forces - who's to say Brussels will not deploy them against non conformist members. Not betting on any outcome at the moment!! And God help us should a 'charismatic' leader arise. Memories are short.

Urmstongran Sat 08-Dec-18 11:10:16

TM will lose the vote on Tuesday.
There will be a vote of no confidence.
A replacement Prime Minister figurehead for the remainder of this government.
We will get a second referendum.
Meanwhile there will emerge a new party of Brexiteers from both Conservative & Labour ranks and they will win a stonking majority at the next G.E.

Blondie49 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:11:09

Oldbatty I’m loving your quote of “ large Irish lady “ . Nobody ( ok a lot of people) had never heard of the DUP before TM needed them and probably couldn’t care less about the Irish Border and the backstop. I have to visit NI a few times each year and the people there are more British/ English than the British /English . I tell them ( nicely ) that they have never been mentioned on news/debates etc in UK until they propped up government. It is just so deeply ingrained over there

GabriellaG Sat 08-Dec-18 11:13:19

May will still be PM next year and Brexit will happen in one form or another.

LuckyFour Sat 08-Dec-18 11:17:15

I'm hoping for and therefore predict a second referendum.

Peardrop50 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:20:28

Wow, stirring up division and hatred in Northern Ireland Blondie49, oh that’s OK I note you’ve done it ‘nicely’.

GrannyHaggis Sat 08-Dec-18 11:26:52

Do you think EU will welcome us back to the fold with open arms if there's a second referendum and the vote is to stay? I think we'd be disregarded and treated as second class citizens.
Also wondering what the point of all these Cabinet members going round trying to drum up support is..bit late for that now. I'd rather have seen my MP knocking on my door wanting to know how she should vote, especially if she wants to retain her seat at next GE.
I just want all this wrangling to be over and we know one way or the other.

Sillyoldfool Sat 08-Dec-18 11:29:50

There is absolutely no point in a second referendum if the result of the first is disregarded. All those favouring staying in the EU I hope you are happy for your grandsons to be conscripted into the EU army to keep the proletariat (we ordinary citizens) under control. We are being manipulated to ensure that the wealthy elite flourish & everyone else struggle to keep them up there at the top of the heap. Corbin et al will hasten the process.

Willow10 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:31:11

I predict that if I have to hear the B word once more, I may just blow a fuse! Who came up with that stupid, irritating word anyway?angry

sue01 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:43:00

I predict the end of Democracy. And I can't tell you how sad that makes me.

HannahLoisLuke Sat 08-Dec-18 11:43:46

Nigglienellie Im with you.

mabon1 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:44:58

I'M NOT A PROPHET

MaizieD Sat 08-Dec-18 11:45:11

I hope you are happy for your grandsons to be conscripted into the EU army

Why are all the Leavers so convinced of this 'conscription' thing? Are our young men 'conscripted' into NATO forces, or UN Peacekeeping forces? Or into the British army, come to that?

Can any Leaver link to an official EU document that sets out plans for conscription into this, so far, mythical, EU army?

Riverdaffyd Sat 08-Dec-18 11:45:44

Old arty, who is JRM?

trisher Sat 08-Dec-18 11:47:39

Sillyoldfool do you really see an EU army being able to keep ordinary citizens under control? I recommend you look at what is happening in France and think again.
I predict May will lose and resign.
Gove will step in, Boris will lead a party split. The government will go. There will be a hung Parliament. There will be a second referendum.

mokryna Sat 08-Dec-18 11:50:04

Yes evianers, I am/was in the same boat after 41 years.

MaizieD Sat 08-Dec-18 11:50:53

I'M NOT A PROPHET

grin

Oh, I'm so sorry, mabon1. That reminded me irresistibly of the immortal lines from The Life of Brian:

"He's not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty boy"

Ramblingrose22 Sat 08-Dec-18 11:52:18

There are so many possible outcomes to this bizarre situation.

The trouble with Theresa May is that she is very rigid. I'm not sure if she's flexible enough to change tack now and she's not comfortable about going back on things even when she knows she has to.

If the PM learns from the Chief Whip that she'll suffer a heavy defeat she'll postpone the vote if she wants to stay in her job or leave it as scheduled if she's fed up with the job.

However there's no point in postponing the vote if the EU won't agree to any more talks. That option is probably being explored behind the scenes but more talks are unlikely to produce any major concessions to the deal she has agreed to. If the EU agree to more talks she could extend Article 50 if that becomes necessary.

If the vote goes ahead and she loses I predict that she'll stay in place unless the defeat is heavy (say over 100 votes). Hard to predict what she'll do next though.

If she is forced to resign (the only way she will go) then a Leaver like Gove will fight to be leader along with BoJo, Jeremy Hunt and some member of the ERG who doesn't trust ex-Cabinet types. David Davis and Dominic Raab had better not stand as the agreement reached was negotiated on their watch and they didn't understand its implications even though they were responsible for directing the way the negotiations were conducted.

A second referendum would be a disaster. It is and should always have been Parliament's job to decide on such complicated matters. It is pointless to say that the decision was made first time round and we have to stick to it if new information comes to light. It's like saying the Earth is square and the person who subsequently proved otherwise should simply be ignored.

I don't believe there'll be riots on the streets if Brexit doesn't go ahead - what a load of twaddle. That is another version of Project Fear - this time from the Leavers.

I think we're stuck with a Tory Government with or wothout a new leader till 2022 and they need to start being honest with the electorate about what can realistically be achieved by way of a new withdrawal agreement and future relationship. However, I'm not holding my breath.......
