From the Sunday Times.

Labour suspends official who blamed ‘all wars in the world’ on Jewish people

Andrew Gilligan

The Sunday Times

Mohammed Yasin pictured with leader Jeremy Corbyn

"A senior Labour Party official shared anti-semitic material blaming Jews for “all the wars in the world”."

"Labour’s West Midlands regional organiser, Mohammed Yasin, was suspended last night after The Sunday Times approached the party with a dossier of his activity on social media. Labour has launched an investigation."

"For more than two years Yasin, not to be confused with the Labour MP with a similar name, shared anti-semitic posts and 9/11 conspiracy theories, praised a homophobic preacher and described his former leader Tony Blair as a “child-killer”."

Labour's links with racism/antisemitism just won't go away. It really is time for the party to sort itself out.

True Chewbacca , so true

I read the article in the ST today and was appalled, I do however agree with trisher's post, that the US's stance in particular, as far as Israel is concerned isn't even handed, one only had to watch the recent Simon Reeve programme when he went to both Israel and Palestine to realise that. Nevertheless there is now a virulent wave of anti semitism that has reemerged and it doesn't help that it is being fostered by a sector within a party that prides itself as being set up on high ideals. The contentious mural in particular gave credence to the pernicious subliminal theory that some love to put forward, that Jews control everything, including instigating all wars. Shameful!

To lose the Jewish community in our country would be nothing short of a tragedy.

Anniebach Sun 16-Dec-18 19:29:48

That mural was vile

Grandad1943 When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

Well said Trisher some seem to forget the daily atrocities visited on the Palestinian people by the State of Israel....these are people who were moved from THEIR land by Western governments with no real idea of the problems they were causing, yet they continue to ignore the conditions they are forced to live in,the fact that many are still being hounded out of their homes of decades and more an dthe fact that Israel is witholding goods and medicines from the..

I like millions more am NOT anti semitic I am anti Israeli state policy .

Anja Mon 17-Dec-18 09:25:33

Exactly paddyann but there are those who can’t or won’t see the difference.

TerriBull Mon 17-Dec-18 09:34:27

There are those who are intent on conflating the State of Israel's policies with the Jewish populations per se. Hence the deluge of hatred that has come their way of late. Jewish communities feel, not unreasonably, that this is history repeating itself. Unless we are Jewish, or from another ethnic group who have suffered such a fate, none of us can know what it would feel like to lose family to genocide, or indeed have a political movement manipulate public opinion against one's ethnicity and religion, so much so, that there is a subliminal message that somehow the Jews control the world's financial world and are simultaneously responsible for all the world's ills. Paradoxically that was once the mantra of the far right, now sections within the far left spout the same vitriol.

Fennel Mon 17-Dec-18 09:40:07

"I like millions more am NOT anti semitic I am anti Israeli state policy ."
As are many thousands, or millions of Israelis.
Population 8.7 million. 75% Jews, 20% Arab.

Anniebach Mon 17-Dec-18 10:06:45

Is there not a difference between being anti Israeli state policy and claiming Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world?

Between admiring an anti semetic wall mural

Between laying a wreath for terrorists who murdered Olympic athletes

Were the Jews responsible for WW2 and all we know about the Holocaust lies?

Did pogroms never really happen?

trisher Mon 17-Dec-18 11:08:01

What interesting questions Annie but to go back to the basis and origins of anti-semitism. The actions of the US and other countries which have failed to ensure Israel complies with UN rulings is used by anti-semitics to develop and build their ideas. How can this be countered? Is the question that would help develop a real strategy to combat radicalisation and anti-semitism. It is difficult to combat allegations of conspiracy when there does seem to be a real and unchallenged policy of not enforcing UN resolutions on Israel.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 17-Dec-18 11:30:40

Totally agree trisher, the Israeli state seems to be able to do what it wants without any sanctions from UN all the while USA supports it unconditionally.

Anniebach Mon 17-Dec-18 11:33:53

To go back to the thread title - are the Jews to blame for all the world wars , surely a yes or no ?

trisher Mon 17-Dec-18 11:52:08

If I say "No" Annie what good would that do? It is for most people an accepted view, unfortunately there are at both ends of the political spectrum people who believe otherwise. Looking at what can be done to stop the recruitment of ordinary young people to their ranks is what should be looked at. The situations that begin to plant seeds of anti-semitic ideas and radicalisation are what need tackling. Otherwise by inaction we are all indirectly responsible for the conclusions.

Anja Mon 17-Dec-18 12:10:37

Of course the Jews are not to blame for all world wars and the idiot MP who allegedly said that has been suspended.

Rightly so.
By his party.
Who don’t share his anti Semitic views.

Anja Mon 17-Dec-18 12:12:19

Just realise....having reread the post. It’s not a labour MP at all, just some ‘official’ ??

Fennel Mon 17-Dec-18 12:15:31

"To go back to the thread title - are the Jews to blame for all the world wars , surely a yes or no ?"
First, which wars have been world wars? As far as I know, only 1914-18 and 1939-45.
I can understand someone with twisted thinking blaming Jews for WW2, but WW1? Why?

Anja Mon 17-Dec-18 12:21:46

Fennel this is not Labour Party thinking, just some little official with his brains in his boots.

trisher Mon 17-Dec-18 12:51:58

But it is thinking that can be found at the both ends of the political spectrum- far right and far left. To look at anti-semitism otherwise is to use a disgusting and unacceptable concept for political point scoring.

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Dec-18 13:36:57

He's Labour's West Midlands regional organiser apparently.
And a bigot.

M0nica Mon 17-Dec-18 14:38:28

Did he say 'world wars' or world's wars, because I was beginning to wonder about the Roman Invasion and 1066 and boggling.

trisher Mon 17-Dec-18 16:10:31

He WAS Jalima1108 he is currently suspended.

Anja Mon 17-Dec-18 16:23:36

I’m going to stick my head above the parapet and suggest that there are quite a few Asian men and women in local government or active in politics in general. Doubtless many will be Muslim.

I’d suggest that there is a certain amount of tension between some Muslims and some Jewish people, not helped by the situation in the Middle East.

If there are Muslim and Jewish Politicians spread across the political divide these feelings are going to surface now and again. Jeremy Corbyn was right to suspend this man and it sends out a clear message that these historical difference must be put aside in U.K. politics,

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Dec-18 18:36:55

yes, was trisher

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Dec-18 18:40:41

I expect the Jewish people invited the Romans to rule over them and the subsequent wars BC M0nica

M0nica Mon 17-Dec-18 20:54:12

....and they funded the Norman Conquest, but William paid them handsomely for the loan.

All that is left is to implicate them in the Mongol invasion and that is everything done and dusted.
